So it’d been years and years and Emmett had been pretty sure that the coven had been established and that there would be no others joining in. He was comfortable enough with everyone and most of his free time had been spent with Rose or Edward and Edward tended to get on Emmett’s nerves very quickly. That was saying something because Emmett’s nerves were like incredibly hard to get on. As much as he loved Rose, sometimes he needed to be with a guy, and a guy who wasn’t Edward and before this new guy arrived, that wasn’t really possible.
He couldn’t believe how completely random it was. Some girl came by and talked to Carlisle and she brought some guy with her and suddenly they were staying in the house and part of the family. Emmett was curious but he initially gave them space. The girl seemed insane and the guy seemed quiet and antisocial and well it was slightly difficult to get a head wrapped around the idea of two new family members let alone go talk to them. So Emmett spent the day ignoring the newcomers with Rose and it wasn’t so bad for a while and then the sun set and Rose wanted to go hunt and Emmett was left with nothing to do. His attention span wasn’t working in his favor, so he left his room and walked down a hall that led to a room where.. Dammit.. what was his name again?.... Jasper… was now apparently going to be staying.
He approached a room with a closed door. Reaching his hand up to the door, he knocked before announcing that It’s my house, I’m coming in. Em pushed open the door and saw the guy… and it was kind of hard not to stare. What Emmett hadn’t noticed before were the many scars all over the guy’s neck, and pretty much every part of his skin that was revealed. Focusing on the whole eye contact thing, he looked up and grinned sincerely. Jasper, right? Carlisle told us before but I wasn’t really paying attention. I was distracted thinking about whether or not he was joking… and Rose was like.. grabbing my arm because she wanted to leave the room and talk about you and.. Jasper, right? I’m Emmett.

Jasper couldn't believe they were actually there. Of course, that had been the whole point- for him and Alice to find them and join their coven, adopt their lifestyle... but Jasper never actually believed that they were going to walk into the home of complete strangers, with no explanation other than that than one of them had had a vision, and be accepted with nearly open arms. The concept was completely foreign to him. The Cullens were nothing like the any coven he'd ever heard or been a part of. Everything from the way they acted around each other to their diet went against what he'd known, and as willing as he was to be a part of something that was... better, in every way, and it was.. it was a very unsettling atmosphere as well.
Alice seemed right at home with them, and that made him somewhat more comfortable. Carlisle and Esme had been very welcoming. Rosalie had been affronted by Alice and distrustful of him.. but he couldn't blame her. Alice had prepared him ahead of time for how they would react and what they would say. The only thing that had taken him by surprise was Edward's gift. He wasn't sure how he felt about someone he didn't know being able to get inside his head. He knew that they were supposed to be able to trust these people (if anything, it was them who had the right now to trust him and Alice) but it was going to take some time. The last "normal" social interaction he'd had was more than a hundred years ago. He didn't really know what he was supposed to do. He'd spoken with Carlisle once in private, shortly after they got there, and he'd mostly been answering questions.
Since then, he and Alice had spent most of their time to themselves. But he knew that Alice wanted to go out. She'd said something about getting to know Rosalie. So he'd been busying himself studying the room. It had been a long time since he'd been in a house. In simplest form, things weren't all that different, but there were certain things he couldn't even begin to figure out. Hearing someone walk towards the room, he stood up- partially out of respect and partially out of defensiveness. He didn't respond to the knock immediately, trying to see if he could figure out who it was first, but he didn't have to. Emmett let himself in. Though Jasper couldn't recognize his voice, Alice must have gone over their names and what they looked like twenty times before they got there. He'd wanted to know everything. Jasper tried not to think too much of his words. (It was his house. Not theirs. Carlisle was joking. Rosalie wanted to talk about them.) Emmett had almost slipped his mind earlier because he was for the most part as calm and happy as Alice. 'Jasper, right?' He nodded. 'I'm Emmett.' "Hello."

So this guy was quiet. He was also antisocial, making Emmett’s first impression very correct. So where could a quiet and antisocial vampire have gotten all those scars? He had that mysterious tough guy vibe coming off of him, which was supported by his red eyes. The fact that he had red eyes made Emmett think that he was going to be a problem and interfere with them blending into society and going to school and such. Though even with such conclusions drawn, Emmett was not one who was quick to judge and his curiosity was overwhelming him. He wanted to get to know these new people and didn’t have the filter to sound more polite and welcoming. Hello. So.. Carlisle says this is permanent? That’s awesome because I need a brother around who doesn’t cheat at everything.. unless.. you can’t tell what I’m thinking, can you? Or any sort of.. ability to know what I’m going to do? Because if you can, I give up. Everyone else got the cool powers.
