Waiting. Oh god, did Gwen hate waiting. It was a pain in the butt. It wasn’t like the vampire didn’t have time, she was just naturally impatient. What made it worse was that she was waiting in a mall. A mall filled with humans, unreasonably priced items, and greasy fast food smells. The thing she hated more than waiting was being at a mall. But somehow, her new best friend managed to convince her to go to the mall today. They were going to have a girls day there. They were going to shop and ‘hang out’. It was such a strange concept to Gwen. She only had two friends in the last two hundred years. One turned her and abandoned her. And the other one was at home grading finals or something along those lines. She didn’t have a problem with having a guy for a best friend, but honestly it was a pain in the butt to see the same face over and over again. Especially after two hundred years. It was amazing that the two of them hadn’t killed each other yet…or had sex. Then again they were trying to pass as each other’s’ siblings, so that could get really awkward around the household. Sighing, Gwen pushed more greasy fries around her plate while she tried to ignore the looks of all the other shoppers. Ugh, malls. There had to be some point to them, other than driving the vampire completely insane.
Honestly, Gwen didn’t even know what she was going to do on this girl’s day. There wasn’t anything she needed or wanted in this place. And to be honest, she didn’t really want to sit around fitting rooms and watch Rose model for her. What was she even going to say? Nice top? Pretty necklace? Gwen had no idea what to comment on when it came to fashion. At some point in her life Gwen was very feminine, but that was a long time ago. Back when she was forced into dresses and made to act like a lady at all times. That was one thing she did not miss about her human life. She always had to wear proper dresses and accessories. Had to act like a lady around everybody except the help. Even her family wanted expected her to act like a lady. Her father and her best friend, both males, were the only ones that allowed her to be her. She didn’t have to act like anything around them. Her father even let her wear his clothes on occasion. When they didn’t have others over or she wasn’t going out. But of course those times were few and far in between.
Sighing, the vampire leaned back in her chair and dragged out her cell phone. Some type of ‘smartphone’, as the salesman had called it. Technology was always evolving in strange ways. There was always something new out. Unlocking the screen, she quickly scrolled through the few numbers she had before landing on Rosalie’s name. She quickly texted her ‘where be you?’ Had she known the other would be late, she would not have showed up so dang early to the ungodly place. Of course Rosalie did seem like the type to take forever to get ready. High maintenance is what people called those types of females. How the two managed a friendship was beyond Gwen’s understanding. They really didn’t have much in common other than resenting their own nature. But Gwen was in need of some friends lately, or so PJ kept telling her. She reluctantly took a small bite of her fries before throwing them into the garbage next to her. Lucky shot. Taping her fingers on the table, Gwen checked her phone once. She decided to give her new friend five more minutes before she booked it to a nearby movie theatre.

It was definitely going to rain today. Not like Alice didn’t know that already. But it was helpful to know things like that anyway. She was taking her time getting ready. Mostly because she had time. Alice danced and twirled around her plain white room. But it was filled to the brim with random trinkets and things. She smiled wistfully and gently brushed her marble fingers over some of the small crystal figurines on a shelf. Many of the things she had were collected in the years since she had turned. The crystal figurines were her favorite. Each were hand crafted, and were the only things that had been hand made for as long as she could remember. She found that each figure, though they came from different times, were so similar and remained eye-catching over the years. She chose to think of herself and the rest of her family like that. Like these crystal figurines, so delicately carved and made for years and years. Alice liked that, and she put on a cute little smile at the thought.
She slipped gracefully into the stool at her vanity, fluffing up her chocolate brown hair. Alice turned her head one way and then another, smiling at her reflection in the mirror. Alice didn’t generally like to think of herself as cute or good looking. That was Rosalie’s job. But she did admit the vampire genes did make her very pretty. She liked that. It was nice to be able to stand out once in a while. And to be loved by Jasper. That was even better. She never was originally. Not a soul in the world loved her. Not even her parents. But now, with Jasper, there wasn’t a day she would go without being loved. Though Alice had had a rough start to her life (even though she didn’t realize it), she thanked every day that she had a family, and that she was free to be herself and to be loved for who she was.
Alice turned to her closest and picked her outfit for the day. She always dressed in the highest end fashions. That was one of her and Rosalie’s favorite things to do, was go binge shopping and buy almost everything in the store. The worst part was they did this fairly often. But today, they weren’t going to go binge shopping. Just wander around and make a list for when they did. And Rose had been telling her about this new girl she met. It was obvious that Rose liked her, which was very strange for Alice's sister. Rose didn't generally have many friends. Alice herself on the other hand loved meeting people, so when Rose brought up meeting this new vampire, Alice was more than happy to oblige. Of course Alice already saw that Rose was going to ask, so Alice kind of answered before she even asked. This new vampire girl, Gwen her name was, seemed cool, between what Rose had been saying and when Alice saw the two other girls hanging out.
