callum lowe
NICKNAME(S): cal
GROUP: vampire
ABILITY: physical fatigue - cal can suck the energy right out of you. the extent of it can range from making you feel slightly faint to bringing you to your knees. the only con is that the more he uses it, the weaker he begins to feel himself.
AGE: frozen at nineteen / twenty-two
PLAYBY: gaspard ulliel
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
cal is sort of scrawny for his age, weighing about one hundred thirty-five pounds and standing at about five feet and ten inches. his dark brown hair usually falls just over his face, covering his often black eyes. he's got one single scar on his wrist where he was bitten by a vampire.
PERSONALITY:
Cal's an asshole. Okay, so he's not rude to everyone, but he's that guy who will have a smart remark in response to everything. You know that guy in your classes in school who is either hated or loved by every single teacher? That's Callum. Loved by the amusing teachers and hated by the strict authority figures, Cal's mouth was about 95% of the reason he got through high school. He doesn't really mouth off as much with his friends because he's got no one to impress with them. His quick witt was used more as a lifeline while he was in school and needed to hold a reputation.
With his friends, Cal's much easier to read. He'll agree to do anything with them no matter how stupid if it sounds like a good time. He's got a good sense of humor, but he can also be a tad spastic when it comes to getting into trouble. Though in good humor, he was probably one of the most annoyed any time the guys had to take a trip down to the police station for vandalism or something else completely childish and stupid. He'd be likely to make a joke about the situation to try to lighten the mood even though it was clear that he was the one who needed to calm down and take the situation more lightly. Known for making stupid decisions due to his poor sleeping habits, Cal is used to taking large amounts of teasing from his friends in good humor.
HISTORY:
Cal hated sleep. He was always tired and depriving himself of sleep no matter how tired he was. Sleeping was such a waste of time-- there was so much else he could have been doing. He and his friends used to hang out in the middle of the night doing stupid stuff that could get them into trouble (yea, he was that guy). He loved doing it-- he had fun and they didn't always get caught. He didn't see much of a problem with it. Growing up in a small town like Forks, however, made it pretty hard for him not to earn a bad reputation.
It was Saturday at four in the morning and Cal was walking down the street to meet some friends. They'd planned to go down to First Beach to have some harmless fun. It was probably the first time in weeks that they had actually planned to do something that couldn't get them arressted. Cal could have driven, but the walk to his friend's house wasn't a long one and it was easier to sneak away from his parents without the sound of his car's shitty engine going off. It really didn't seem like it'd be a problem at the time, but looking back on it, there were so many things he could and should have done differently.
The disappearances were big news. Forks was so small, and it seemed so unlikely that some sort of serial killer could get around without being noticed. Cal hadn't paid them much attention. He hadn't known any victims personally and that kind of thing didn't happen to Callum. The chances were miniscule. Then again, so were the chances of his parents hearing the car from the garage, but he still decided to leave the car behind. He was old enough to walk a few blocks and it was nothing he couldn't handle. He handled it just fine until he realized he wasn't walking by himself.
Everything happened so fast he couldn't rap his head around it. He saw the shadow zip by against the side of a building but it had been moving so quickly that he barely gave it a second thought. The next moment brought piercing pain to his wrist. He had never even seen the face of the vampire that had bitten him. Soon after his wrist had begun to feel as though it was on fire, he was thrown into a stone wall and left for dead. The nineteen year old woke up hours later with no memory of the attack. All he could focus on was his wrist. Horrified and confused, he ran to the nearby forest to be alone while his transformation continued. It took him a while to figure out what he was, but the burning in his throat was a pretty big clue.
Cal doesn't enjoy attacking people, but trying to survive on animals sounds just about as pleasant as ripping his own limbs off. This keeps his eyes from ever becoming a golden color. Only having been changed for a few years, he is still getting used to his strength, speed, and thirst, but none of those are anywhere near the difficulty he's had in mastering his unique ability. He sort of figured it out spontaneously, noticing that his victims started to lose strength before he attacked. After some practice, he learned how to control it... to some degree. He can make a grown man collapse out of nowhere with very little effort. The only downside is that he begins to feel these effects on himself if he uses the ability to a large degree or for an extended amount of time. Being a vampire and going without sleep, those rare feelings of weakness are all but pleasurable.
