He needed a break away from everything. Emma and April were at the mall so there was a guarantee that they weren’t going to be shifted. He’d slept in that morning and he’d eaten food and nothing was going to ruin this day and you know that every time that sentence is added to a post something has to come along and ruin the day. It wasn’t a ruined day per sé, but it was kind of unexpected and freaky to be minding his own business when suddenly someone else’s voice was in his head and it didn’t belong to April or Emma. It had to be someone new to the pack--- nobody else would be able to get into his head. The first thing he noticed was that the voice was either male or a pretty scary sounding female. This excited him, though Matt was kind of flipping out over the voice regardless. It was faint, and so Matt couldn’t make out any actual coherentness. He ran around a little but because it wasn’t actually a sound, it wasn’t that easy to figure out where the voice was coming from. It took a little bit, but he managed to get pretty close, and that’s when the questions came pouring out.
Can you hear me? You’re a guy, right? He had to know. It was ridiculous, but he needed to know for sure. Do you live around here? He wasn’t trying to sound like a stalker but that’s how it was sort of coming out and he was very aware of this. Uh, sorry, scratch that. Soon, he could hear the other person. For any normal person it’d come over as pretty creepy to be chasing someone down but they clearly weren’t normal people and if someone else could hear Matt’s thoughts all of a sudden then yea, he was going to be chased down. He finally got close enough to see the other guy, and was kind of surprised to see that he didn’t look like he had just phased for the first time. He had too much control over his situation for that. Then again, if he wasn’t new to phasing, he was still new to their pack and so he probably wasn’t going to be a huge fan of the telepathy thing. I hate to start another post ranting about trees, but the damn forest needed to end. I don't even know why I'm amusing their in a forest (probably because they're always in a forest) but Nash was used to the desert, and all these trees were really hindering his progress going.. well we don't know where they are so I don't know where he's going. It's all good, Nash probably doesn't either. Now that he'd shifted, his original life plans were sort of on a indefinite hiatus. (He was pretty sure no matter how much control he had he wasn't going to be able to keep in his form while he was being shot at.) Besides, they'd seen.. he'd run away.. and going back simply wasn't an option. So now he was going somewhere else. For the most part he traveled in wolf form because he was faster, and today wasn't any kind of exception. Except you know, something bizarre had to happen because he was sort of getting used to things the way they were he needed something to keep him on his toes.
That something, you guessed it, was Matt. Only, he didn't know it was Matt yet. There was just this incoherent mumbling going on in his head in a voice that definitely wasn't his. Being Nash, he tried to find a logical explanation for everything (you'd think he would have given up on that after he phased, but no). He tried to block it out, and when they didn't work, let it aside as him being seriously food and sleep deprived. But the more he focused on it, the clearer the voice became, and then came the questions. "Can you hear me? You’re a guy, right? Do you live around here? Uh, sorry, scratch that." The voice hadn't sounded threatening, in fact it had sounded excited but Nash had been a little too surprised to analyze the situation, and he didn't give a damn how nice the voice in his head sounded- he wasn't trusting it without a good reason."Who the hell are you? How are you talking to me?" The clearer the voice got the more he was able to sense the other's presence until finally he could see another wolf. Well that explained a lot. Never having met another shifter before and having no idea what to expect, Nash stared him down with a very intimidating 'don't fuck with me' look, waiting for answers.

Well he didn’t sound too excited about having someone in his head but Matt couldn’t blame him. Sometimes he forgot how…not normal was to share your thoughts with other people, or more importantly hear other people in your head. Knowing that, Matt tried to be as normal as possible but let’s be real here, this was a pretty exciting moment. Matt didn’t care who the guy was or what he was like. Who the hell are you? How are you talking to me? Understandably so, the other guy seemed pretty freaked and Matt was not in the mood to get attacked. Calm down and I’ll answer your questions—keep your distance or I’ll fight. He was making sure he stayed around ten feet from the guy, not wanting to appear as a threat. He didn’t know how long the guy had been a shifter or how well his judgment or instincts were going to be controlled. Matt wouldn’t instigate a fight and the other guy looked pretty strong, but he’d hold his own if he had to.
So, question answering time. This would be fun. Who the hell are you? I’m Matt… I have a pack around here. Evidently, he now had a new pack member. There was no way they’d be able to communicate otherwise. How are you talking to me? Okay, so he was either a newbie shifter or a newbie pack-bound shifter. Either way, he was about to find out a shitload of information. It’s, uh, sort of a trick for packs. If you’re in a pack, they can hear your thoughts while they’re phased. Guess that means I owe you a welcome gift basket or something. Matt gave the guy a good look but he couldn’t figure out how old he was. It was his turn for questions. How long since your first phase?[/style][/style]