He wondered what kind of powers the new couple might have had, or if they were just normal like Emmett. All he knew was that if they had cool powers Emmett was going to have to get close to them so that he didn’t end up on the bad side of anything. By the looks of Jasper, Emmett didn’t want to ever be on his bad side… but of course, he was Emmett so that was like impossible. If he played his cards right, he could even keep Jasper on his side and off of Edward’s. And now the whole thing was turning into a plan to win the guy’s approval. So where did you even come from? Is it true that your girlfriend just like… saw you here or something? That sounds kinda wonky. It was just really random. The whole thing sounded crazy, but hey, Emmett couldn’t complain. They sure’s hell weren’t boring people.
The only real problem seemed to be the red-eyed thing. Emmett didn’t see Carlisle being alright with that… so he really didn’t understand how this was going to work. The guy looked like ten kinds of dangerous. But, again, not judging. Emmett didn’t do that. Dude, you know we go to school, right? Did he tell you? It didn’t take much to know that any vampire who killed humans wasn’t going to be able to spend all day around them without disaster happening.. and the Cullens weren’t exactly hoping to cause a scene. It was annoying enough having to move around every few years because they weren’t aging. They didn’t need some accidental incident to drive them out of town.

'So.. Carlisle says this is permanent? That’s awesome because I need a brother around who doesn’t cheat at everything.. unless.. you can’t tell what I’m thinking, can you?' Most vampires didn't have an ability, so it wasn't surprising that there were members of the Cullen clan that weren't gifted. None the less, where he was from, no non-gifted vampire would make it past their first year. The fact that Emmett was also frustrated by Edward's ability made the thought of living in the same house slightly more plausible. "I can't tell what your thinking or what you're going to do. I do have an ability though." Jasper thought about elaborating further, but ultimately wasn't going to reveal anything without being asked.
Of course, it didn't seem like Emmett had any problems answering questions if the way he was asking them was any indication. 'So where did you even come from? Is it true that your girlfriend just like… saw you here or something? That sounds kinda wonky.' Jasper was definitely being to see how bold he was. And.. lets just not even get into the word choice. "Texas, originally. I met Alice in Philadelphia. She can see the future, and um, she saw us living here..So yes." In his defense, the whole thing has seemed entirely strange to him too, but at the same time, it had felt right. He'd been catching all the slight shifts Emmett had been having as they changed topics. Now, he understood what they were about. 'Dude, you know we go to school, right? Did he tell you?'
"We do? No.. I didn't know." Alice had told him that they lived among humans, but he hadn't ever thought they'd have to spend so much time directly in contact with them. There wasn't going to be any way he'd be able.. He'd already tried once with Alice and things hadn't gone well. As much as the fact the Cullens could go a day around humans without killing them amazed him, the idea of it was daunting. There was no way.. he just..couldn't. He would mess it up for all of them. The Cullens wouldn't let them stay.. Alice would be disappointed. He didn't realize right away that he was projecting the whole overwhelming experience onto Emmett with his power. Immediately he replaced it with a wave of calm, hoping (though it was extremely unlikely) that the gold-eyed vampire wouldn't say anything.

Whoa, he was speaking. That was a good sign because before it seemed like he was only capable of a short greeting. So you do talk, Emmett said, a grin forming on his face out of satisfaction. He could talk… and he couldn’t read Emmett’s mind in any way. This was going to be a pretty good friendship already. Emmett knew it. He could make it work. He said he had an ability, but he didn’t come out and say it. Emmett would have bluntly asked… but he wanted to figure it out for himself so he could feel all observant and such. I do have an ability though. As long as it didn’t involve putting Emmett at a disadvantage while wrestling (which, let’s face it, was going to end up happening if Emmett had anything to say about it), then he was fine with whatever freaky thing the guy could do.
The guy was from Texas, which excited Emmett a lot more than it probably should have (or maybe not, since he got easily excited over everything). He took Jasper’s wrist with his left hand, pounding Jasper’s hand with his right. Texas? Yea, you’re a Southern man! I lived in Tennessee. Texas was cooler, and Emmett had visited often… of course whether or not they’d been in Texas at the same time was unknown… since he had no clue how old Jasper was. How long has it been since you were turned? Yea, it could have been a touchy question but Emmett didn’t think about those things. He only ever asked such questions out of curiosity and never would have meant anything else by it. I met Alice in Philadelphia. She can see the future, and um, she saw us living here... So yes. That was pretty cool. Being able to see the future must’ve been awesome. Wow, so you got around.
