Had anyone else been watching, they’d only be able to see the sky lightening gradually, but with her vampire eyes, Alice could see the small tidbits of light filtering through the thick clouds. It had to only be about five thirty in the morning, made five forty-five. But she was up. Like she really could have slept anyway. Besides, she enjoyed watching the sun rise. Normally she watched the sunrise with Jasper… but he’d gone out hunting before school today. Though she didn’t need to, she sighed lightly and turned from the window. He room was unusually clean and a snowy white in color. There was no bed, but there was a lounge sofa instead. Alice would often pass the nights there with a good book. Last night she hadn’t though. She’d been out for only about an hour with Jasper hunting. But for some reason she wasn’t all that hungry. Maybe it had something to do with Victoria being so quiet. It was strange. Alice hadn’t seen much of the woman and it bugged the psychic vampire to the core. She wondered if it had anything to do with the mangy mutts wandering around the reservation. In that sense she really had no idea.
Moving through her room in sweeping graceful movements, Alice entered the hall and glided easily down the stairs into the kitchen. The house around her was silent. She wasn’t sure exactly where Rose or Emmett were… then again she probably really didn’t want to know. And Edward was with Bella. With a small smile on her lips, Alice danced around the kitchen, busying herself by straightening the utensils they never really used on the counters. Finally, after fussing to her heart’s content, Alice swept from the kitchen and down the front hall. It was about an hour before school started, and even with her driving skills, she still had to be on time. Taking her rain coat and scarf off the hook near the door, she put them on and glided over the threshold at the same time. She shut and locked the door behind her in one fluid movement and headed to the garage. There she paused in the doorway for a moment before deciding on taking Jasper’s car. She loved her’s, but it was a bit more conspicuous. Besides, he was going to be the one driving home.
Alice slipped easily into the driver’s seat and pulled the keys out of her purse. She stuck them into the ignition and turned them. The car purred to life just as the garage door opened behind her. She pulled out quickly, too fast then any normal person, and hit the garage door opener as she sped down the drive. For a moment, she watched the garage door close behind her then turned her amber eyes on the road in front of her. At the end of the drive, she pulled a sharp right, fish tailing slightly on the wet asphalt as she accelerated. Part of her really didn’t want to make it to school today. She didn’t want to do anything except try to see what was going on. Yes. It bugged her that much that she hadn’t seen anything of much importance lately. She kept driving, not actually seeing where she was going, but knowing the way from having driven it so many times. With and without everyone else. She was trying to see anything besides the road in front of her. Some place else she’d never seen. Something different. Anything! It was making her a bit mad. She pulled in a deep breath instead to calm down… at least enough so to act normal for everyone else.
Finally, she pulled into the school’s front parking lot. She was still going too fast. Either Alice didn’t mind, or she didn’t really seem to notice. It was hard to differentiate with her at this particular time. She zoomed perfectly to her spot, almost before anyone else really noticed. She glimpsed Bella’s truck and Edward’s Volvo, so they were here at least. Jasper would probably turn up soon too. Same with Emmett and Rose. She parked perfectly in the lot and sat in the car for a moment before she turned off the ignition. She pulled on a sparkly smile and climbed from the car. She moved easily and in small dancing movements, making any passerby stop and stare. Hitting the button on the electronic key, she locked the car and glided up the steps to the school, ducking inside quickly and out of the rain. Time to be normal. Alice smiled to herself. Yeah. Normal. Funny stuff.

ooc: i'm sorry this is so late and far from good >.<
Jasper very rarely went anywhere without Alice. When he wasn't with her, it was usually because he was with Emmett or another one of the Cullens (or likewise, she was shopping with the girls). Being so far from the others that he couldn't couldn't sense another person's emotions if he tried was an unusual occurrence, but it gave him a sense of reality, strange but comforting. He hadn't actually gone too far from Forks because he wanted to make sure he had more than enough time to get back before school started, but it was far enough his head was clear, and he easily chased and took down two large predators. Normally he didn't hunt alone. It was easy to..loose yourself, for any vampire, and Jasper always felt (or been told) that particularly applied to him.
He and Alice had gone out hunting together, originally, but she'd been distracted, and eventually decided that she wasn't hungry. This was why Jasper hadn't wanted her getting involved trying to find Victoria. He knew it was irrational not to use her gift as an asset but he hated watching her get frustrated over things she had no control of. He'd gone back home with her, but left again shortly after, knowing that he needed to hunt before school. He missed her, of course. He would have preferred to stay and make sure that she was alright (okay, he would have preferred to stay even had he been completely sure she was alright) but he didn't think he'd be able to wait until tomorrow if he was going to spend the day around people, so he'd very unenthusiastically left in the middle of the night.