Alice continued getting ready, all the while dancing and twirling about her room. She was getting more and more excited. She couldn't wait to meet Gwen. Rose spoke of her a fair bit. Anybody that could even make Rose's head turn (other than her family) deserved applause. Something told Alice that there was more to this vampire to make Rose like her. Rosalie had a deep self loathing of vampires, so she wasn’t so tolerant of those outside her family. Even when Alice joined the Cullen’s, Rose hadn’t taken to her for a while. Of course, once they finally started getting along, they were the best of friends and pretty much like real sisters. Alice loved Rose, and since she couldn’t remember her life before she was a vampire, Rose was basically her sister.
Finally, almost an hour and a half later, Alice was finished getting ready. She was dressed in adorable clothes, and ready to go out and show herself off to the world. Looking at the clock, she had realized that she had made them a little late. For whatever reason, Alice seemed to like taking her time to get ready. It was just one of those things she loved to do. Rose, even though she was a princess wasn’t like that at all. Alice danced quickly down the stairs to meet up with her sister. Almost half way down, she vaulted over the railing. She danced into the kitchen, smiling happily at Rosalie. “Sorry I took so long, Rose! I lost track of time!” |
she said happily, giving Rose a angelic smile. “I’m ready though now! And besides, we’ll get there right on time still!” Alice let out a small bell-like laugh, ready to follow Rosalie out to her car the second her sister said so. Her sight was a gift. Honestly, she didn’t know what she would do without it at all. She’d probably be lost, and be completely useless in the Cullen home. And that wouldn’t make her happy at all. At least she could give the family the same help she had given her when they took her in. This was getting so ridiculous. She had actually been ready for an hour. She didn’t need hours and hours to get ready to go out. Because of the way she was raised, fashion came naturally to her. Every day she was told she needed to dress to impress. That way the most fabulous guy, not to mention the richest, would notice her. Not like men didn’t notice her anyway. She was drop dead gorgeous. Little did she realize that that saying would become her reality. Sometimes she thought about what would have happened if she hadn’t been so shallow. Then she never would have been with that pig fiancé of hers. Or maybe she would have. She didn’t really know. Part of her wished she knew a vampire that could have told her what would have happened if her past was changed. If she had her way, she would be buried six feet under by now.
Shaking her head to rid herself of her thoughts, Rose huffed a sigh and rolled her golden eyes. Alice couldn’t be taking any longer. Rose’s sister generally took quite a while to get ready. She should know better by now. But still, Rosalie loved her sister so much. Even with Alice’s visions, Rose couldn’t be that mad at her sister. Ever. But there was always room for a little bit of irritation. Today happened to be one of those days. Rose had asked Alice if she wanted to meet Gwen, so Rose had set up a trip to meet at the mall before going to hang out. She would like to shop, but she knew Gwen wasn’t that type of girl, so they’d probably hang around there before going to catch a movie. Which was just fine by Rose. If only Alice would hurry up.
Rose’s golden eyes turned and looked out the kitchen window. It was nice to finally find someone that agreed with her and shared her hatred for their immortal life. Sure she loved her family, but they didn’t get it. Alice, Emmett, Jasper, Edward… none of them really knew how she felt. Gwen did though. Gwen loathed her vampire life just as much as Rose did. And both for pretty much the same reason. Both of them just wanted their humanity back. Rosalie couldn’t believe she had found someone else that hated the life just as much. Most other people didn’t mind being a vampire, some even enjoyed it. She didn’t get it. Rose hated, no loathed, this life. All she wanted was human feeling. That’s all. Nothing more, nothing less. Gwen understood that better than anyone Rose knew.