And.. oops. Well, someone had to tell him. I mean, it wasn’t going to go over well to just get ready one morning and be all ‘Jasper, we’re going to spend the day in a high school now.’ We do? No… I didn’t know. I mean, I guess no one’s gonna make you, but we’ve been doing it for a while. It’s better than having to hide in the house all day. He looked at Jasper’s eyes again, figuring he’d have a problem with that. If you can’t handle it, you could always hang out here. He really was okay with Jasper having a different diet as long as it didn’t lead to attention toward the Cullens, though Emmett had reason to believe Jasper had plans on changing the whole diet thing seeing as Carlisle had let them in. And then.. suddenly he was like…upset..and nervous.. and it was weird because he didn’t feel like he should have been. He just was.. for no reason. Jasper had told him that he had an ability, but he didn’t put two and two together. He looked really confused for a moment… and then just as quickly as it had come, it was gone. Uh… something just… never mind. That was too weird.

Emmett proved to be extremely talkative- not that there was anything wrong with that. Jasper nodded and grinned slightly when he made note that he was actually capable of speaking full sentences, though he tensed when Emmett grabbed his wrist before realizing what he was doing. 'Texas? Yea, you’re a Southern man! I lived in Tennessee.' Unexpected as Emmett's gesture and excitement over the fact had been, it was becoming easier to form a sort of companionship with him than Jasper had initially thought. In the least, they had some common ground. 'How long has it been since you were turned?' He looked down for a moment, thinking about it. "Eight-seven years. And yourself?"
'Wow, so you got around.' He nodded. He'd never really thought before about how long it had been or how far they'd come for this strange mission. "It's been an.. interesting experience." Feeling slightly more comfortable speaking to Emmett, he asked something which he'd been wondering. "What brought you from Tennessee to here?" It seemed like such a strange occurance. He couldn't quite bring himself to ask the more personal question which was implied- if and why Carlisle had turned him (or, any of the other Cullens for that matter). This 'clan' seemed extremely unpractical. Unless of course they were all just mismatched vampires looking for a change of life.. Somehow that seemed ever less likely.
'I mean, I guess no one’s gonna make you, but we’ve been doing it for a while. It’s better than having to hide in the house all day.' Perfect. Despite the unpleasant feeling that came with knowing he 'couldn't handle it', Jasper would have been plenty content to stay in the house himself. He had nearly a century's worth of history to catch up on and who knows what else, but books were perfectly adequate teachers. "I'll stay here, if that's alright by you." he managed. He knew that Alice would want to go to school. Being away from her so long would be the hardest part. But what could happen if he went would be far worse.
"I'm sorry." When Emmett didn't jump to accusations, he felt compelled to apologize. He had enough things to be guilty about. As much as he and Emmett had been in agreement that invasive powers were unnerving, he knew that an explanation would be required, because he didn't want Emmett to think that he'd done it on purpose. He'd become extremely used to using his powers on a regular basis in Maria's army and since meeting Alice they'd stayed mostly just to themsevles. This would take some getting used to. (Another thing to add to the list.) 'Uh… something just… never mind.' "I'm an empath. I can feel others' emotions as well as project mine onto them. That was unintentional though. It wont happen again."

It actually was really awesome having the guy talk so much. He didn’t seem like the type hat was going to just spark a new conversation topic on his own, but he was answering all of Emmett’s questions and providing more than one-word answers at that. It didn’t seem like it was going to take long for him to get to know Jasper. Just the fact that he was from the South was great… that meant that there was a chance that their lives had been similar. Except… that idea went down the drain when Jasper said how long he’d been a vampire. Jasper had been around a lot longer than Emmett had been, and that made him feel like he had good reason to be intimidated by this guy with scars all over the place. He couldn’t be scared away too easily, though. Eighty-seven years. And yourself? The younger vampire scoffed. I haven’t even been alive that long. That made Emmett believe that Jasper had had a lot of interesting experiences in his life because anyone who was still killing humans after almost a hundred years wasn’t doing it because they had a control problem. Fifteen. But lay off the age jokes—Carlisle told us you were nineteen.. that makes me a year older than you. Of course he was joking… he otherwise knew better to imply that Jasper was going to joke.
It’s been an… interesting experience. Hah—he called it. Big on travelling? Emmett had been. You could only go so long in one place without getting bored out of your mind. What brought you from Tennessee to here? Ah, that question always came up… and what an interesting story that one was. A bear brought me here.. a black bear. He chuckled a little just thinking about it—how now he was stronger than any given bear in the world. I was hiking in the mountains alone… stupid mistake number one. Bear found me—it was stronger. I must’ve been doing a good job being conspicuous that day because Rose found me too… would’ve been nice if she’d beaten the bear to it though. Of course, it was the bear that had led her to finding him in the first place… so It was completely worth it. She’d have done it… but she hadn’t been a vampire for more than a couple years… so she figured Carlisle was a safer bet. He got how Jasper was feeling though, as far as being new to the family and all. Emmett had thought it was weird, granted waking up a supernatural creature after thinking you were dead would confuse anyone.
