Blake and Cal were racing.. Okay, I know what you’re thinking; again?! No. It was the first time. Yes, again. Duh. What else do they do with their lives? I mean, something about it needs to be fun because not only is it a big thing for them, I’m pretty sure every pair of characters we have on this site has raced at least once and yanno what’s really funny I always win ha. ”C’mon, at least try to keep up!” Blake teased, turning around and grinning at Cal, who was significantly behind him. Due to his friend’s unresolved tree issues, this wasn’t a very uncommon situation, however Cal was much farther behind than usual, and well, a certain vampire with mind-meddling powers might have had something to do with that. Yea yea, Blake cheated. But lets be real here, by this point the two of them were both dirty cheaters. I mean, there was only so many ‘normal’ races you could have before winning (or losing, depending on who we were talking about here) just got downright boring.. and then came changing the course without telling the other people and destroying of the forest for obstacle course purposes and yes- power abusing. It happened. Because it kept things interesting. Just like racing on the edge of wolf territory. Yeah, Blake and Callum went through all that trouble drawing a line and making a sign and officially claiming territory for themselves just so they could go mess with someone elses.. They were obviously very considerate, thoughtful people. Anyway, the thing about being on the “edge” of an area sort of implied that they knew where the area not to enter was but since certain people didn’t draw a line around their turf Blake had no idea that they’d been running (and being considerably destructive) on shifter ground for a while. Hell, it probably wasn’t the first time they’d done it either. But they’d never run into any problems (and as far as Blake was concerned them being vampires meant that they couldn’t run into any problems) so.. yeah.. guess who wasn’t giving a shit? Well, wasn’t giving a shit about that anyway. This competition, with Cal, that was some serious shit. I would just declare Blake the winner now, but there’s this thing called godmodding I’m not supposed to do so here’s the part where I humor Tilly and allow Cal the chance to get even.

Cal and Blake were racing. For some reason it never lost its entertainment factor and hopefully it never would because if it did they’d lose all purpose in life. C’mon, at least try to keep up! Okay, Cal was used to that. He was the vampire misfit who had never gotten the hang of the new speed despite the time he’d had to get used to it. It just didn’t fit him—he wasn’t going to stop being clumsy and so as long as there were obstacles he could run into he was probably going to be behind Blake. However, that didn’t mean he was no match for the guy. This time, Blake was considerably ahead and it took Cal a lot of time to figure out why. All seemed normal and Cal was just kind of figuring he was having an off day, but once he started noticing the constant confusion he kept experiencing he was able to jump to conclusions. Blake was throwing him off. He was randomly confused and anytime that happened he immediately accused Blake. Blake grinned and Cal smirked back. Two could play at that game. Now I’d just declare that Blake started feeling really tired all of a sudden but there’s this thing called godmodding I’m not supposed to do so here’s the part where I—forget it we all know under these circumstances Cal can actually catch up. He did, standing by his friend with his arms crossed. ”C’mon, at least try to play fair.” He put Blake back to normal and began to run again, unknowingly approaching Quileute territory.

Okay, so I was going to think of something for Seth to ramble about so you could have a paragraph of aimless dialogue to respond to but then I figured Paul was going to just going to be tuning him out anyway.. which is rude because Seth happened to be telling a very interesting story at the moment which involved Quill and Jarod but Seth didn’t really mind Paul not listening because he was the one who had the problem with the silence. Much like the predictableness going on on the vampire side of life, Seth and Paul were you guessed it, doing the same thing they did every patrol, which.. if you need a hint, didn’t involve running around the border in wolf form makign sure vampires stayed away. For some reason, Sam really liked sending the two of them out together (it probably had to do with getting rid of the two most annoying people who wouldn’t kill each other if left unsupervised). But because they’d ditched a few times without issues Seth was a lot more comfortable, even willing to joke around or get competitive with Paul. I wouldn’t go as far as to say the two of them were friends, but yanno, there was progress. Anyway, they were currently messing around on the cliffs. Paul had gotten ahead, already part way up the rocks again when Seth heard the two obnoxious people. Okay, so, Seth wasn’t actually aware he was hearing people because people wouldn’t have been so loud. He let go of the rock he’d been about to get up on and started walking towards the trees and the sound but then realized that might have not been his smartest idea. He had a weird feeling and didn’t know what was going on. ”Paul! “ he looked around frantically for the other shifter, hoping Paul hadn’t gone too far. ”Listen! Do you hear that?”

