Devon didn’t really travel around La Push since she arrived only because it was supposedly another pack’s territory. After a while though the female shifter got curious. And if it really was a big deal, she could just leave. Or fight them. Depends on her mood. Though Devon would most likely become hostile and want to fight. And then her alpha would have to come save her and all that good stuff. Of course, that would only be if they were rude and automatically kicked her out. Otherwise Devon would put on a fake smile and try to act all nice, to get in good standings with at least some of the pack members. Though Keisha had told her about one of them, Paul…? Was that his name? The female shifter really should have paid attention to her alpha’s rant about the man. To be fair Devon had just bought a new magazine and was reading about all the new clothing lines. Keisha should have known better not to rant to her while there were fashion pictures in front of her. The girl loved her clothes.
Hence why she was roaming the forest in her thigh-high boots, skinny jeans, and white sequined tank top. With all her random accessories that would make it hard for a normal girl to track through the forest. But she wasn’t a normal girl, she was a shifter. A very powerful and beautiful being. The only thing that annoyed her slightly was the wolf instinct to be in a pack. She loved her alpha and her alpha’s brother but that was it. The rest of her pack annoyed her beyond words. They were tolerable to a point but then after a while all Devon wanted to do was slap them across the face. But she had to interact with all of them since she was a beta now. A title she had coveted on hundred years ago in her old pack, but now slightly regretted the responsibilities. Checking up on people, listening to their problems, helping the alpha organize random pack things. She was better off on her own. At least that’s what she thought some days.
It was a hell of a lot easier to social climb when she didn’t have a pack to factor into equation. Dev sidestepped a giant root, before she finally found an opening the forest. Devon thought she was stuck in this place for forever. Slowly the female shifter walked out of the clearing and onto…a cliff?! Well that was unexpected. She rolled her eyes and sighed heavily before sitting on the edge of the cliff. Well this was not fun. Where was she? This is why Devon should really start thinking these things through. She was lost in another pack’s territory. Somehow this was planned better in her head.
Devon stared at the open waters. How bad would it be if she just jumped now? It seemed like it would be fun. And she was in need of some fun lately. All she’s been doing is pack things and random run into vampires. The latter was the worse of the two. The only shifters she had been in contact with were her pack members. And Keisha was the only one she would be willing to hang out with on a daily basis. Suddenly Dev stood up and began taking off her jewelry and boots. She was going to jump and then quickly run back up here to get her clothes before anyone noticed. Sounds like a plan! Devon pulled her tank top off when a scent of another shifter hit her nose. Ah crap.
She felt the cool breeze on her skin that wasn’t covered by her lacey bra. The scent increased the moment her tank top hit the ground. Just wonderful. The female shifter glanced at the trees behind her, attempting to see where the shifter might be. Her body tensed slightly at the sound of footsteps. She squinted her eyes at the forest. “Hello?” Dev questioned putting her hands on her hips. She stood there shirtless, waiting for a response.

For Paul, he was in a pretty good mood. He hadn’t been given a patrol shift for the day which was like the rarest luxury he was ever awarded. He had the whole day to do what he wanted without hearing the annoying thoughts of his pack members running through his head. Better yet—his thoughts for the day would be his own. That was pretty awesome. It took him a while to figure out what he wanted to do (since the option never really came up) though after a bit of thinking he came to the conclusion that avoiding people was the best thing to pass time. And so.. cliff jumping came into his head. He loved the rush, and it was just going to be a good day. The sun was shining and the birds were chirping and why the hell did he smell a shifter? Of course, something had to ruin what had seemed to be perfection.
The scent was a shifter.. which must have had something to do with Keisha. Jeez—didn’t they have something to be doing that gave them no free time (or maybe that was just a Sam thing). He’d had a not-so-pleasant experience with her recently and did not want anything to do with anyone in that pack. It was just really inconvenient, to say the least, that there was another pack around. Maybe some of the pack members were closer to pleasant human beings than their leader was.. but those hopes were slightly over the top. Then again, so were those hopes for anybody around lately. That’s why Paul had wanted to get away from people in the first place. Evidently, his good mood wasn’t going to last the whole day.