Jasper deciding to stay in the house all day didn’t bother Emmett, though it only added to his curiosity regarding why Jasper had such an issue being around humans. Like… to put it bluntly… if you want to kill them, kill them. Don’t stay away. But.. he wanted to stay away? It was like he couldn’t make up his mind. I’ll stay here, if that’s alright by you. Fine by me. Eighty-seven year olds are allowed to make their own decisions without parental consent, he assured, though he couldn’t wonder any longer. Jasper, can you be around them? He still had his normally happy tone, though he did find it important to make sure the guy knew that he wouldn’t be judged by his response. It’s hard sometimes, not gonna lie, but it gets easier. He had no clue what Jasper had gone through to have such a hard time thinking about spending the day in a high school.
I’m sorry. Those were probably the two most confusing words Emmett had heard out of Jasper as of yet. Why was he—What? It was you? Hah, oh okay, so we’re gonna play that game where one guy has the cool power and can use it at will while the other sits around doing nothing about it. It became clear very quickly, though, that Jasper hadn’t meant to do what he did, and Emmett believed that he wouldn’t do it again intentionally. But seriously.. so much better than Edward. I’m an empath. I can feel others’ emotions as well as project mine onto them. That was unintentional though. It won’t happen again. Dude, don’t worry about it, that’s like ten times cooler than what Edward can do. Then it hit him. Jasper could project his own emotions onto others. Wait.. those were yours? If you’re feeling that shitty right now then you’re definitely holding back on me. I swear, man, I don’t bite. What was that about?

So we've already gone over the fact that Emmett was talkative and amusing, and and he overall seemed a lot less judgmental than Edward and Rosalie (then again, Jasper was kind of judging them in saying that they were judgmental, but..whatever). Jasper hadn't exactly planned on teasing Emmett about his age but he smiled a little anyway when he was told not to. 'Carlisle told us you were nineteen.. that makes me a year older than you' "Physically, I suppose, you're a few years older than me actually. Does it matter?" Not sarcastic or anything, just like..actual curiosity. I mean, they were vampires..so, he didn't see why that particular number would make a difference but.. well we get into the whole double life terror mission later so moving on.
'Big on travelling?' "I hadn't been.. It was more out of necessity than pleasure." Running away had involved a lot of, yeah, you guessed it- running. Jasper hadn't had the time or patience to really stop and smell the roses. He was hardly as worldly as he seemed. As many states as he knew he'd gone through, as many times as he much have gone through them, most of them were just blurs of forest with no real sights or memories attached. "I think I'd like to give it a chance though." Maybe, in the future. For now he listened to Emmett tell his story, confused as to how he could talk about something like this so casually with someone he hardly knew, not long after it had happened either- in retrospect. It wasn't until he began to incorporate the names of the other Cullens that things began to fall into place. 'She’d have done it… but she hadn’t been a vampire for more than a couple years… so she figured Carlisle was a safer bet.' "So..he turned you..after you were attacked by the bear? Is that what happened with all of you?"
'Fine by me. Eighty-seven year olds are allowed to make their own decisions without parental consent' So he'd gotten the comedic vibe from Emmett, but he hadn't really seen his obnoxiousness in full effect before this. "Okay." There wasn't really much else to say in Jasper's mind. Luckily, Emmett talked enough for both of them and multiple outside parties 'Jasper, can you be around them?' Where Emmett's voice had taken on a slightly more serious tone, Jaspers had as well- yeah, it was actually possible. "Without draining them, you mean? No." It was kind of hard to imaging that any vampire didnt have that problem. Emmett seemed confident that it was possible, even got easier to be around them, but Jasper wasn't sure.
There were things he wanted to ask about the animal blood diet and how Emmett and the rest of the Cullens managed it but right now he had to explain. 'What? It was you?' He nodded. "Thanks.." He wasn't entirely sure if he'd call the power cool. It could be useful, but it had its down sides too. One of them... Yeah, now. 'Wait.. those were yours? If you’re feeling that shitty right now then you’re definitely holding back on me. I swear, man, I don’t bite. What was that about?' He thought about changing the topic, or simply making Emmett less interested in the topic.. although, there was absolutely no way he could do anything like that right now. He still wasn't comfortable enough with the other vampire to delve into that much of his life. "It's nothing..' I mean, what could he say? It had been a long.. eighty seven years and absolutely nothing about the way these vampires lived made any sense? It was like finding out he was a vampire all over again, though instead of eighteen years of things he took for granted questioned it was ten times the amount. "This just means a lot to Alice."