Now it was hours later, and he was running back. He'd cleaned up first, and was now wearing something that Alice would approve of (there was a distinct difference between appropriate and Alice-appropriate). Jasper was never very particular about clothes the way his mate was (he was partial to dark colors and long sleeves, for reasons that had nothing to do with stye) but he would make the effort because he knew that Alice cared. Her reputation had far superseded his own. It was clear. But Jasper didn't mind it. So long as he was good enough for Alice (and he'd never have any idea why on earth, aside from a vision) that was enough for him.
He wouldn't have had to see the school to know that he'd arrived around the same time as most of the other students. The emotional bombardant was a stark contrast from the freedom he'd had in the forest and he was exerting most of his concentration getting it under control. Enough to have not noticed the rain that was now pouring. It had started a few hours ago and continued on and off- very typical of Forks weather- but as he slowed down to walk at human pace through the parking lot he realized just how wet he'd gotten. It wasn't actually the feeling but being wet that bothered him, but wasn't a fan of making a mess by dripping water all over the place. He noticed his car in the parking lot and smiled lightly, knowing that Alice was inside. Having her to focus on as he walked into the school, he removed his jacket and set it over one arm, no trouble avoiding people as he walked through the hall. Approaching Alice, he smiled again. "I hope I didn't keep you waiting."

The smell of blood was relatively thick in the air, but for once in her entire life, it actually disgusted Alice. It was one of those feelings (if should could of course) that made her want to throw up. It was because she was stressed. She hadn’t actually known that vampires could stretch themselves that thin by stressing out about something. But apparently she was learning fairly quickly that it was completely possible. All this uproar about Victoria coming after Bella was driving her insane. Alice hadn’t seen anything lately. A couple of random decisions, but nothing that could help them when Victoria came.
She huffed a little breath, frustration setting into her mind as she danced down the hallway. Alice saw some of the people look at her strangely, but she didn’t care. It wasn’t that bad really, so she ignored it as she continued down the hall way and to her locker. She smiled dreamily to herself, thinking about how strange it was to be in school for her age. Well actual age. Not the apparent one. But she actually kind of liked it. It made her feel a little bit more normal. Though of course the courses never changed, and neither did the people really. Well the faces did, but agendas didn’t. Even so, the Cullen clan tended to keep strictly to themselves. Most of the school thought them weird, so they left them alone. Little did they know.
Reaching her locker, Alice spun the dial quickly not actually looking at the lock. She knew her combination by heart… and probably the combination of almost every locker in the entire school. Yeah, she had been there that long and that many times. Oh well. Her locker popped open and she shimmied out of her trench coat to store it there for the day. Her outfit was extravagant to say the least. And she paused as a vision of Jasper flooded her mind as he walked through the parking lot. She cut off the vision and smiled brilliantly. She fixed her top just right, and readjusted the flowing fabric over her shoulder, just as Jasper walked toward her. Alice turned, brilliant smile still in place, and kissed him quickly on the cheek as he approached. “Of course you didn’t, silly,” |
she answered in a light chiming voice. Glancing around she lowered her voice to barely above a whisper, knowing well that he would be able to hear her. “How was the rest of your night? I’m sorry I didn’t stay out longer, I just wasn’t that hungry,” she said apologetically. Alice had actually been very upset this morning because she wasn’t hungry. She loved to spend as much time as possible with Jasper in any way she could. She had just had so much on her mind lately that she just couldn’t focus on anything, even food. It was because of this whole Victoria situation. Jasper hated that she was even on watch for this, and he knew she was starting to pull her hair out from pure frustration. He made a mention of it whenever he could really. Alice didn’t mind though. She had this power so they may as well use it… even if it was driving her mad. After another moment, she slammed her locker shut and turned quickly on her toes to look at him. “Shall we go to class my dear?” she asked him with a small chiming little laugh. She also took the moment to eye his outfit. Alice knew that he always tried to look presentable for her. Honestly, she didn’t know how he couldn’t he was just that damn sexy. Jasper also had this strange notion in his head that he may one day not be good enough for her. It didn’t matter, though. She’d already seen it and they were together for as long as time existed. “I do completely approve of the clothing, by the way,” she said with a dreamy smile. “You look rather ravishing and very mysterious. I like it!” Laughing lightly, she took his hand in her own gripping it tightly for a moment before loosening her grip and letting their clasped hands fall to their sides. She tended to be a bit of a fashion freak, she knew (I mean holy crap look at her clothing for today), but she just loved it. There were little things about it that just so screamed her and what she was about. The sheer ability to change on a whim was one of them. And hey, if you looked hot, you felt hot too! At least, that’s what Alice and her sister Rose tended to believe in. ooc: aw thank you! i love your alice <3
For the most part, it was easy to avoid students walking into the school. The Cullens were generally seen as unapproachable, and it was evident by the little changes in people's dispositions as they glanced his way (well, that and the fact they could always hear anything being said about them some way or another) hey wanted nothing to do with them. People thought they were odd, for start. (Really, they had no idea..) Luckily, the avoidance was a completely mutual goal. They were at school to keep up appearances. Right now they had a lot more to worry about than classes they were probably qualified to teach and a lack of modern society's definition of a social life.