He was already there, so he wasn’t going to just turn around because of another shifter. He had come to cliff dive and he was going to cliff dive. It wasn’t like he planned on instigating a conversation. Approaching the cliff’s edge, he saw the girl. He hadn’t seen her before, though he figured that other pack had too many female shifters to be normal. Paul had thought Leah being a shifter was an accident in the gene pool or something and now all of a sudden they were everywhere. This girl in particular had her shirt off, seemingly having been ready to jump into the water. Paul knew he wasn’t supposed to want to acknowledge her presence but this was just too tempting to resist.
Hello? Looking at her (at her face, he wasn’t that disrespectful—he had a girlfriend), he raised an eyebrow. Hi, he responded. Look, I’m all for freedom of expression but I don’t think you should be stripping in a public area. Of course, he was joking. The place was public, but hardly touched by humans. Now that he ruined the whole ‘don’t talk to her’ thing, he had to make sure. You know a Keisha? If she didn’t, that’d have been a problem because that meant another potential pack around.

Devon’s nose flared as she waited for a response. She knew he was there. She could smell him. At least she was relatively sure it was a male. Female shifters were extremely rare, though you wouldn’t think that looking at her pack. Both the Alpha and the Beta were females. Yea that was a disaster waiting to happen. Between hormones and plain old female attitude it was a wonder that the two didn’t already rip each other apart. The patience they had for each other was saintly, which is probably her and her alpha were such good friends. They were the only people in the world that could stand each other without going crazy. After a few seconds Devon heard a response.
Well finally. Her eyebrow arched up slightly as she looked at the other shifter. Yea, it was definitely a male. She had better luck with them than with her own gender, which should be a sign as to who she should avoid. Of course she rarely listened to her alpha let alone the universe. Dev smirked at his comment, “Well I’m certainly not going to jump into the water with my good clothes on.” That’s just a ridiculous notion. Devon just got these clothes too! Was he crazy? She would never ruin such a great outfit. Though throwing on the ground probably wouldn’t be better. But Devon was a free and stubborn spirit; if she wanted to strip then she was going to strip.
“What are you going to do about it? Arrest me for indecent exposure?” Devon question keeping her tone light with mock curiosity. Slowly the female shifter unzipped her pants and let them drop to the floor. Dev arched her eyebrow up at the strange male. If he didn’t have a girlfriend then he should have no problem with her stripping. And if he did have a girlfriend, then it still shouldn’t bother him because surely he has seen all the body parts a woman has. Hopefully. Never know could be a virgin. Looking at him closely, Devon was pretty much going to assume he wasn’t.
Devon ushered her clothes into a pile. Was she being drastic? Yes. But someone had to make a better impression on the other pack, one better than Keisha’s. Surely Devon’s exposed skin would help with that. Or it could go the opposite way. Her impression could be worse than the one Keisha made. It was completely up to how this new fellow’s reactions. No matter what Devon was still jumping off this cliff, without her clothes. He didn’t get a say in the matter. She froze for a second at her alpha’s name but then kept fixing her clothes. “Depends…has she hurt you emotionally, physically, or mentally?” Dev wanted to know what the others were saying about her alpha and by default her pack.

She had a good sense of humor—he’d give her that. She responded to him as if she wasn’t doing anything out of the ordinary, surprisingly not seeming to be embarrassed at all. It was no big deal that she was not wearing an acceptable amount of clothing. He didn’t really care what she was wearing, but it surprised him how easy-going she seemed to be. Well I’m certainly not going to jump into the water with my good clothes on. He looked around in mock confusion as if he had forgotten where he was standing—the middle of nowhere. Hm, dense forest, not the best place to be wearing good clothes, eh? It was probably the first time in a while that his sarcasm was meant in good humor. But seriously, if she was complaining about getting her “good clothes” a little wet, was it a good idea to risk getting them like.. dirty.. torn.. other things that could happen to nice clothing in a forest? That was why Paul was most commonly found in an old pair of shorts and no shoes. Okay.. that wasn’t the only reason, but it was a contribution. No use in wearing nice clothes out there.. but hey.. this concludes the rant on clothing.