I know, baby, just how you feel [/div] [/style]

This was pretty awesome. Emmett actually had a pretty good idea of what the guy’s voice sounded like now that he was talking. He knew that he could joke with Jasper and even though Jasper’s personality was different, it was okay. He wanted Jasper to feel comfortable joking with Emmett and he’d work hard to get to that point. He was already doing pretty well. He was starting to hear the curiosity in Jasper’s voice. Physically, I suppose, you’re a few years older than me actually. Does it matter? Emmett laughed before running to Jasper’s window and taking a seat in the windowsill. It doesn’t unless you decide to go to school someday. You can pass as a high school student longer than I can… so you’d get to stay longer. The age never really did come into play unless talking about human related things. As a vampire, age didn’t really matter unless referring to experience when it came to controlling thirst…which… didn’t apply here. -:- Okay, so Emmett didn’t want to pry (or he really did whichever you want to buy) but Jasper was practically screaming mysterious and interesting. He was being so vague—of course Emmett was going to have questions. Though he was getting somewhere with getting Jasper to be talkative with him so he wasn’t going to push him… yet. It was more out of necessity than pleasure. Eventually, I’m gonna make you tell me that story because it sounds pretty badass. He was slowly learning that everything about Jasper’s life seemed more interesting than his… Jasper’s vampire life, anyway. And if he was from Texas than his human life must have been just as epic. I think I’d like to give it a chance though. Emmett nodded. Travelling was fun for him. It never got boring. You will with us if you stick around. We live on different sides of the country every five years. It was always near forest, though. It needed to be. Emmett preferred that anyway from being so accustomed to it. -:- So they were having possibly the most casual conversation about getting attacked by a bear and Emmett totally deserved all the credit on that one. Jasper was a lot less obnoxious about it, which wasn’t exactly unexpected. So.. he turned you.. after you were attacked by the bear? Is that what happened with all of you? Well, I was the only one cool enough to get a date with a bear. I know—not what you meant. He looked to the ceiling for a moment, thinking about how everyone had gotten there before responding. Carlisle would only turn someone if it’d safe his life. Ed was sick, Esme jumped off a cliff… He grimaced a little at the thought of how everyone had nearly been dead… Rosalie being the most touchy subject. Rose was beaten to unconsciousness. For all of them, they didn’t really have another choice. You and your friend will be the first who really chose to live with us. Not that Emmett wouldn’t have made the choice himself… but it was obvious that not everyone (mostly Rosalie) would have made that choice. -:- It was quickly becoming evident that Jasper was not comfortable being around humans. Emmett figured that was something about his past that he’d have to get out of him little by little as time went on. Without draining them, you mean? No. So he was sensing some lack of confidence there. Yeaa, man, you’re gonna have to refrain from doing that. It wasn’t something he made sound judgmental—it was more like telling him that they’d let him do what he needed to do if it meant not going to school. It’s okay— he said, shrugging his shoulders. The trees right outside your window are the best ones to climb and they're not hard to rip out. Ed and I like to see who can throw them further.. well I like it more because I always win. But it's not all bad staying here. Do what you need to do. And now the pieces were fitting together somewhat and Emmett could see that Jasper probably wasn’t feeling so confident about that part. This just means a lot to Alice. Yea, I bet it does, but you’re in the club now and we won’t let you mess it up.[/blockquote] WORDS:: 749 // TAGGED:: Jazzy!<356 // STATUS:: I’m sorry I take forever! // SONG :: Supernatural – Daughtry [/blockquote] template by keisha~! Right, it made sense that their physical appearance would determine where they fit into human society. In that regard, Jasper supposed he didn't have much to worry about. Because Emmett could tell him it was his choice and Alice could be an optimist all they wanted, everyone else would agree there was no way he was going to school with them. 'Eventually, I’m gonna make you tell me that story because it sounds pretty badass.' "It really isn't." Jasper was glad he wasn't pushing though. Carlisle knew the general gist of it and Edward knew... well, Jasper didn't really want to know what Edward had figured out. He also didn't know how Emmett would react if and when Jasper told him, but Emmett was proving to be the one he was most capable of getting along with that he and really didn't want to ruin it by telling him he'd spent the last hundred years killing for reasons other than poor self control around humans.
'You will with us if you stick around. We live on different sides of the country every five years.' Of all the difficult things that came with living with the Cullen, there was really no negative to this one. That was actually something Jasper was actually looking forward too. He listened to Emmett explain the circumstances which had caused all of them to be turned. It was extremely.. noble, what Carlisle did. 'You and your friend will be the first who really chose to live with us.' "I figured this must have been more normal for you. Considering how well you took it." It could have been a joke, but it wasn't. Jasper had really been under the impression that they were accustomed to having people join their coven, because there was no logical reason for their open and welcoming behavior (people simply being compassionate wasn't logical yeah, he had work to do). Well... most of their open and welcoming behaviors. "Or, if you are all.. Carlisle said we could, I know, and Alice was excited, but..we really didn't mean to intrude on anyone."