Glancing at the clock she groaned. “Alice, c’mon already!” |
she muttered. Frustrated, because she had wanted to get to the mall early. Now they weren’t even going to have the chance. She leaned back against the counter, arms crossed over her chest, golden eyes surly and concentrated on the ground. After, what seemed like a full half hour, Rose finally heard Alice’s footsteps coming down the stairs. She pushed herself off the counter and scowled at Alice for a moment when the other girl walked into the kitchen. Rose rolled her eyes. “It’s alright. Come on,” she said. She couldn’t help but smile and her sister’s childlike cheerfulness. She laughed when Alice mentioned her vision. “Alright, Alice, if you say so. But if we wait any longer we are going to be late!” Rose grabbed her sister’s arm and linked it in her. Making their way out to the car, Rose couldn’t stop smiling. She was super excited that her two best friends were finally going to meet. Rose got into the driver side of her sexy red BMW convertible, while Alice jumped into the passenger seat. Rose basically floored it in reverse and sped backwards out of the garage. She quickly threw the car into drive and punched it, smirking slightly as she did. Mechanics were a little bit of a guilty pleasure for her. And just because she was a girl, didn’t mean she didn’t know how to drive. Rose continued to speed down their driveway, out onto the barren back roads, and finally to the main road into Port Angeles. The car ride was fun, the two girls drowning out the sound with music and being crazy, singing at the top of their lungs, laughing at each other, and having a great time all the same. Rose knew Alice and Gwen would get along just fine. That was Alice’s nature. Finally nearing the mall, Rose turned down the radio a little bit. She looked, and pretty easily found a parking spot pretty near the doors. She drove (somewhat crazily) down the strip and claimed the spot. Just as she was throwing her car into park, her phone went off. Alice smiled knowingly, and Rose smiled back, looking down at her phone. The text was from Gwen, asking where they were. Rose let out a little laugh and quickly texted her back. “We just got here! We’ll be in in two seconds” she replied and sent the text off. The two girls quickly grabbed their bags and hurried inside. Making their way to the middle of the mall at the food court, Rose’s eyes cast around for Gwen. She found her sitting along the back wall, watching the other shoppers eat their food. She hurried Alice and herself over to her. “Gwen! Hey! Sorry we’re late!” she said loudly as they neared, ignoring some of the human boys’ stares. “Believe it or not, it was NOT me this time!” Rose let out a laugh and gave a brilliant smile. She stood aside and then let Alice present herself. “Gwen, I’d like you to meet my sister, Alice!” she said happily, in a clear lovely voice. Rose was ecstatic about these two meeting and she was really hoping that it all went well today. It would mean so much if the two could hang out with her on a regular basis. Gwen tapped her foot angrily on the floor as her patience started to dwindle. Stupid high maintenance, princes, vampire. Gwen inwardly grumbled at the thought of waiting for an hour at a mall. Just when she thought all was lost, her phone vibrated in her pants. She suppressed the urge not to smile at a memory of a joke she made. The joke was obviously made about vibrator. A small joke that she ironically made in front of Rose when PJ texted her to come home. A text that started a small fight between her and her brother. Maybe she should buy him a small gift to make things better. Or she could just listen to him for once and not be such a twenty year. Yea, she was going with the gift. It would be less painful for her and it wouldn’t harm her personality in anyway. Gwendolyn read the text and shook her head. “Lies!” she muttered chuckling softly to herself. She pressed a few buttons to reply but somehow her screen got her on the internet. Stupid touch screen, smart phone. They weren’t smart at all. They were just plain on sensitive. Like men.
Men were very sensitive, they claimed to be stronger than women but that was a total lie. Every woman that ran into her managed to handle her default mode and even attempted to be her friend. All the males seemed to get offended and become her enemy. Many she was worse around the male species due to her past with them. Well not so much them, as him. Gwen reminded herself to tell Rose about her run in with her potential mate. She only says potential because she was still furious at him for everything he did to her. Gwen looked around at the other males in the mall, hopefully there was one nice guy here. That’s when she noticed all of them staring in the same direction. That’s when she saw Rose and another small vampire come towards her. Males. They are the same. No hope for any of them. She shook her head when Rose approached her table.
“Lies,” Gwen stated with a smile to her new friend. “Its always your fault Rose.” Gwen and Rosalie have hung out a couple times before this and become good friends. And each time they hung out Rose was always late. She was even late showing up to her house the one time Gwen stopped by. It was just for a moment, to pick Rose up for the movies. But of course she was already out and told her that she would be home in a few minutes. Which was a complete lie. Something Gwen vowed to bring up around her all the time. She was not going to let her live that down. It was too good to just let go. And Rosalie had to know that, especially since that was Gwen’s personality. She grinned at her new friend again before turning her attention to the smaller one.