And then she got a little sassy with him. Nah, I’m a nice guy so I’ll letcha off with a warning this time. He approached the edge of the cliff and looked down at the water, making sure the area was clear below. He went to that particular clearing very often so he was very familiar with what he needed to do if he wanted to cliff dive without being a suicidal idiot like Bella. He looked at the girl, wondering if she was really planning on going in. I mean.. it was kind of intimidating—what was left of the clothes she was wearing would get wet. Most girls he knew wouldn’t be crazy about that, nor would they enjoy the cold water. That was why he sort of took a quick liking to this girl. She seemed less of a prissy princess and more of a badass. You goin’ in? Or were you waiting for the waves to calm down? He smirked at her, clearly having asked the question in a challenging tone. The waves weren’t calm at the moment, but they weren’t so vigorous that it’d be dangerous to dive.
By the way she responded, it was clear that she knew Keisha. She must’ve been in her pack—lucky her. Paul had not liked the Alpha one bit and he wasn’t afraid to show it. If you asked him, she was conceited, and altogether unpleasant. He didn’t appreciate her attitude or the fact that she got amusement out of driving him insane. He wasn’t one to judge bad character, but she was not one of his favorite people. He couldn’t imagine what it’d be like to be under her Alpha command. Pft, she can’t hurt me. But she’s…um.. an asshole. Yea, that. He didn’t really care what this girl thought of her—he wasn’t going to sugar-coat that. You’re in her pack? Bet you’ve heard great things about me then, he said, rolling his eyes just thinking about it. There was no way Keisha went back and told everyone how amazing Paul was as a human being. I’m Paul, he added, revealing himself as that asshole he was pretty sure had become infamous within that pack under Keisha’s word.

Devon smirked and shrugged at the boy. “My logic is a bit flawed, I’ll admit it…” Again, a normal girl wouldn’t be hiking through a forest in the clothes she wore today. But let’s be realistic here. Dev was not your typical female. For one she was a being that can shift into a wolf at any moment possible. That was not normal. Not normal in the least. No normal human being has that ability or the ability to even think it is possible. But who wants to be normal? Being different was so much better. The different and unique people made the world go round. It was good to stick out in a crowd and just know who you are, because you were different from the rest of them. Devon liked the thought of standing out and being a leader in a crowd. Dev knew that any position with actual power in a social group is that of a leader. And after years of social climbing, that’s the only position the female shifter desired. Though you would think after a couple months of being a beta Devon wouldn’t want to be a leader with all of its responsibilities. Those things were ridiculous. Especially the ones requiring her to be civil to those she can’t tolerate.
“A nice guy, huh?” She questioned, “There aren’t many of those laying around nowadays.” It was true, Dev knew that much. The female shifter didn’t believe in human kindness. She was kind herself, every now and then. She also knew that people can be kind. Like her alpha and other pack members. However she knew that such kindness was rare. Devon grew up a hundred years ago as a normal teenage girl. The only thing was that she grew up in a shifter pack into an omega family. So the pack showed the exact opposite of kindness to her on a daily basis. Keeping this in mind, made social climbing and manipulating people easier for her. Anyways! Back to a happier subject! The female shifter glanced over the edge at the waters. They weren’t that bad, and certainly not something she was scared of. Smirking, the female shifter was about to answer his question but stopped at the sound of his answer.
Devon let out a laugh at his small description of her alpha. Yea, sometimes Keisha could be a bitch, but that was why the two girls got along so well. They both were mean to each other and neither one really cared. They could say anything they want to each other without hurting the other’s feelings. They really had an interesting friendship, one that should be studied by psychologists. But that’s not the point! Oh, yes, Paul! That was certainly the name Keisha brought up multiple times while describing the other pack members. “Oh, yea…I heard wonderful things about you,” Devon stated with heavy sarcasm as she smiled at him. “I’m Devon, by the way. Keisha’s beta.” Even though being a beta got on her nerves time to time she always liked using the title to those that understood it. It meant she actually went somewhere in life and didn’t stay an omega like her family predicted she would.