'Yeaa, man, you’re gonna have to refrain from doing that.' "I don't plan on it. I'm going to try your diet, I mean." He wasn't trying to defend himself (there was no defending it it was clearly wrong), just, assure Emmett that they were on the same page. He didn't enjoy killing humans. He couldn't. Feeling everything your victim felt was kind of an apatite killer. He would go as long as he could without feeding, but in the end instinct overruled what he wanted and the cycle started over again. 'The trees right outside your window are the best ones to climb and they're not hard to rip out. Ed and I like to see who can throw them further.. well I like it more because I always win. But it's not all bad staying here.' Jasper had never thought about using his strength for something like..a game (or deforestation, depending on how you looked at it). "That's creative.. " He nodded. "I'm sure I'll be able to keep myself entertained." He'd really probably just sit in this room and read books all day or something. It didn't bother him. Knowing that Emmett knew why he was concerned wasn't actually as bad as he'd anticipated. He still wasn't convinced that they'd show the same casualness in the event there was an incident (or that the rest of then wouldn't, anyway) but it was better than what he'd been thinking.

It really isn’t. Something about the guy told Emmett that he wasn’t just trying to be modest, so he figured it was a story for another time. Had he known Jasper better, he’d have paid no mind to Jasper’s potential not wanting to share that. But.. since the goal was to get Jasper to like him, he wouldn’t get all up in his business just yet. And then… hah. Jasper thought random people deciding to join them was normal. Considering how well you took it. Well, that was reasonable considering they were welcoming as a whole, but that was because Carlisle wanted them to be and some of the Cullens didn’t make much of an effort to be welcoming. Or, if you are all.. we really didn’t mean to intrude on anyone. Ah, ha. Emmett smiled a little. You caught that, eh? He had made it pretty obvious but at the time it wasn’t a point he was trying to let get across. You’re not intruding. Rose just doesn’t like socializing. Believe me, it’s not you. She does it to everyone.. she kinda ignores them. Except me—but if you want to try to match my badassery in the matter you’re setting yourself up for failure. So she wasn’t too open to meet new people but it could be good for her to have another girl around. She might warm up to your friend pretty quickly.. so that makes you next by default, right?-:- I don’t plan on it. I’m going to try your diet, I mean. Wow, he hadn’t expected that one. Oh, really? That’s perfect! We won’t have that problem, then. Dude, you can do it. We can help out. I mean, I’m not really one to talk but I’m sure we can figure it out. As optimistic as Emmett wanted to be on the matter, the truth that he was very aware of was that he had begun his vampire life with the diet, so it didn’t take him long to be okay with it. He still didn’t have very good control around people but as long as he wasn’t thirsty, he wasn’t going to be tempted by humans because they weren’t his typical “food” source. He couldn’t imagine having to get off of it after he didn’t even know how many years Jasper had been through of not having to control it. Either way, he was willing to help.. if that was possible. He was more helpful with coming up with fun things to do to pass time like throwing trees. That’s creative… I’m sure I’ll be able to keep myself entertained. Okay, but until you try it you don’t know what you’re missing. We’ll do it together sometime and I’ll go easy on you so you don’t lose masculinity points. Something told Emmett that a quiet and reserved guy like Jasper didn’t throw trees in his spare time. Emmett wondered how strong the guy was and how he managed to entertain himself. What do you like to do for fun anyway?[/blockquote] WORDS:: 557 // TAGGED:: Jazzy!<356 // STATUS:: Woopdeedoo! // SONG :: Beautiful World – Bon Jovi [/blockquote] template by keisha~! The more they talked, the more comfortable Jasper was getting answering Emmett's questions, though he was still careful with what he said. Even though he had been referring to Rosalie, the bluntness which Emmett confirmed it surprised him (you'd think after the bear story if wouldn't have.. but he'll get it.. eventually). 'You caught that, eh?' "I'm an empath," he reminded. "It was hard to miss." Though he was sure even without his powers it would be pretty clear Rosalie didn't want them around, he could have seen through her best efforts and didn't really blame her in any way. "It's understandable." I mean- he got the not being social thing. It wasn't like he was very open around these people (Emmett becoming a slight exception). They didn't have any more a reason to trust him. Still.. knowing that it wasn't him (entirely) was kind of relieving. He laughed a little at Emmett's joke and then nodded. "Alice seems to think they're going to get along well.. She hasn't been wrong yet." Jasper really did believe her when she said that she saw her and Rosalie being good friends. He just wasn't so sure that it would carry over to him right away. Rose's first impression was kind of a lasting reminder of what he's expected to happen- what they all really should have been thinking. But.. enough pessimism for one paragraph. "I hope so."