'Calm down and I’ll answer your questions—keep your distance or I’ll fight.' The guy definitely sounded younger than him (either that or puberty had not been kind). Nash wasn't really all that big on being told what to do, but the guy's terms were the same as his and frankly, weird as this situation was, that was good. He could live with that. 'Got it. I'm listening.' Nash didn't move from his spot, showing the guy that he wasn't going to start trouble, though he was still ready to attack or defend himself if need be.
'I’m Matt… I have a pack around here.' "A pack?" So, that was really more of a 'to himself' question as opposed to a 'to Matt' question but we've already established in another thread that it's hard to diffrenciate between those at first. So yeah, Nash was playing realist's advocate here and he got the wolf thing and the telepathy thing but really, packs were just taking it a little too far. Especially because he was pretty damn sure he hadn't signed up to be a part of any group. 'Guess that means I owe you a welcome gift basket or something.' "So what, I'm just in your "pack"- no choice or anything?" I mean, he wasn't saying no ,but he met the guy like two seconds ago.
'How long since your first phase?' Phase? "You mean the first time I turned into a wolf?" Yeah, he was blunt. As much as he wans't eager to share his life story with the guy, Matt had answered his questions, he supposed it was only fair he returned the favor. "It's been a while. I don't know.. A month.. two months maybe." Of course, considering how long he'd been a normal person who didn't turn into a wolf, it didn't seem like that long at all, but wandering around the forest had that effect.

Matt was kind of relieved to see that the other guy was willing to cooperate…and that he didn’t look like he had plans of attacking or doing anything stupid. The guy was keeping his distance, and Matt would do the same for him. Got it. I’m listening. The more the guy’s voice went off in his head, the more Matt started thinking that he was older than him. Though he was older, he definitely wasn’t more experienced when it came to the pack thing. Not that Matt had much experience himself, but this guy didn’t know anything. A pack? Yeaa, Matt could tell the question was rhetorical but he answered it anyway. Only two others—not much of a pack, really. They were sort of a work in progress… but being in a small pack was better than being alone. So what, I’m just in your “pack” – no choice or anything? Matt totally got that… it wasn’t like they were friends or anything. Matt had known April and Emma before they’d phased, so it was different. You do get a choice—stay with us or walk away. Once you break the connection, though, you can’t get it back with anyone. He could leave…anyone could do it at will. But once he willingly psychologically left the pack, he was on his own. He couldn’t start his own nor could he join another one. For the other guy, maybe that wasn’t a big deal but to vampire-obsessed people like Matt, it was a big deal not to have to fend for yourself. The whole thing sounded ridiculous while being explained—Matt didn’t think he’d ever get used to how crazy it sounded. You mean the first time I turned into a wolf? Yea, yanno, phasing. When you shift. He hadn’t realized that normal people weren’t familiar with the terminology. And so Matt wasn’t trying to be nosey but there were some things he needed to know! How long the guy had been phased was one of them. It’s been a while. I don’t know.. A month..two months maybe. Oh… you’re not that new… same for me. You’ve been alone this whole time? Matt would’ve gone crazy if he didn’t have April and Emma to help him through it. They’d shifted not long after him and they figured shit out together. Being alone had to have been bad. What’s your name? It sort of occurred to Matt that the interrogation was uncool to someone he’d just met, so he tried to back off a little. Look, I know how not normal this is so if you want to leave, leave, I just don’t think it’s a good idea. If you want, we can go to my house a few minutes from here… get food… be nice to trust you more if I knew what you actually look like… [/style][/style]