The female shifter sighed and glanced over the cliff once more. Standing here with only underwear was starting to feel a little awkward. She wasn’t subconscious of her body, but the whole point of getting undressed was to go cliff diving. And nothing about the waves changed. They were the same as they were five minutes ago. “And to answer your earlier question…” Devon’s voice trailed off as she backed up a little, winking at Paul, the female shifter went into a sprint and ran off the edge of the cliff. She felt the wind encompass her as she fell downwards. A small scream escaped her lips for a few seconds before she felt water all around her. Adrenaline pumped through her veins as she swam to the top. Once she broke the top of water, Devon let out a breath and glanced up at the cliff. “Coming in?!” Devon shouted up at Paul, she was relatively sure he heard her.

She was funny. He liked that. Most people tended to go all defensive when Paul broke out the obnoxiousness, but she just went along with it. It made her easy to be around and it had only been a few minutes. It hadn’t taken much time for Paul to come to the conclusion that she was a billion times better than Keisha.. and like half of his pack. My logic is a bit flawed, I’ll admit it… She admitted to her flawed logic. This girl was a decent human being. Paul was.. like.. in shock. Well as long as you’re aware. Guess it doesn’t matter either way if your clothes are just gonna come off. This, ladies and gentlemen, was an example of Paul being friendly—not to be mistaken with flirting. If Paul was flirting, oh, she’d know it. She’d know. But he wouldn’t flirt with her.. no matter how charming she was. It wouldn’t even cross his mind. That was him being a decent human being.
A nice guy, huh? There aren’t many of those laying around nowadays. It’s true. I’m a rarity. You’re pretty lucky. So his normal not-pissed-off personality was a bit cocky.. you all saw that one coming. It was better than fight picking, nonetheless. The thing was he knew she knew he wasn’t a nice guy. If she’d talked to Keisha, she’d heard negative things and nothing more. He knew this because he had no positive thoughts about Keisha floating around in his own head, so there was no way she did. I heard wonderful things about you. It did bring some curiosity to him—what Keisha had actually said about him but since he didn’t know, the best he could do was continue to not be an asshole to her and make her think that Keisha was crazy.. or.. think more highly of him than Keisha did. That’d be nice too. Not that he cared what anyone thought of him other than Rachel but it’d be nice to have someone to have conversations with that didn’t piss him off. Glad she filled you in then—this way I don’t have to tell you anything about me. Keisha’s beta? Well he didn’t see that one coming. Beta, huh? Sounds like a fun job. Paul wouldn’t last two seconds having to keep any sort of authority over the Quileute shifters.
Well, they had gone there to cliff dive.. no matter how the waves looked. So the small talk was over and Devon got a running start before jumping over the edge of the cliff. He watched her with a raised eyebrow as she resurfaced. Coming in?! Hell yea! Stay outta the way, he responded with a smirk before doing as she did, backing up and running off the edge. His arms wrapped around his knees in a cannonball position as the air rushed upward around him, slowing his fall until he broke the surface of the water. He loved the feeling of falling into fast-moving water. He was weightless… until he needed a breath. He swam back up and floated on his back, splashing Devon with his hand. Aren’t girls supposed to be scared of this kinda stuff? Or are betas exempt? It was going to take him a while to get used to the female alpha and beta thing.

Devon was glad he was being friendly and not flirty. It was generally hard to tell with guys sometimes, but after a while Devon got the gist of it. Plus with her good looks, the ones that came with the transformation and her natural beauty, generally either a guy was flirting with her or was just down right mean to her. She rarely met a guy that just was friendly to her. Though there a lot more recently that acted this way, her pack mates for example and now Paul. So it wasn’t becoming a rare thing anymore. It was a nice adjustment Devon would have to admit. Even though she gave people animosity on a daily basis, Dev was always taken back when she received it. Was it double standards on her part? Yes. But that was Devon for you.