Paul! ”What?!” Seriously they had been doing the whole ditching thing for a while now. Seth needed to stop being such a paranoid kid. Paul didn’t even know what his problem was—he had seemed to be fine before. Paul was a good way up the rocks when Seth called him so it annoyed him to have to turn around. Though when he did, and Seth told him to listen, he did hear it. There was no mistaking what the sound was coming from—there weren’t many animals that could run that fast. He immediately tensed up, his fists clenching and his face growing hot. Paul got back to Seth as quickly as he could before grabbing the kid and pulling him back from the trees. ”Don’t move.” It was clear in his tone that the order was not up for debate. He didn’t want Seth walking out in the open toward vampires. He walked toward the trees and could hear that they were coming toward Paul and Seth. Within a few seconds, Paul could see them approaching. He stood his ground, starting to realize that the situation was going to suck. He didn’t want to get Sam dragged into this. That would only make everything ten times worse. ”Don’t phase.” He spoke slowly as if Seth’s first language was not English. Of course if the situation called for it Paul was going to phase, and he expected that Seth would as well. However he wasn’t going to give Seth the impression that it was okay—Seth would have to figure out in the heat of the moment when phasing was appropriate. Paul was the one who was going to have a problem staying in his human form. I mean, he was basically the Jasper of the pack as far as control went. And it wasn’t like he was going to be able to keep from getting angry. When he knew he could be heard, he called out. ”Get the hell out of here before I make you.”

Blake knew Cal would catch on eventually (he always did) but that didn’t mean he was going to make the most of his victory while he could. Rather than calling him out, Cal decided to fight fire with fire (or, yanno, memory erasing with fatigue.. because they were scary people) As a certain obnoxious person stated, all of a sudden Blake started feeling really tired and running was pretty much a lost cause while that was going on because he could barely move and his coordination was at like Cal level. That gave Cal his much needed catch up time, and his even more needed delayed comeback time. I mean, seriously, that wasn’t even original. He like quoted Blake and changed one word.. and it still took him that long to come up with! ”Dude, that’s not fair. My powers don’t make you feel like you got run over by a truck.” Of course, Blake was grinning while he said this, obviously amused as he usually was and willing to show it unlike a certain robot vampire. ”And I’m still gonna kick your ass.” he noted before starting to run again, although he didn’t get very far before catching the extremely unappealing scent of wolf-people. He stopped and grabbed Cal’s arm. ”Change of plans.. I still win.. This way..” You’d think, now that he knew they were on shifter territory, Blake would, yanno, be leading them back.. but that obviously wasn’t the case because this was Blake and he’d take any opportunity to mess with people he could get, especially seeing that the two of them had never actually met shifters before. Knowing Cal would follow him Blake let go and started running again, stopping when he could see the other pair, one of whom was already being very friendly and inviting. (The other one didn’t look as annoying.. but then again, like, compared to Paul the loch ness monster probably looked like a fun guy.) ”Get the hell out of here before I make you.” Blake scoffed.. though he was obvious that he was already pissed off at this guy and trying to restrain himself. (Apparently he's right there with Paul and Jasper in the no damn control group) ”Well someone forgot to take his happy pills this morning.” He addressed the comment to Cal although it was obvious that he wanted the asshole to hear him. Turning to Paul, Blake stood his ground and crossed his arms, making it pretty clear he didn't have any plans to leave. Not to mention sizing the guy up.. he wasn't all tat intimidating. ”Whatcha gonna do?”

Dude, that’s not fair. My powers don’t make you feel like you got run over by a truck. Callum smirked and rolled his eyes. ”Nah, just like waking up from a coma after getting hit by a truck.” Blake couldn’t make himself forget, so he didn’t get it. Cal had experienced it multiple times. Everyone got tired—Cal’s power wasn’t as supernatural. For the record, being a robot and being subdued were two different things. Not everyone could run around being obnoxiously emotional all the time. And I’m still gonna kick your ass. ”We’ll see, Cocky,” he responded with a smirk before continuing to run. He was doing well too… not running into shit and such… until Blake grabbed his arm and stopped him. Change of plans.. I still win.. This way. ”Bullshit you still—“ Then he stopped because he smelled and heard them. They’d never actually encountered shifters before so Cal was curious…though he didn’t want to start trouble. Not starting trouble however….being with Blake… wasn’t going to be easy. They got to the shifters and Cal got a good look at them, surprised that they weren’t phased. One was pissed off and the other looked pretty normal. Well someone forgot to take his happy pills this morning. Cal did a face palm and shot Blake a warning look after giving him a short wave of fatigue to get his attention. He wasn’t that worried about these specific shifters being able to do anything (I mean it was him and Blake—they knew how to handle themselves) but he didn’t think stirring up trouble with a local pack was very smart. Watcha gonna do? ”We don’t want him to do anything,” he muttered to Blake. Sometimes the guy needed a filter.