“Alice…” Gwen stated getting to her feet. She held out her hand for the other vampire to shake. She was trying her hardest to not go into hostile default mode. She had promised Rose to act a little nicer than normal. But it most like wasn’t going to last long. “So what’s the first stop on this trip through hell?” Yeah, that didn’t last long at all. Gwen was willing to go shopping with the two sisters. As long as they didn’t spend the whole day doing it and would be willing to see a movie with her later. A very violent and testosterone filled movie. With lots of explosion, swearing, a small romance story, and maybe a sex scene or two. How did Gwen get that this? She used to be such a proper and girly female. But ever since she changed into a vampire and the freedom to do whatever, she automatically fell into the tomboy category. Well the tomboy with a hint of girl habits category. If there was such a thing. If not well she was making it a category, starting today. Or maybe tomorrow.
The brunette vampire looked around at all the stores. What was she supposed to get her brother in this place? It had to be the perfect ‘I’m sorry for not listening to you on a normal basis’ gift. Also a ‘I am also sorry for being so mean every hour on the hour’ gift. Maybe they make cards for that. She could see hallmark coming up with something like that. Or just a general sorry card, that has you fill in the fill. That was most likely the case. Thinking about apologies, Gwen remembered that she had to inform her friend about Tristan. Well maybe not now, with her sister standing right there. She was comfortable to rant to Rose but not to Alice. At least not yet. All she wanted was some advice on how to handle the whole situation and how to tell if he was her mate. Reading romantic signs seemed to be more of Rosalie’s thing. At least that’s what Gwen had assumed after spending a couple days with her. If Tristan was her mate, why couldn’t it be simple like Rose and Emmett? Just pure love, no anger, no grudges, no mistrust. Just love. Ah, screw it. Her life wasn’t meant to turn into a romantic story.

Rose exclaimed, putting on a fake pout for a moment. Alice started giggling, an innocent bell like little noise. So Gwen thought Rose was a liar about how much time it took her to get ready. No surprise there. Look at her outfit today. Purple suede boots? Really, who else could pull that off? No one. At least no one that Alice new. But even so, it was time to set the record straight. Still smiling brightly, Alice said, “It really wasn’t her fault… at least not this time! My bad.” Her voice was bright, musical, and a little dreamy. Rose just shook her head at her sister and smiled slightly. The way the two got along was amazing. Of course, Rose thought Alice’s power was the coolest thing ever. But Alice didn’t. That happened usually, especially for Rose’s brother and sister. Alice however, used vision to see what would happen to her family as well, and always kept them out of trouble. Rose would have been caught hundreds of times over if it wasn’t for her sister. Rose watched the exchange between Alice and Gwen. Alice being Alice of course, stepped forward and gave Gwen a quick hug. “It’s so nice to meet you!” Alice said happily in her musical little voice. She gave a slight giggle as she stepped back. “You don’t really like me at first, actually you think I’m a bit much to handle, but we’re going to be great friends! I’ve already seen it.” She paused before she took another step back as Rose let out a lovely laugh. Alice had seen a little snippet of something when she hugged Gwen, but she didn’t have time to dwell on it too much. The taller blonde flicked her hair over her shoulder and shook her head at Gwen. “Alice can see the future, that’s why she said it like that,” Rose said, feeling the need to explain the strange dictation. Especially since Alice had somewhat mentioned it herself. Her smile widened at Gwen’s statement, almost turning into a smirk. “You honestly thought we were going to keep you stuck in a mall?” she asked, a little amused. “Come on. I know you a little better than that. Besides, me and Alice could shop all day if we wanted, but we won’t do that to you… at least not yet!” She added the last part as a joke. But she was dead serious about not staying in the mall. That wasn’t what she was up for today. Rose was secretly a gear head. Just because she showed herself off as a fashonista, didn’t mean she didn’t know her way around an engine. She actually had plans to stop by a shop for a bit, and get some bling for her car. Not like she didn’t have the money. But she was unsure of what she wanted. Alice wasn’t into this kind of stuff, but the smaller brunette vampire said she would tag along and help put in her opinion. Rose of course knew that Gwen would be right on board for this. And after, they’d go check out a movie. There was one out about vampires, and Rose had a strangely enjoyable time at watching how terribly portrayed the vampires were. She also got twisted enjoyment out of watching vampire slayer movies. Alice had frozen for a moment and then looked at Rose, shaking her head slightly having seen what movie they were going to see. It figured. Grinning, Rose gave a brilliant smile to Gwen. “Well first off, we’re going to an auto shop. I need some stuff to pretty up my car” she said, laughing to herself. She had yet to tell Gwen that she loved working on cars. This was going to be an interesting thing to explain. She smiled. “Then we’re going to see a movie.” It wasn’t really a suggestion. More of a that’s what they were doing, but Rose could see room for something else. She smiled at Gwen. “So what do you think?” Rose asked. Alice gave a short laugh. The smaller girl shook her head at her taller sister. She then smiled at Gwen and asked politely, “Is there anything you need here before we go?” She also made a mental note to herself to ask about what she had seen earlier when she hugged Gwen. It was something about a boy, and Alice had gleamed that it was going to be a major surprise. Gwen let out a small chuckle, something she had to get used to. It had been a while since the girl had actually friends outside of PJ. Especially friends that made her hate the world a little less than normal. She was about to open her mouth to rebuke Rosalie but then suddenly Alice spoke up. “I’ll accept that…this time,” Gwen stated smirking up at her blonde friend. It was nice to just joke around with another female. Gwen would never openly admit it but she did regret being hostile sometimes. Only because it would be nice to have a conversation with someone other than PJ. After two hundred years you run out of things to talk about. Not to mention Gwen was cagey about a lot of her personal life, even with PJ. S that limited a lot of conversation. Though somehow her brother manages to get her to open up every now then. Like every twenty years or so.