Dev let out a laugh at his comment about her being lucky. It wasn’t luck that was on Devon’s side. It was charm and wit. She knew exactly how to act to get the desired results if she tried hard enough. Even though she wasn’t putting much effort into this encounter, Dev was pretty happy with the results she was getting from Paul’s responses. “Don’t think you’re getting off that easy, I want to know all your secrets,” Devon stated with an dramatic and sarcastic tone. She obnoxiously rolled her eyes. She honestly could care less about Paul’s secrets and all of that nonsense. It was just fun to have someone around that didn’t read your mind every time you shifted. Having the element of surprise is nice. Just nice for someone not to know what you thinking about or who you are thinking about. Not like Devon had anyone special to think about like her pack mates. The Whites had each other. The Catoris had their imprints and each other. Devon didn’t have any blood family and didn’t have an imprint. So the only people she had close to her were her pack members, but they weren’t on her mind all the time. That would just be weird.
The female shifter swam over to the side a little as she waited for Paul to cannonball off the cliff. Dev grinned as she watched him near the water. “I’m not like other girls or other betas,” Devon retorted as she splashed Paul back, making sure the water hit his face. It was true; she was different from most girls as shown. And she was definitely different than most betas. For one she wasn’t too keen about the whole order thing so her alpha didn’t really make her follow orders. In fact Keisha more or less asked her what she wanted to do instead of telling her. She barely had any responsibilities. Keisha did most of the work. Generally Devon was considered a person with a title but no responsibilities. Though every now and then she did have to do things. She complained about them all the time but they weren’t really forced on her. Honestly Devon did them to help out her friend because every now and then she would feel an odd sense of guilt. It was rather bothersome.

This girl was entertaining. They were going to be friends—it was decided. Devon’s narration was correct. It wasn’t luck… it was Devon. She knew how to talk to him the right way, he figured. Not many people could do that without annoying the hell out of him. He didn’t even need to be flirty with her (not that he would—he couldn’t even get through a conversation with this girl without missing Rachel in the back of his mind). They were having sincere, casual fun. All Paul could really wonder was how this girl managed to get along with Keisha… because they didn’t seem very similar at all to him.
Then again, he didn’t give Keisha a chance to show him a good side of her, so he couldn’t really make assumptions. He just wasn’t going to admit that. Don’t think you’re getting off that easy, I want to know all your secrets. Paul laughed. Like a shifter could have any of those… they didn’t exist within packs. Paul could suppress thoughts for a reasonable amount of time but after a couple hours on a shift it was impossible not to let things get through. Okay, here’s a secret—I’m probably going to hate everyone in your pack, and I’m going to be a real pain in the ass. He was half joking.. and half not. He didn’t hate Devon, but with her pack so close to the Quileutes, there was bound to be conflict eventually. Your turn. She had to spill too—they couldn’t hear each other’s thoughts. It was nice.
I’m not like other girls or other betas. He was starting to figure that out. Not that he had many betas to compare her to. She splashed him in the face and in doing so she confirmed what she’d said. She had to be different—anyone else who splashed Paul in the face would have been being killed moments later. He scoffed a response. Clearly. I mean, you just splashed me. Do you know who I am? He knew he was an asshole. And he knew that most people in the area knew that.
She didn’t seem to care, though, so something about her was different. As he swam toward shore, he called back at her, How many of you are there? Any partiers? If there was fun people who would have awesome parties then Paul was pretty sure he could work something out no matter how annoying they were. Before you say ‘what about you?’, the answer’s no. Buncha boring guys for the most part. Paul would consider everyone in the pack boring except Seth and Jared… but only because Seth was so damn enthusiastic that it got amusing and Jared was just fun.