"Only two others- not much of a pack really." Okay, so there were more of them. That was great. Now he was outnumbered. although apparently he was in this guys group now. Or "pack"- since some people took the wolf thing way too seriously. "You do get a choice- go with us or walk away." Well he sure made it sound like there was an ultimatum if he did.. Nash was starting to get that this was a pretty big descision. "You want me to go with you?" I mean, had this guy come upon him on Nash's turf he would have ben a lot less excited. But this guy also seemed to know a hell of a lot more about what they were than he did, and he wanted a damn explanation. Which, ye was slowely getting.
So "phasing" meant "shifting" which meant.. turning into a giant wolf by or against your will depending on the situation. "How do you know all this?" A month may have been enough time for this guy to figure shit out, but Nash hadnt had that kind of opportunity. "Youve been alone this whole time?" "Yeah." And then the guy asked his name "Nash." Mkay, so he wasnt being terribly chatty with the question answering, and the guy seemed to get how uncomfortable this was. 'If you want.. we could go to my house a few minutes from here.." Right. Here was this guy who knew what the hell was going on, has a place to stay, and generally seemed to be getting off a lot better than him in the world.
He figured if Matt wanted to kill him hed have done it before explaining what the hell was going on and besides, the last time Nash had spoken with a person was the last time he'd stopped for food which had been a while ago because he was ridiculously stubborn. "Yeah, sure.. Lets go.. I mean, I can choose later right? This isnt like a set thing?" He was a bit sarcastic in the sense that if Nash wanted to do something, he wasnt planning on letting this guy stop him, random "connection" or otherwise. "Nothing personal. I just want to know what's going onfirst." [/style][/style]

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You want me to go with you? So Matt was taking some risks here with not knowing the guy but he really didn’t see a problem with just inviting him in. It was probably stupid on his part, but that was how Matt looked at it. The other guy probably had more to be cautious about than he did. Matt knew what he was doing. The bigger the pack, the safer the members. Being a lone shifter was dangerous. That was all there was to it. How do you know all this? Clearly, this guy didn’t know any other shifters. That had to be a random and extremely inconvenient first phase for someone. My dad. He was one too. You really don’t have any family with it or anything? It’s usually hereditary. If it wasn’t hereditary, nobody would know anything about it and that would just make for a lot of confused giant wolves running around. The guy said he’d been alone, which explained a lot. Nash. Good to know. At that point Matt was beginning to see that the guy wasn’t trying to start shit so he let up as far as being all defensive went. He wanted Nash to know he wasn’t going to do anything either… not that Nash had much to worry about. By the sound of his voice he was older by at least a couple years. Yeah, sure.. Let’s go.. I mean, I can choose later right? This isn’t like a set thing? Matt shook his head. You can choose whenever you want. Doesn’t matter when you choose to stay. It’s only permanent when you choose to leave. Technically Nash was already in. He didn’t actually need to make the decision to stay with them because it was already done. The choice to leave would always belong to him. Nothing personal. I just want to know what’s going on first. It’s cool, I get it. This is weird. You don’t know me. With that, Matt headed for his house, pretty glad that April and Emma were at the mall because otherwise they’d be in his house and that would be inconvenient at the moment. It didn’t take long to reach the small house in the middle of nowhere. Matt walked toward a small shed on the side of the house. Just push the door open. Inside there’s a table with clothes thrown on it. He had to be somewhat prepared for this. There were more clothes in there for April and Emma than for Matt, but Nash would have to make due with whatever clothes Matt had in there. Hope you’re about my size. If you need bigger, I have some in the house that you could wear. Of course, the bigger clothes in the house will have been from his dad which would make them most likely too big for the guy, so matt was hoping Nash wasn’t like crazy muscular or something so he could just deal with Matt’s. Matt then ran inside, grabbed some of his own clothes and came back out as his normal attractive human self. [/style][/style]

'The bigger the pack, the safer the members.' "Safer? Safer from what?" They were giant wolves.. what the hell did they need protection from? Yeah, the world was a dangerous place-- he got that. But the idea that there were other creature type thing out there that wanted to cause them issues-- not something Nash had put much thought into. Great. Yeup. He was never getting his life back. "My dad. He was one too. You really don’t have any family with it or anything? It’s usually hereditary." "Not that I know of." Then again it wasn't like he'd gone around asking.. although you'd think that that would be something that his parents would have mentioned if they known about it ahead of time. "I wasn't with them when it happened."
The other guy relaxed some and Nash followed suit, especially after getting confirmation that he still had some say in this extremely bizarre situation. He followed him to a small house with a shed on the side. 'Just push the door open. Inside there’s a table with clothes thrown on it.' "Okay, thanks." He followed the instructions he'd been given and pushed the door to the shed open. Closing it behind him, he shifted back into his human form and picked up clothes off the table. Yeah, the guy was definitely younger than him. And shorter. Nash had some of his own things, but they were back at his makeshift camp. For now he could deal with Matt's stuff. He got dressed and went back outside, where the younger guy was already waiting for him. "Nice to put a face to the voice."