The vampire was a little taken back when Alice gave her a hug. Again, not something Gwen really did on a normal basis. She wasn’t a touchy feely person, even when she was human she was like that. Her family would try to give her hugs; Tristan would even try to give her hugs. But they were always awkwardly returned or pushed away. Of course that would only make them hug her again, just to annoy her. One of the few things her father and Tristan had in common. Her father and Tristan were like complete opposites. But Gwen loved them both equally. Her father was more reserved and played by the rules. He was very political when it came to other people. Tristan was Tristan. Gwen was never the type of girl to fall for a guy like her dad. Unfortunately that was the type of guy he had her get engaged to. She was happy with the other guy; he was kind and treated her well. But he wasn’t Tristan. Nobody was ever like Tristan.
“Um…okay?” Gwen gave Rose a confused look after Alice’s response. Well that was odd. Gwen already knew Alice and her were probably not going to agree right away. She figured she would have to just tolerate her for Rose’s sake. But apparently they were going to be great friends! Interesting. She sucked in an unnecessary breath as she looked in between the two girls. Luckily Rose explained what was going on. “Cool trick,” Gwen muttered, trying to smile at Alice. At least she didn’t have the ability to burn someone just by a mere touch. The vampire let out a sarcastic laugh at Rose’s response to her question. But of course what was the point of meeting them at the mall if they weren’t going shopping. “Well…” Gwen waved to the mall as if you express her mental rant. Her hostility leaked a little into the one word. Even though she was trying really hard to reign that in, it wasn’t working. Gwen knew Rose could take her personality, she just wasn’t sure Alice could. Normally Gwen wouldn’t care but she had told herself to be tolerable for Rose’s sake. This was important to her new friend. And even though Gwen could be a bitch, she always prided herself on being a good and loyal friend.
“Since when are you a gear head? And here I thought we knew each other,” Gwen stated sarcastically, smirking at her taller friend. Rosalie never really struck Gwen as that type of vampire. Honestly when they first met Gwendolyn pretty much called Rose high maintenance and assumed she was a princess type of girl. Which was a little true, as she was just now finding out. But of course her new friend surprised her with her kinder side. Something they were both surprised each other had. “I like that plan, as long as the movie along the horror, action side. I’m not really in the mood for those new chick flicks that are out.” Gwen was going to see this as her interlude into a vague rant about Tristan. If Rose took the bait. The other vampire already knew the beginning of her story about her being left but now about the recent run in. Gwen glanced at Alice when she asked if she needed anything. She did want to get PJ something. But she could always do that later, most likely just go hunting with him and help take down a mountain lion or something. “Nope!” The less time she spent at this mall the better.