'Oh, really? That’s perfect! We won’t have that problem, then. Dude, you can do it. We can help out. I mean, I’m not really one to talk but I’m sure we can figure it out.' "Really?" At least Emmett knew now, and obviously even if he wasn't entirely disappointing of the other way of doing things he approved of this one a lot more. Jasper really did want to try. He just didn't know where to start on this one. And neither did Emmett. Emmett, however, seemed to have a pretty good starting idea as far as the whole tree throwing game went. "You don't need to go easy." Jasper assured. He could handle loss with grace, but he wasn't convinced that he'd lose either. He could tell that Emmett was strong (I mean, who couldn't?) but he was certain he'd fare better than Edward would even with his powers. Besides, he wanted to get the full experience out of this game.. and he wanted to know how strong Emmett really was. 'What do you like to do for fun anyway?' Of all of Emmett's questions this one probably threw him off the most. "What do you mean? Like.. throwing trees?" Nope, not sarcasm, this was a completely literal question. If that was what Emmett meant, he had to have some kind of equivalent. Or, he was expected to, anyway. It had been a long time since Jasper really had the time to participate in leisure activity. Between two wars and trying not to go insane and trying to find the Cullens, having fun.. wasn't even something that occurred to him.

So now things were coming back to Emmett—things that involved how certain people had been acting around Jasper that were assumed to be private. Jasper having empathy was going to make it difficult to hide feelings from him. Heh, good thing Emmett had been sincerely excited the whole time. It was hard to miss. Riiight.. that’s gonna take some getting used to, he said with a smirk. As he thought more about it, it was going to be awesome having someone around who could prove what Edward was feeling no matter how much Edward could deny something. Emmett could get Jasper on his side and Edward would get what he deserved… someone invading his privacy. Ed won’t like that, yanno. He likes being mysterious and thinking no one knows how he’s feeling. You should join team Emmett because Emmett can’t do cool shit. Something told Emmett that the serious Jasper wasn’t one to use his ability in that way, but maybe when the guy loosened up a little bit… It’s understandable. Yea, but not necessarily deserved on your part. He wasn’t going to say that Rosalie’s attitude toward the situation wasn’t normal because… well… it was. These two were strangers and they’d had an established family without anyone else for years. Even still it wasn’t like Jasper and Alice had done anything wrong. Alice seems to think they’re going to get along well… She hasn’t been wrong yet. Well Rose doesn’t really get along with people… but I’m not the psychic. Truthfully, anyone who wanted to buy clothes on a regular basis could get along with Rosalie, so maybe the psychic girl was onto something. Even with Rosalie as antisocial as she could be, Emmett was sure it was going to work out with these two. I hope so. You have nothing to worry about. Your psychic girlfriend says she’ll be friends with Rose.. and I already like you more than Edward. Seriously, the amount of negativity coming from this guy was radiating off of him. Really? Did he think the Cullens would just tell him how to live and then not help him figure it out? Really, Dude, we’re not horrible people I swear. They were in favor of the diet, so yea, they’d help. We’ll figure it out. Carlisle’s an expert in that area. And then Emmett began to worry about Jasper’s ability to have fun. It did make Emmett excited that Jasper didn’t want him to hold back, though. If there was one thing Emmett liked to flaunt it was his strength. You don’t need to go easy. Okay you’re my favorite—it’s official. Edward complained when he lost, as if he never cheated during any of their games. Emmett wasn’t cheating… he was just strong. Edward was just ridiculous. Jasper needed to have some real fun, which didn’t involve hanging out with Mr. Bella Obsessed To Be (because, yanno, Bella didn’t exist yet). Trees would most likely be involved, though. What do you mean? Like.. throwing trees? Emmett raised an eyebrow, not really understand at first. What—was he raised as a robot or something? How could he not know what he did for fun? Yeees… that.. or other stuff… yanno, fun, varies for everyone.. playing sports, hiking in the woods, anything? He stood up and paced for a second before restraining himself from grabbing Jasper’s arm (he’d have done it if they knew each other better but at the point in their relationship Emmett figured Jasper wouldn’t like that very much). Dude, we’re going outside. Comon.WORDS:: 624 // TAGGED:: Jazzy!<356 // STATUS:: I’m on skype with you. // SONG :: One Sail – Dia Frampton [/blockquote] template by keisha~!