Safer? Safer from what? And the first response Matt could come up with was You know… vampires. And then he realized that that was most definitely not a ‘you know’ kind of answer. He didn’t know how much this guy knew about them… or if he even believed in them at all. Quickly, Matt added, Uh, I’ll tell you about them later. They were kind of a huge deal considering it was their fault there were even shifters. Shifters always just knew about them. Matt had never come across someone who was a shifter without understanding what that meant. It wasn’t easy to have a normal life and a shifter life at the same time. Nash then told Matt that he hadn’t been with any family when he phased. The reason for that, of course, was none of Matt’s business, but the fact in and of itself just surprised Matt. Must’ve been shitty, he finally directly admitted what he’d been thinking in the very back of his mind the whole time. Then they were at Matt’s house because I’m good at skipping in time. When Matt came outside and saw Nash come out, it was clear that he was older and taller and that if Matt was like two years younger, they wouldn’t be able to share clothes. It was just barely working as they were now. The older guy had an intimidating face with long blond hair. Nice to put a face to the voice. Matt smiled a little and nodded. ”Yea, same, sorry about the clothes. You make mine look a little scrawny.” He turned and gestured for Nash to come inside because Matt was sort of starving. As he walked in, he continued. ”Glad you found ‘em anyway, figured Em and April’s stuff would be burying mine.” He went into the small kitchen, grabbing whatever food he could find for him and Nash. ”Em and April, they’re the other two shifters. You’re lucky—they’re too busy shopping to stop buy right now.” Matt tossed Nash an apple and sat on the table in the center of the room. ”How’re ya doing? I know it’s sort of a lot to deal with at once.” He figure the guy could handle it, but telepathy and vampires was sort of a lot to take in for one day. Vampires.. Seriously, you knew you were in the presence of a crack job when he could say "vampires" and "you know" in the same sentence without laughing. The sad thing was, that actually explained a lot. Of course, at the time, Nash was mostly just staring at him wide eyed going what the hell. "Uh, Ill tell you about them later." "I'm holding you too that." He could tell the guy wanted to question him more and Nash really didnt have a problem answering shit it was just going to be a lot easier when they were doing it through actual talking and not weird telepathy. "Must have been shitty." "Definitely wasnt the best day of my life." He was a little amused, thinking about it now, but it had definitely sucked while it was happening. The guy had no idea. And there they were. Matt didnt look very intimidating (no offense) which made following him into his house seem like a lot less of a big deal. In human form, Nash could definitely hold his own. "Sorry about the clothes. You make mine look a little bit scrawny." "Its fine. No big deal." He caught the apple and sat down somewhere around where Matt was but Phips doesnt know or feel like imagining the layout of Matts kitchen. "Em and April, theyre the other two shifters. Youre lucky- theyre too busy shopping to stop by right now." He nodded "So did they just show up one day too or?" Yeah he didint even know what the "or" was here. He bit into the apple, finally realizing how hungry he was as the guy talked again. How was he doing? He shook his head. "Its.. crazy. Downright crazy. I wouldnt believe a word of it if I wasn't.. yanno, but I guess thats how it is."[/style][/style]

Definitely wasn’t the best day of my life. No kidding. Matt could only imagine. It’s bad enough when you expect it. Not expecting it would be a good ten times worse. Anyway, they got to the house and now Nash had no reason to fear Matt now that he could see who he was. Matt ate like half his apple before he talked with the guy. He figured they’d both have lots of questions for quite a while. So did they just show up one day too or? He shook his head. ”We’d all known each other from before we knew we were shifters. I phased, and then I waited to see if they would. Once they did, we left together.” Matt was pretty sure he’d never been completely alone a day in his life, and here this guy was randomly wandering around by himself. ”You live around here? By yourself?” Not that it should have been surprising to Matt. It was more like the other way around. ”I mean, I guess you look old enough to live alone but…” It’s..crazy. Downright crazy. I wouldn’t believe a word of it if I wasn’t…yanno, but I guess that’s how it is. Yeaa, well, most people wouldn’t believe it unless they had first hand experience. That was completely normal. Matt understood completely. ”Yea, that’s how I felt about the whole vampire thing.” He shuffled his feet awkwardly, not really knowing how to go about having a semi-serious conversation about it. It was kind of difficult to take any of it seriously. ”About that, I swear I’m not dishing out bullshit.” Once he finished his apple, he tossed the core in a trash bin and walked toward the door. ”Up for a walk? Not much to do here.” He figured maybe he’d get to know the guy… explain some stuff… ”Maybe we can make a stop if you want your own clothes,” he said, grinning a little as he jumped off the step in front of his door. He quickly looked in all directions making sure there was no sign of the girls before waiting for Nash. [/style][/style]