Before Jasper said anything Alice turned to greet him. She'd seen him coming. She always did. Seeing her smile as she turned around and kiss his cheek took them away from the crowded hall. He was with Alice. So the world was again turning in proper rotation and in the moment little else mattered. Very quickly their conversation turned into a private one. “How was the rest of your night? I’m sorry I didn’t stay out longer, I just wasn’t that hungry,” He could tell she was more upset about it than she needed to be. "There's nothing to be sorry for. It was fine." He nodded assuringly. Of course, uneventful as it had been, he'd have preferred it if she was with him, especially since he could tell she was stressing about Victoria. "Alice, don't think about it right now, please." It was easy to tell when her thoughts were straying. Alice was hardly one to get frustrated about anything, so the things that did bother her bothered Jasper twice as much. Of course Victoria and the newborn army were priority right now, and the top of all of their minds. Jasper was as eager to find out what she was planning as the rest of them, and certainly not one to talk about how they should be more positive (because he'd recently learned that was Emmett's turf and he was much better at it).
"Shall we go to class my dear?" Their hands interlocked almost immediately after she'd closed her locker. "Lead the way." He was only mildly surprised that she'd chose to comment on what he was wearing. You'd think eventually, being together every day for as many years as they had, the compliment would loose meaning, but it never did. Jasper was sure in a hundred years he would still appreciate hearing her approval. "Thank you ma'am. I don't think you need me to tell you that you look absolutely stunning." Of course he'd think that no matter what she'd decided was the 'in thing' this morning. And her confidence (attractive in its own right) was no reason to keep from mentioning it.

He could say that she had nothing to be sorry for all she wanted. That wasn’t going to stop her from it though. They had originally planned to go out together, and her appetite just didn’t want to work. It was the stress really. She hadn’t even thought that she could stress like this and have it actually effect her. Seriously, Carlisle needed to do some serious research on this stuff before it drove Alice completely insane. Not like it wasn’t already, but it was just that thought that really mattered to her. She didn’t know what it was like to be human (she had forgotten all about her human life) but she was fairly sure that stressing to the point of not eating was not a good, or healthy, thing to be doing. Ah well. C’est la vie, right? Alice liked to think so! Either way though, she shrugged a response to him. “I know…” |
she started, disappointment clear in her voice, “I still feel bad for just leaving though! I don’t know what is wrong with me anymore.” Alice was deeply frustrated. That was extremely apparent. And Jasper tended to worry a lot about the things that frustrated her. Mainly because those things she would eventually get so mad at that she would usually take off on her own to go take care of them. Or to find out what was going on at least. That was probably the one and only down fall to her power (if you were counting the ever sky rocketing stress level). Alice could only see decisions. And there were a lot of things about a decision that were subject to change rather quickly. For whatever reason, sometimes the vision thing just plain out refused to work if she didn’t know the person she was dealing with. Which was why the Victoria deal was so freaking frustrating in the first place. Smiling again and just shaking her head at Jasper, Alice knew he was really just trying to help and ease her mind. “Alright I won’t. At least, I’ll try not to,” she answered him playfully. “But can we at least talk about it when we get home? Maybe that will help?” Innocent enough, right? She hoped so. And she pulled out her puppy dog eyes and everything for that one. But hey, maybe talking about it more would actually help. Dang, it may even pull out a vision or something. If she could just relax about it she would, but the fact Alice hadn’t seen anything in a good couple months was definitely starting to freak her out bit more then she really liked. Taking his hand and squeezing it tight, she smiled at him. She started to dance off down the hallway with him by her side (as it should be in her perfect world). Alice couldn’t help but grin from ear to ear at his compliment. Every time, it got her and she was on a permanent cloud nine for the rest of the day. Then again Jasper always seemed to have that effect on her. And it never got old either, which made it even better. “Well, thank you darling,” she answered in a sweet and obviously elated voice. She bounced up and landed another quick kiss gracefully on his cheek. The two walked easily down the hallway, avoiding most of the humans of Forks High. More like parting the Human Sea, but whatever, ya know? Finally reaching their class, Alice