Paul! /// CHECK THE THREADS Devon was never going to get used to the whole mind thing that packs had. It was a little invading and annoying really. It was nice to hang out with Paul not and have him read her mind. “It’s cool; I pretty much hate everybody in my pack anyways. Well no…I don’t hate them, they just annoy 9 out of 10 times.” It was true. Despite Keisha being like a sister to her and Pete was the little she never had, Devon got annoyed with her pack. More so than someone should. Keisha always had a bug up her butt about things, unless she was alone with Devon and Pete. Then fun Keisha came out, otherwise she was normally a tough ass with something to prove. Then there was Pete who was too shy for his own good. If he was outgoing on a normal basis he might actually have more friends outside of her and Keisha. Then there was Tala. That boy was just so serious all the time and crazy about school. Don’t get her wrong, Devon loved her pack members and would do anything for them. That doesn’t mean she had the ability to tolerate them all the time. Sometimes they weren’t that bad though, sometimes Devon liked hanging out with them.
“My turn?” Devon questioned as she pursed her lips. What could she say about herself? “I am unforgettable in every way possible and have more enemies than appendages.” All very, very true. Devon manipulated herself around the world. Sure there are still some people out there that ‘like’ her and some people that still try to look for the good in her. But most of them have been stepped on and therefore are very angry with her. Humans, shifters, and vampires. The girl wasn’t a very nice person and not the type of person to make actual friends. It wasn’t until she met Keisha and came to Forks did that change. After a couple of years of traveling with Keisha and Pete, Devon discovered that life wasn’t all about climbing a social ladder. As it turns out she was actually missing a lot by having true friends. Which is probably why she was friendlier with Paul here than she had been before with strangers.
Dev let out a laugh at his response to her splash. Oh! Big man on campus here! She rolled her eyes dramatically and let out another chuckle. “You are the pain in the ass that will hate my whole pack. I think that warrants a splash.” Yes, she was using his ‘secret’ against him. But it was all in good fun. She wasn’t using any malice in her tone at that statement. Of course Devon would become friends with an ass hole. He was one of the few people in the world to keep up with her. She obviously wasn’t flirting with him though. It was clear in the way that she hadn’t touched him affectionately yet. No Devon wasn’t one to automatically mount someone after minutes of talking, but the woman knew the light brush of fingers and simple touches like that was enough for male’s bodies to react. And she, personally, did not want Paul reacting that way.
The female shifter quickly followed Paul to shore, attempting to match his pace. Though it was a bit hard for her to stop trying to pass him up. She had a huge competitive nature, it was very innate and hard to suppress on a normal basis. “There are a lot, but only five of us actually live here. Keisha likes to give people the ability to come and go as they please. As far as partiers go, I am probably the most fun person in the pack. At least the part that is staying here with us.” It was very true. Out of the five of them living in this small place, Devon was probably the only one that went to parties on a daily basis. And probably the only one that actually liked going to those parties. Well Keisha was fun when it was just them. But as far as partying went, Dev was definitely the only one that partied. The only one that actually embraced life to the fullest. Well her version of the fullest. She slowly climbed onto the sand as they reached the shore. The brunette tossed her hair to the said and began to ring it out. Honestly in that moment all she could think about was ‘thank god for water proof make-up’.

[/color] It’s cool; I pretty much hate everybody in my pack anyways. Well no… I don’t hate them, they just annoy me 9 out of 10 times. Paul scoffed, very amused by this. Maybe it was a shifter thing… being annoying and arrogant and generally unapproachable. ”Doubt they’re worse than mine. One of ours is cool… then there’s a hyperactive kid and I try to avoid the rest at all costs.” Paul could tolerate people but there was a difference between tolerance and politeness and just because Paul could hang out with them without doing illegal and violent things didn’t mean he was going to be nice or hold back how he was feeling. How he was feeling was usually negative and he looked like the bad guy for not lying…which was ridiculous if you asked him but nobody ever did. ”I know how it is. You avoiding them now or what?” The main reason Paul was talking to her currently was because he was avoiding people but that wasn’t surprising because that was, more often than not, the case.