”We’d all known each other from before we knew we were shifters. I phased, and then I waited to see if they would. Once they did, we left together.” Nash nodded. Well, it made a lot more sense that way. (Okay, as much sense as anything related to this subject could ever make. It made a lot more sense than all the wonderkids gathering and living together.) Basically, it seemed like every shifter but him had been given a pretty good warning as to what was going to happen to them. Luckily, he wasn't bitter. 'You live around here? By yourself?' "Yeah, it's just me. I don't live here though." he responded. Nothing against the place, it was nicer than a lot of the ones he'd seen before that. He was mostly just his confirming that he hardly knew where the hell he was. "I was just passing through." He didn't really know for sure where he wanted to live yet but he was looking to go somewhere more familiar. There was enough crazy stuff to get used to right now.
"You live with the girls, right?" He'd be pretty surprised if a guy Matt's age was be living by himself.. But not like finding out vampires were real surprised so we're all good. ”Yea, that’s how I felt about the whole vampire thing.. About that, I swear I’m not dishing out bullshit.” "I believe you.. I guess. Uh, any other real life fantasy creatures I need to know about?" Nash was a pretty serious person, and though he had his bouts of sarcasm with Matt, he was being completely straightforward here. At this point they guy could be like 'yeah we hafta fight dragons too' and he'd be inclined to believe him. He didn't like it.. but his reality was shifting. And now that he'd started figuring shit out, he wanted to know everything. It just would have been a lot easier if 'everything' didn't consist of so much stuff.
”Up for a walk? Not much to do here. Maybe we can make a stop if you want your own clothes." "Yeah, sure. I'm pretty close." He followed Matt outside and back into the forest (not that they'd ever left the forest, i dont know we didn't draw this one on gimp). For lack of anything else to do (and formality, I like that too) we're going to go ahead and say he led Matt to where he'd left his things. "Like I said, I don't really live here. But it works." He was an outdoors guy, so camping out all the time didn't bother him. He unzipped his duffle bag and grabbed clothes. Then he semi-stripped which makes me think of Ally's character and put on his own stuff. "So.. how's this whole thing work exactly?"

The guy had spent a lot of time by himself but even being older than Matt by however many years, he seemed kind of young to be backpacking across the forest. Matt was pretty curious as to where he had even come from. Yeah, it’s just me. I don’t live here though. I was just passing through. Matt nodded. ”Where are you from?” The guy seemed to be considering the whole pack thing… which implied that he really didn’t have a set-in-stone idea of where he was going. It was weird how he seemed to come out of nowhere. Matt, on the other hand, needed human contact on a daily basis—but—not so much that he could survive living with April and Emma. You live with the girls, right? He shook his head. ”Just me. But they’re a two minute walk from here at most.” Yea, he knew it sounded strange. ”Yea, I’m as young as I look…before you go second guessing yourself.” Honestly, with their shifter situation there weren’t a lot of things about them that made them similar to everyone else.
Speaking of things that don’t apply to everyone else…. I believe you…I guess. Uh, any other real life fantasy creatures I need to know about? Matt found the question amusing, though he could tell the guy was serious about it. He didn’t blame him. I mean, you never knew at that point. Anything seemed pretty possible after shape-shifters and vampires. ”Shifters and vampires—that’s it. I hope.” Matt wasn’t exactly an expert on the local supernatural creatures and so for all he knew there was plenty more out there but that thought was just really unpleasant and so he didn’t think about that. Matt got a lot more carefree as they were walking, looking forward to finding out who the guy was. When they got to where he’d been living, Matt could see that he was really low-maintenance and self-sufficient.
Like I said, I don’t really live here. But it works. ”That’s really cool,” was all he could really manage to say about that. Okay, so sometimes, he acted seventeen. Maybe he was a little over-impressed, but he didn’t know many people who’d be able to rough it like that. Then Nash changed and it was explaining time. So…how’s this whole thing work exactly? ”I’m…guessing you want the summary?” Matt could go on and on for days about it if he had to. ”When there are vampires around, the shifter gene gets triggered. We’re supposed to keep them off the land. As soon as you turn, you’re linked to your pack…. If you’re close enough.”He was clearly having a pretty hard time explaining the ridiculousness because there was no way to make it sound true.