She knew that the other girl hated the vampire life just as much as Rose did. Alice was lucky, however, she didn’t remember a thing from her human life. Well Rose didn’t know if that was luck or a curse… Alice couldn’t understand Rose’s or Gwen’s hatred. Rose wasn’t even sure Alice would have loathed being a vampire over her human life, mostly because Rose didn’t know what Alice had gone through. Then again neither did Alice, so none of them would ever really know either way. Except maybe Carlisle. Rose had a sneaking suspicion that Carlisle had already looked into what had happened to Alice, but hadn’t told them yet. Rose smiled ruefully at Gwen’s comment though, while Alice let out a giggle, looking expectantly at Rose to see what she would say. “You’ll have to get used to taking that answer then,” |
Rose answered shrugging it off with a smirk. It was all Rose could do to chock back a laugh when Alice hugged Gwen. The look on the other girl’s face was absolutely priceless. She honestly kind of wished she had taken a picture. Alice just smiled though. She knew she had caught Gwen a little off guard. Of course what she had said didn’t make it any easier to understand what she had meant though. Rose’s explanation probably helped a little bit. Alice smiled back encouragingly when Gwen smiled at her. Knowing her power was a little much to handle usually kept Alice pretty subdued, but she liked to help people and Alice knew that she could be quite the little hand full most of the time. Though in time, she knew (well she saw anyway) that Gwen would come to get past her slight craziness. Alice loved making friend’s. Alice and Rose both laughed at Gwen’s response to being at the mall in the first place. “Rose knew you would say that,” Alice answered with a smile. “The place she goes to for all her car stuff is a little back road shop. It doesn’t get a lot of traffic, so it would be easiest to just meet up here.” Alice’s voice was still light and airy, a very big difference from Rose’s normally cold voice. Rose let out a light amused laughed. “I’ve always been a gear head! Emmett got me started actually,” she answered rolling her eyes before continuing, “It’s a nice change of pace from acting like I’m queen of the world!” She laughed again, though her words had been heavy with sarcasm. Truthfully, she loved acting like she owned the world, like no one could touch her. It was better for her to ignore her vulnerability then deal with it all the time. But at Gwen’s response to the movie, it was Alice’s turn to laugh. “Don’t worry about that. You won’t be at all disappointed in movie choice,” she answered shooting a look at Rosalie and shaking her head at her taller sister. Both girls smiled at each other when Gwen told them she had nothing to get and then grinned back at her. “Okay then! Let’s go!” Alice cheered happily, spinning around on her toes like a ballerina and dancing back toward the outer ring of the mall. Rose laughed after Alice and grabbed Gwen’s hand to pull her along. “You’ll have a blast, don’t worry,” Rose said to Gwen as she continued to pull her along. She looked at her new found friend (a word that she would certainly have to get used to) and smiled as she nodded her head to Alice as she danced in front of the two other girls, leading the way. “Sorry about Alice, by the way. She grows on you, but she is a little eccentric,” Rose said with small smile. Alice threw a smile over her shoulder at the two of them. “I heard that! And I am not eccentric!” she exclaimed at her sister jokingly. “Well not all of the time! Rose couldn’t help but laugh as they made their way to the door of the mall. The car shop wasn’t actually in the mall, but it was within walking distance down the street, so that’s where they were going to head off too. Gwen suppressed the urge to roll her eyes at her new friend. It was nice to have someone else that loathed being a vampire like Gwen did. It made things interesting, certainly. Plus that meant Rose was always the first person she went to about everything. Everything that happened in her life. And it was nice to have a girl’s perspective on everything. PJ was good at listening, with that empathy power and all. He knew exactly how she felt all the time. But that doesn’t mean he knew the right thing to say all the time. Usually he did, but sometimes it would have been nice to have someone be on her level. Yes he could feel what she was feeling but in the long run she really couldn’t understand it. After all she wanted nothing to do with the guy that left her, and he was running all over the world to find that woman that left him. That was one subject they would never see eye to eye on. Well that made sense; Gwen would probably get lost on her way to some random back road auto-shop. Hell Gwen would get lost trying to find a normal auto-shop. Just glancing at her you would get the idea that she wasn’t much of a gear head. And you would be right. She may look like a tough-ass, tom-boy type of person. But a gear head she was not. If her car ever broke down, PJ usually took care of it. He wasn’t much of a gear head himself, but he knew what to do more than she did. That was for sure. But apparently her new friend was. Oh yes, Emmett, her mate. That would explain everything. “Who would think you would ever want a break from your act of being queen B?” Gwen questioned sarcastically, throwing a small grin at the blonde. “Good, I’m really not in the mood to watch some girl complain about never finding love.” That’s what the majority of the romantic comedies were about in the beginning. It would show two people and how their life sucks without love in their life. Look at Gwen, okay maybe she was not the best example of what a person should be like without love. But she was getting there. It was just a matter of time.
Gwen just shook her head as Rose grabbed her hand and dragged her along. “Are there any hot guys I can have fun with there?” Gwen question jokingly. She wasn’t the type of vampire to play with humans. Rose should know that. But she was a female with heightened hormones. Hormones that need satisfying every once and awhile. And even though Gwen could have the possibility of getting them satisfied by two men at the moment, she would really like to take a break from that whole thing. Honestly the girl didn’t know how to take the whole thing. There was Blake, who made her feel and act in a way that she wouldn’t normally be. And she liked the girl she was when she was with him. Then there was Tristan who claims to be her mate, and for a long time Gwen believed this to be true. Her heart ached over what he did and she was still pissed at him. But knew if push came to shove both boys would be more than willing to help her out with her hormones. Which was ultimately the problem.