And then they were doing like a sharing and caring session which was surprisingly only making Paul more curious about the girl and confused as to why he could tolerate her and not like everybody else. Evidently not every shifter was annoying. Then again he really didn’t know her well to think she wasn’t annoying, but Paul was easily annoyed and he figured that if she was annoying he’d have known by now. I am unforgettable in every way possible and have more enemies than appendages. Paul let out a laugh with that one—this girl was more like him than he had thought possible. ”Who needs appendages anyway? I don’t think I can name four people that don’t hate me.” Not that everyone hated him… it was more like everyone just didn’t like being around him because he could be such an asshole. It wasn’t his fault people didn’t have better senses of humor. ”You, though, don’t seem like that much of an ass. I mean, really, you have enemies?” He didn’t see much wrong with her.
You are the pain in the ass that will hate my whole pack. I think that warrants a splash. He smirked with mock shock. ”Whoa, using my secret against me already? That’s not cool.” He wasn’t flirting either. He was having fun. He didn’t do it too often so it was a different experience. ”Everyone needs an asshole—I’ve got you covered. You’re welcome.” He was only balancing out her life. She should have been thankful. Paul was pretty excited when she mentioned that she was a partier. Paul loved hanging out with Rachel but Rachel was a lot more responsible and wasn’t big on partying. Jared could party but… Paul didn’t spend much time with the guy. And well everyone else Paul knew wasn’t really someone he’d have any desire to spend any extra time with. ”Holy shit, yes. A partier—I thought we were going extinct.” He sat in the sand a couple feet from her as she messed with her hair.

Paul! /// CHECK THE THREADS “I have a guy that is a hermit, a boy that is too shy to even talk to his girlfriend, and a girl that wears less clothes than a stripper. I would gladly switch places with you.” Okay so her pack wasn’t really THAT bad. She got along with all of them but to be honest she would probably enjoy her life more if they were like Paul. Pete was too naïve and shy for half of the conversations that Devon wanted to have. Tala was nice and could hold an intelligent conversation but was extremely awkward and a little slow when it came to normal social matters. And Keisha was her best friend, almost like her sister, but sometimes Devon just wanted to force her into an over-grown hoodie or something covered more than her bikini. There were many things she would want to change about her pack but would she want to trade them for another pack? Some days yes. “Not today, today is a good day for them. I was just looking for an adventure.” It was a good day for her pack, none of them were around for her to avoid so she was technically not avoiding them.
Devon grinned at him. These two were getting along great and she wasn’t even pretending to be something she wasn’t. The only time someone actually liked Dev was when she tried to be charming and the opposite of her normal self. Either that or they were Keisha. But normally when she was herself people couldn’t stand her. They found her stuck-up, spoiled, sarcastic, and extremely out there. Apparently these were all bad qualities. Devon didn’t see herself like this though. Well sarcastic and extremely out there, yes. But she wasn’t spoiled or stuck-up. She knew what she wanted and wouldn’t settle for less. And anything she got she worked hard for. It wasn’t just handed to her without her working in some way to achieve it. “Well you can definitely name one, now. I certainly don’t hate…not yet at least.” Devon gave him a small teasing wink, not flirting at all. “I know, shocker, right?” She giggled a little and then added, “thank you. You aren’t bad yourself for the asshole that my alpha ranted about.” |
[/b] “I’m sorry, I won’t do it again…today.” She smilled at him playfully and let out a laugh. Devon liked having someone to joke around with. Someone that could keep up with her and go back and forth with her. Match her wit and undeniable charm. It was like a breath of fresh hair. Once Devon finished her fishtail braid, she let out another laugh. “Great so I have a banging ass and a banging asshole!” Both very true. Devon had an amazing ass that could go for days. And Paul was hot and an asshole, the typical guy that Dev would have a one night stand with. Of course she liked Paul enough to not cross that line. For once the woman actually wanted to have a friend more than a sex partner. “Nope we just generally avoid places like this. You know where there is zero to no parties around.” Seriously, this place was so boring. Devon had to go all the way to Seattle to go to a legit party. And even those weren’t like the ones in New York or California. Those were amazing and often the better part of her memory. At least the things she could remember from those nights. There is a whole section of her forties that she doesn’t remember, but has proof of it in the form of a moon on her hip.