”Where are you from?” "Alabama, originally." Knowing that it would probably require some explanation why he ended up here of all places (not that I have any idea where 'here' is other than not Washington) he added "I left after high school to join the army. I was in Virginia waiting to be deployed when I shifted." Yeah, so that was his story, not very exciting, but true. The guy was obviously surprised that he was by himself, which Nash got, but he was used to it so it wasn't really a big deal. He'd lived with a bunch of people before. It was fun for a while, but he liked his alone time. ”Just me. But they’re a two minute walk from here at most.” He nodded. Nash knew (probably better than a lot of people) that shit happened and you did what you had to to get out of it. It wasn't really his place to ask what had happened to the guy's parents or how he'd managed to get his own place and it didn't really matter. Point was he had it. And he had to admit that was pretty cool. ”Yea, I’m as young as I look…before you go second guessing yourself.” He smirked a little. "Get that a lot, I guess? Personally I'd say you look fifteen."
”Shifters and vampires—that’s it. I hope.” Well, that was assuring. "Guess it could be worse." Like... um.. Yeah, nah, I got nothing. I mean, dragons. I guess it was good there weren't any dragons. They'd be pretty problematic. But anyway, they got to where Nash was living and rather than looking down on it Matt actually seemed impressed. "That's really cool." "Thanks.. I think. It get's old fast." Nash was a very self-sufficient and low-maintenance person, but that didn't mean he wanted to do this for the rest of his life (HesAlsoNotAnIdiotLikeACertainPerson CoughAlexanderSupertramp). Matt started to explain the deal, why they were shifters, how it happened. Of course, as normal at it seemed for him to talk about, it still sounded crazy to Nash. Really, Matt could explain it over and over again, long way or short way, he could show him proof, whatever- it really wasn't going to get less crazy sounding. "This is ridiculous." he shook his head. It was hard to even think what to comment on, although Matt's explanation did leave him with a few questions. "Why do we need to keep them off the land?"

Alabama, originally. I left after high school to join the army. I was in Virginia waiting to be deployed when I shifted. Matt had never been to Alabama, but that explained the accent that the guy had. The fact that he had been waiting to get deployed explained a lot too seeing as the guy had been living on barely anything in a small camping space for however long he’d been there. ”Uh, wow, that sucks,” Matt replied to the fact that that’s how he’d shifted meaning it more as an apology. That’d have been awfully inconvenient, even though it was never a very convenient thing to have happen no matter what the circumstances were. ”Sorry you never got deployed—maybe you’ll have another chance in a few years.” He really did feel bad about that. Not that he’d had anything to do with it, but the whole shifting thing had obviously been an interruption to Nash’s former plans. Anyway, Nash at least looked like he was capable of fending for himself. Get that a lot, I guess? Personally I’d say you look fifteen. Matt smirked a little as well, nodding. ”All the time… when I tell people.” Matt figured walking around talking about his situation wasn’t the best idea and he didn’t want to draw negative attention to himself. ”Seventeen—close enough. How old are you, anyway?”
Guess it could be worse. Matt scoffed. It was pretty bad… but it could be argued that a bunch of other mythical creatures suddenly becoming real would be a bigger problem so they could take what they could get. Thanks.. I think. It gets old fast. ”Yea, I get it. So does living alone.” Those were just things that seemed pretty cool until doing them for like a couple weeks and then they just got less fulfilling. This is ridiculous. A grin appeared on Matthew’s face. Yea—it was ridiculous. And it was going to continue to be ridiculous no matter how used to it they became. Why do we need to keep them off the land? Okay, so that was a reasonable question. ”If we let them stay, after a while they’ll be all over the place and to be blunt that’d mean a lot of people dead.” It seemed messed up that they were the ones having to protect everyone else but that was the way it is and they couldn’t do anything about it (well they could decide they don’t give a damn about everyone else but Matt wasn’t doing that). ”And we hafta do it because…no one else can. We’re the population control.”