“So she has the ability to see into the future…?” Gwen asked, clarifying what just happened. And then added, “What’s your power Rose, being a self-proclaimed princess?” She grinned up at the blonde in a playful way. Gwen had realized within a few days of being a vampire that there were others out there like her. They had extra power outside of being a super being. Gwen never really publicized her powers to others. It wasn’t like she was trying to hide them for strength and power. She just didn’t like to talk about it because she didn’t have much control over it. She managed to get her pyro powers focused in her hands but had to wear gloves because the simple touch would light a thing on fire. And if she wasn’t careful with her emotions, then even the gloves wouldn’t be able to block her hands. The brunette laughed at the two sisters’ interaction. It was nice to just relax for once.

There was no way in hell Rose would have ever been pinned as a gear head. No way. Even Alice didn’t believe it still. And she had seen it in her mind, AND in person. And even so she still had a relatively hard time believing it. Anyone would looking at Rose. She was a princess, full scale, on a throne and all. And yet, in her room, sandwiched between the Teen Vogue and People Magazine where car and motorcycle magazines. It just went to show just how little people actually knew of her. Then again, being a Cullen, no one wanted to talk to her either. Course, Rose didn’t mind that so much either, actually enjoyed it more often than not. It put even more attention on her. In her mind, she catered to all the kinds of boys, and loved every second of attention she got from them. It was so worth it to get dirty every once in a while, and even more so at the surprised look on everyone’s faces when they realized she could probably do it all.
Laughing lightly at Gwen’s accusation, Rose shrugged. “It counts for something that I can look this good and know what I’m talking about when it comes to cars. All the boys swoon,” |
she answered jokingly and with a smile. Not to mention the extra attention it gave her. But, she’d keep that little secret to herself. Though, Gwen knew Rosalie pretty well, so she’d probably figure out that the attention was the motive behind the madness. But if you asked Rose, she wouldn’t be afraid to say that she really loved to wrench on a car, and get her hands a little dirty. At Gwen’s next statement, Alice responded with a laugh. “Rose is never in that kind of mood, no worries,” she said, still laughing lightly. As Rosalie grabbed Gwen’s hand and pulled her with, Alice danced up ahead of the two. She couldn’t wait to tell Gwen about what she had seen. But all the same she laughed along with Rose at her question. Even though it was a joke, Alice knew there was a few there that could be appealing to the eyes. “Oh yes!” Alice said, laughing lightly and Rose started laughing as well. “There is plenty of eye candy there, no worries!” Rose said and winked at Gwen. “And, you know it’s true because this is coming from two married women.” Without doubt it was true. If Alice and Rose were able to look at some of these guys, then there was definitely something to look at. Though Rose and Alice were never ever ever ever never going to leave Emmett and Jasper, there was not harm in them looking at a little bit of eye candy every now and again. And besides, it was a girl’s day. That’s what girls did on girl’s days. Scouted cute guys. It was perfectly normal! As Alice danced ahead of the two girls, Rose looked at Gwen and smiled. “Yeah, she does. It’s all dependant on a person’s decisions. And generally only people, she knows or has at least seen. And it doesn’t work with the mongrels either. But it definitely comes in handy with all the stuff going on,” Rose said, explaining it a little and wrinkling her nose when she mentioned the shifters. Rose then laughed at Gwen’s joke. “Actually it’s being the most damn gorgeous vampire on the face of the planet! Kiddin’! I’m not that special.” she answered and shrugged. On the plus side, the Volturi had no want or need for her. Much unlike Alice. As the three walked out and onto the street, they turned down toward the shop and Alice finally fell back into step with the other two girls. Smiling at Gwen, Alice asked, “So Rose told me you traveled a lot before you guys moved here. Where was your favorite place?! And what made you decide to move to Forks of all places?” She was genuinely curious. And she didn’t see stuff like that. It was already a made decision. So of course she wouldn’t and Alice wanted to get to know Gwen a little bit better. She was really trying to become friends with this new vampire. Especially since Rose was already very close to her. It was very strange for Rose to like anyone, especially another vampire. No wonder your head is so big,” Gwen stated jokingly. She was really glad to have met Rosalie in all honesty. The two have gotten close and Gwen knew that Rose also enjoyed being a gear head for the extra attention. The two had not hit it off right away but once they found a commonality in bitterness over the vampire life, they became best friends. They were the kind of best friends that could jokingly insult each other and still be friends in the end. Honestly if Gwen didn’t make some joke at your expense then that means she doesn’t like you. If she straight up insults you, then obviously she doesn’t like you. The brunette was really glad that the blonde could not only take her humor but throw it back at her. It was a strange and twisted friendship, but Gwen enjoyed it.