The obnoxious narrator would like to state that Rosalie's people problems are far too transparent to be private, but as Jasper had told Emmett, he had no intentions of using his powers against anyone.. except maybe possibly definitely Edward after Emmett corrupted him enough and assured him he wouldn't be kicked out of the house for it. 'Ed won’t like that, yanno. He likes being mysterious and thinking no one knows how he’s feeling.' Okay, so Jasper could understand that. None the less, Emmett posed an.. interesting case. 'You should join team Emmett because Emmett can’t do cool shit.' "I suppose that's only fair," he said, sounding completely serious. Jasper could only guess that Emmett was joking (the humor thing would become more natural in like fifty years). If not he'd have been slightly concerned.. However, logically speaking, Emmett was being helpful and friendly and Edward had poked around in his head. So yeah, it wasn't all that hard to figure out where he loyalty was going.
'Rose doesn’t really get along with people… but I’m not the psychic.' He nodded. His best guess was as good as Emmett's. There was no way to predict what was going to happen with the girls. But if people as different as Emmett and Jasper could have a civil conversation, maybe there was hope for Alice and Rosalie. "Alice said something about going to talk to her.. So we'll see what happens soon enough." If Alice and Rose did end up being friends, Emmett would probably be right. They wouldn't have a problem... With that anyway. 'Dude, we're not horrible people I swear." "I didn't mean to say you were." he responded quickly. He certainly didn't think so. He was more just surprised by.. well, mostly everything. Everything was surprising. but they weren't bad surprises. 'We’ll figure it out. Carlisle’s an expert in that area. "That's good." He needed one of those.
And just when it seemed Emmett couldn't get any more surprising..'Okay you’re my favorite—it’s official.' So, that was a pretty good accomplishment for day one. Really, Jasper couldn't help but be happy about that. What made him better than Edward he didn't understand (he seemed extremely clueless and uninteresting compared to Emmett). He figured Edward wasn't really the 'fun' type. And I mean, it took work to be less fun than him. Since Emmett had to like define it. 'Yeees… that.. or other stuff… yanno, fun, varies for everyone.. playing sports, hiking in the woods, anything? Okay, so, he got where this was going now. That was good. They were on the same page. "Those both sound fine.. I just don't have a preference I guess." Jasper had no problem doing any of those activities if Emmett wanted to. He just didn't have enough personal experience to find one more fun than another. Although it seemed like if Emmett had his way, that wasn't going to be the case for very long. 'Dude, we’re going outside. Comon.' "Um, okay... Where are we going?"

I suppose that’s only fair. SUCCESS. Obviously it was only fair. Edward always had the advantage and he wasn’t cool so he didn’t deserve it. If you’re going to be on my team, then, I think it’s only fair for me to tell you that when you guys first got here Edward was definitely prying. I don’t know what he heard… he doesn’t tell me anything… but he has a mind-reading face. It’s ridiculously obvious. Before, Emmett had to sort of be on Edward’s team because he was the only option but now that he had another person he was so done with that and this totally sounds formal and fancy like it should since this is like back in time. But yea, Rose had Alice and Emmett had Jasper and Edward was going to be left alone and things were going to be great. Jasper needed to like lighten up about it though, because there was no reason to be so serious. Emmett felt like the guy was watching everything he said and he was being all mysterious sounding and Emmett was going to get him to open up pretty soon. It was now going to be a major goal of his. I didn’t mean to say you were. I didn’t think you did, dude, calm down, he said sincerely and with a grin. And yea, he’ll help you. He can get anyone to stick if you really want to. The guy seemed genuine enough and he seemed to have a good enough reason to try it for them, so Emmett was sure he’d do his part as far as effort was concerned. It was slightly concerning that Jasper didn’t seem to know what fun was. Emmett was going to have to show him everything. It would take weeks to catch Jasper up on the whole fun concept but they’d do it. For now, he’d start with the basic ‘don’t wanna leave the house too far or put any effort into this’ fun. Those both sound fine.. I just don’t have a preference I guess. You will once I’m done with you. Emmett jumped out the window (doors were overrated) and called back up to Jasper. Um, okay… Where are we going? We’re going to fun. Does it matter? He headed into the trees a little ways, still staying pretty close to the house. Not far… here’s perfect. Emmett then ripped a tree out of the ground, picked a large stone up, and carved an E into the tree bark. With Edward, I had to use two letters. But you’ll be J… we’re saving the bark! Not that they’d need the bark once they were separated from the ground but we’re not going to talk about that. He then tossed the tree away from the house, resulting in a big crash a little ways down the forest. You throw, then we run to go see whose went further. He was clearly very excited about this. Just make sure it goes away from the house. One time Edward and I broke a few windows and like half of Edward’s bedroom and Esme wasn’t happy about it. Usually Edward and I make bets, but you’re a newbie so this is just for fun.WORDS:: 570 // TAGGED:: Jazzy!<356 // STATUS:: hi // SONG :: 50 Ways – Train [/blockquote] template by keisha~!