turned and pulled Jasper inside, spinning around as she did so. She ignored the stares of their class mates as she wandered them to their seats at the back of class. She turned and sat on top of her desk as smiled him, nose wrinkled up slightly in amusement. “How many more times you think we’re going to have to take English?” she asked in a voice to soft for anyone but Jasper to hear. She ruffled through her purse for a moment and pulled out her homework for the day as well. That was one of the downsides to all this. With all the faking being human stuff, they had to do their homework too. And they could just use their same essays every time they repeated school; they still had to be changed slightly ( stupid plagiarism rules). Luckily though, because of Alice, they oftentimes had time to prepare for these assignments well in advance. She smiled up at Jasper for a moment then said, “We’re having a movie night tonight, okay? No worrying about anything, no thinking about anything… just relaxing. The two of us. And maybe Rose and Emmett, but otherwise just us. I’ve decided!” She smiled indefinitely. This was happening. No matter what. She needed a night for just her and Jasper to be together and relax. Tonight was going to be that night. Jasper shook his head when she said she still felt bad for leaving. He knew he couldn't convince her otherwise, but he wished he could. The two of them had all the time in the world to spend together. There were more important things for them to be focusing on right now. Jasper could only be so hypocritical to tell her to stop thinking about it when it was bothering him just as much. Not in the same way.. not exactly.. but just the idea that something might happen, to anyone- Alice especially, was unshakable. He took her hands and held them between them, placing something more positive in her head because the last thing she needed was something else to be frustrated over. If Jasper could help, he was going to. And he just happened to have the ability to help with that problem. "There's nothing wrong with you," he said quietly but clearly, before lifting her chin and giving her a kiss. She was perfect, exactly how she was, even as frazzled as she was. And Jasper felt the need to make sure she knew that.
He smiled back when Alice said she'd try not to think about it. "That's all I'm asking." Of course, there was only so long they could put the topic aside. He should have seen her next question coming. Jasper took a deep breath. "Of course, if that's what you want." It really wasn't fair because even without the puppy dog eyes, there was no way Jasper could say no to Alice. She knew he didn't want to talk about it. But for her.. of course. Especially if it could help her have peace of mind. "Just promise me you're not going to do anything without telling me first." As much as he hated seeing Alice frustrated purely on the premise of him loving her and wanting her to be happy, he also knew her. He knew as soon as she was pointed in the right direction, found out something they didn't know, she was go off and try to get more. A prime example was what happened after Edward left. Absolutely no words could describe how scared Jasper was that she wouldn't come back after he last heard from her. How slowly time passed.. It was hell. And maybe it was selfish but he was not letting her do something like that again.
They started to walk to class together, Alice practically dancing as some students moved out of their way. Jasper let her lead, as he always did, their hands still intertwined until they were seated in their English class, Alice on the table, him in the seat behind her. “How many more times you think we’re going to have to take English?” It was hard not to be amused. Jasper had been going to school for the least amount of time of all the Cullens, so he wasn't quite as tired of it yet (not the work, anyway. school itself.. that was a different story) "I'm not sure there's a number that large in existence yet." He shook his head, smirking slightly. I mean, they weren't going to age.. ever. They could go to college instead of high school but it was still the same thing. They really probably would be doing this forever. "On the plus side, we graduate next year.. again." Assuming they hadn't left Forks because of some mass destruction before then or Edward overreacting they'd get a short break. Seeing Alice pull out her paper he realized he'd left his things at home. When he'd gone back, he hadn't even been thinking about anything else other than just changing and getting here. Alice had left already and he wanted to make sure she was alright.. Okay, so, she wasn't the only one horribly distracted by what was going on. Luckily, you could always leave it to her to come up with something to put people in a better mood. "We’re having a movie night tonight, okay? No worrying about anything, no thinking about anything… just relaxing." Just knowing how happy it would make her he fully supported the idea. Not to mention you didn't just talk Alice out of planning. "There's no where else I'd rather be."