Honestly, PJ did not believe her when she said she made a best friend. Rose still hasn’t met PJ, so her brother still thinks she made the whole thing up. Which is clearly untrue, because Rose was standing right next to her. Though Gwen could understand how difficult it might seem for others to grasp the fact that she made a best friend. As a human Gwen was sarcastic but tolerable to other people. As soon as she turned into a vampire she got worse and her only friend was PJ. Until she moved to Forks. She was meeting all sorts of people and somehow making best friends left and right. The scary part was that Gwen had met Rosalie the first week she was in town. And before the two even established a friendship, Gwen had mentally declared that Forks was going to change everything and turn her world upside down. Boy was that true.
Gwen smiled at Alice’s comment. Well that would make sense, after all Rose has been through in her life. Though now she was happily in love with someone (that Gwen has yet to meet as well) so you never know. Rosalie was like Gwen in the aspect of not wanting to watch those girly things. But Gwen has been warned that love can change a person. Then again Rose has been in love with Emmett for some time, so if she hasn’t changed yet then she was never going to change. “If she was, I would be a little scared.” Rosalie was a princess…well acted like one. Technically she wasn’t a princess, just acted like one often. Probably the only thing that differed between the two of them. Well that and the fact that Rose liked attention. Gwen preferred the background and preferred not to be noticed by a lot of people.
Gwen watched Alice dance ahead of them. The brunette let out a laugh that this. Yes, when married women are looking at guys then you know there are some gorgeous guys. Especially Rosalie, she doesn’t look at just anyone as Gwen found out. “Well then, I’m excited for this trip,” Gwen stated and grinned at the two girls. It wasn’t like Gwen should be looking at guys, with all the male problems she’s been having lately. Honestly, the girl should just become a vampire nun. She still held a torch for Tristan, something that would probably never go away. But it has been established that they weren’t those forever mate things. Not to mention that Gwen was starting to have feelings for another vampire. Honestly Blake was like the newer version of Tristan. They acted the same in her eyes, except there was something about Blake that made Gwen have fun and just enjoy her life. It was such a strange thing.
Thinking about it that sounded like a pretty cool gift. “Oh, so does that mean she can get a…vision about me?” Gwen questioned warily. She didn’t really like the thought of Alice getting a vision about her future. Gwen was relatively sure what her future was going to be like. Well that was until she went to Forks. Now she’s not so sure. With everything going on with Tristan, Blake, Keisha, and PJ…it was really a miracle the girl hasn’t left Forks already. That being said Gwen didn’t know was in her future so she preferred someone else not knowing too. It would unfair and kind of awkward. Plus if she did know would Gwen want her to tell her? “Be grateful, sometimes our gifts aren’t that great.” Gwen had told Rose about her power and lack of control over it. Well she told her that she kept it contained in her hands but still had to wear gloves to protect the world from her hands. It was really bothersome. Gwen would love to be a vampire with no special gift to be perfectly honest.
Alice had rejoined them as they turned a corner, down a street that Gwen was sure she hasn’t been down before. Or she has and just didn’t remember. Traveled a lot was an understatement really, more like…well Gwen traveled more than any vampire her age should. “My favorite place?” Gwen echoed, she never really gave her living areas much thought really. She only really noticed that they were either small towns in the middle of nowhere or a huge city that you could get lost in. There was really no middle ground. “I would have to Madrid; it was huge and so full of life. Not to mention the Hispanics have fun traditions.” Gwen and PJ were lucky enough to live there for a short time during the Day of the Dead and that whole weekend. The festivals were amazing really. It was probably one of the few times that Gwen actually enjoyed being around humans, not to mention it was before the whole Keisha fiasco. Alice’s second question made Gwen freeze up. “Um…” Gwen prided herself on being honest, then again she prided herself on having no friends but look at her now. She didn’t want to be mean to Alice since she had promised Rose to be on her best behavior. “My adopted brother was…is following a lead on his mate. It’s a very complicated situation really.” Gwen tried not to make her voice seem light but was severely unsuccessful. The brunette made sure to keep out the part of his mate being a shifter and the whole drama that an ensued after the two met.
