PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
tala's short stature and slightly bulky build make for a very strong young man, however he prefers his brains over brawn. his hair is cut short-- he prefers it that way. longer hair could really get in the way while phasing. his skin is a light copper tone, like his sister's. as a wolf, tala is pretty massive, standing well over the height of a low car. his fur is a dark brown, and this color remains constant throughout his body.
PERSONALITY:
awkward, intelligent, and passive, tala can seem like the least intimidating person you've ever met. however crossing him is a pretty bad idea. he knows how to use his abilities to his own advantage and he uses logic and intuition to do what he needs to do to protect his territory. he can be easy to get along with and will always say what he's thinking unless he believes it'll just cause conflict and confrontation. simply put, he doesn't say things to piss people off. his words as well as actions are heavily thought out.
his whole outlook on being a shifter is a very positive one, and he thinks it's pretty cool that he is able to use the gene (in a few years, he'd probably had lost the ability of that gene activation so he's pretty happy he didn't miss the deadline). the one thing he treats pretty negatively about being a shifter is being locked under alpha command--not having his own free will at all times. although this idea doesn't make him thrilled, it usually hasn't turned out to be a problem and he doesn't have much of a problem with his alpha. the thought-sharing thing isn't so great either, but the enhanced senses are pretty cool and he'll take what he can get.
flaws.. yea.. he has those. they're most prominent when he's in a stressful situation. he'll tend to overthink things causing him to come up with a solution much slower than under normal circumstances. get him nervous and he'll sit and talk about all the possible outcomes of something instead of putting his thoughts together to form a plan of action. he can also be spastic, and overbearing when it comes to his sister.
HISTORY:
washington can be a pretty boring place to grow up.. especially around forks. tala didn't grow up in forks, but the general area had always been his home. the forest was everywhere and acted as the only interesting thing about the place. he was smart, and he liked to learn more about his surroundings, spending a lot of time outside when he wasn't doing schoolwork or reading. every now and then, pushing his sister's buttons was a source of entertainment but for the most part, the first twenty years of life seemed uneventful. everything revolved around his classes and grades. with plans to become a high school math teacher, tala was ready to graduate from Peninsula College and to finally taste some excitement. those plans, however, were cut short.
of course.. it wasn't the excitement that was changed.. it was the cause of it. tala had been sick for days with what he'd thought to be mono. even being familiar with the stories about shifters and the mono-like symptoms before the transformation, he'd never thought that he'd be lucky enough to become a shifter. the day he phased, it didn't take much to set him off. he'd been a ticking time bomb from the moment we woke up that morning. having been ill, he'd missed classes and his work load was through the roof. it's not hard to make fun of TJ for being a nerd seeing as his initial explosion was over a pile of papers he'd completed. careless from a fever, he knocked a cup of coffee over and it didn't take longer than a few seconds for the work to become soiled. frustration grew within him, leading to an implosion, ultimately causing him to phase.
after the first few hours of 'what the hell is going on here?!', tala figured out what was up fairly quickly. he's still not crazy about the idea of fighting with vampires (or the idea that those actually exist) but adjusting hasn't been horrible. soon after the transformation, he stumbled upon another pack nearby and found himself joining them under the leadership of keisha and devon. most of his time is spent around his pack as well as his sister, jacki, for whom he'd do anything to protect even though annoying the hell out of her with his intellect and sarcasm is more fun. although it's important to him to remain tactful, annoying jacki is something he finds amusing a lot of the time. after all, she's the boring one who had to stay human.. to continue aging while for the moment he gets to freeze in time. schoolwork is still a top priority for him, however nowadays he's got a little more on his plate.