”What?!” Okay, yanno, we wont even get into how incredibly RUDE someone is… Paul obviously realized within a few moments that Seth hadn’t called him over for nothing, although Seth would live without his apology (for now) seeing as there was something going on which Paul apparently found reason to be concerned with. Seth was slightly concerned too… well, he’d been slightly concerned before Paul pulled him back.. Not he was really concerned. ”What is it? What’s going on?” Paul did this thing where he expected Seth do do everything he said but ignored everything Seth asked and it wasn’t like Seth was complaining or anything but serious… he appreciated the explanation every once in a while. ”Don’t move.” ”Don’t move. Okay… Paul?” Aaand he was gone. Seth bit his lip and took a few steps closer to the trees, not enough so that he was near Paul, but enough he could see the older guy. Yanno, in case Paul needed help or something. When it became clear that Paul wasn’t coming back Seth caught up with him, just in time to get told not to do something else. ”Don’t phase. Got it.” he nodded his head as it too give the extra proof.. like Paul didn’t believe him. Still being relatively new to the whole shifter thing, Seth didn’t have the best control, but he also rarely got angry.. so that put him in a better position than Paul. He followed Paul’s attention to the forest when it was clear that the vampires (yes, now it was clear that they were vampires) were approaching them. ”Get the hell out of here before I make you.” Paul hadn’t told him explicitly not to talk, but Seth bit his tongue on a comment about how that was most definitely not the way to get people to do what you wanted. As we’ve learned in other thread where rude people try to force cooperation and things just don’t end well for them. One of the vampires insulted Paul and Seth cringed, shaking his head instinctively as if to warn the guy that that reeaaaally wasn’t a good idea (even if he was completely right and in any other circumstance Seth would have been amused by the comment). The other one said something he couldn’t completely catch and Seth turned his attention to the quiet one curiously… Well he hadn’t given off a bad impression.

Though Paul had explicitly ignored Seth before disappearing to go check it out, Seth was being surprisingly cooperative and he didn’t ask a million questions before just doing what he was told. Evidently the kid had the ability to tell when Paul wasn’t having it. He’d have to remember that—Seth clearly was able to listen when told to be quiet so he really had no excuse whenever Paul was sick of listening to bullshit happy stuff no matter what the situation was. Don’t phase. Got it. ”You better.” Because if he didn’t get it and the vampires didn’t kill him, Paul would do it. They got close enough to the vampires for Seth to see what was going on as well and Paul remained close to Seth, staying relatively in front of him feeling the need to make sure nothing touched him. He could tell by the eye color of the two that they had not been vampires for very long…which was great because that meant they were probably stupid and impulsive (because Paul wasn’t impulsive at all nope). It didn’t take long for that to be proven for at least one of the two. Well someone forgot to take his happy pills. If Paul’s fists were balled any more tightly his fingers would have gone through his hand. ”Hey, asshole, I’m right here.” If the guy was going to talk shit he could be a goddamn civilized person and address it to where it was due. Paul couldn’t stand cocky. Nobody got along with the same type of extreme personality. It was too much of a clash. Whatcha gonna do? He walked closer to the guy, seeing that he wasn’t planning on leaving on his own. The guy was a lot taller, but that didn’t matter much. Paul was standing his ground. ”I’m gonna kick your ass.” He didn’t know how but he was going to do it.

”Nah, just like waking up from a coma after getting hit by a truck.” Blake smirked before clapping a few times obnoxiously. Being Mister Too Cool To Care or whatever he thought it was, Cal wasn’t usually one to come up with good comebacks. So when he did, Blake gave him good credit. That didn’t, however, earn him a pass on the ever-cocky reply. ”Good thing I’m always the first face you see then, huh?” I mean- it was always good to wake up from a coma in front of an attractive person. Duh. Blake knew what he was talking about here. Yeah. Anyway. There was some more running and then there was some more obnoxiousness and then they ended up face to face with an unreasonably angry guy and.. some other kid. Blake knew Cal didn’t appreciate his introduction (yeah, it was pretty obvious even without the face palming and death glare that got shot his way). He looked back at him with a big grin and an ‘oops’ symbolizing shrug before directing his attention at the angry dude. ”Hey, Asshole, I’m right here.” ”You’re right. I’m sorry. Hi.” He flashed the guy a big fake grin and waved and everything. ”Do you always look like a tomato ready to punch a tree?” Yeah, so it was pretty clear there two weren’t going to be getting along for reasons far more rational than the whole shifter vampire natural enemies thing. The guy went and got closer to Blake, probably in some attempt to look intimidating. It didn’t work, but it did make Blake tempted to punch him in the face. He was getting pretty close to it too before Cal opened his mouth. ”We don’t want him to do anything.” ”You don’t.” he muttered, low enough so they wouldn’t hear. ”I’m gonna kick your ass.” THAT, Blake laughed at. He raised an eyebrow, looking down at the guy. ”I’d like to see you try.”

Cal obviously deserved the credit for his amazing comeback however he deserved that credit far more often than he got it despite the lies coming from the previous obnoxious narrator. He shoved Blake in the shoulder as he clapped, still smirking. Good thing I’m always the first face you see then, huh? He shrugged. ”I could think of better. Or two… or fifty faces I’d rather see. But yea, guess it could be worse.” Yanno, Callum was actually in a really good mood that day so of course shifters had to go and ruin it. Blake, of course, contributed to his bad mood that he was about to be in but he didn’t blame Blake (don’t tell Blake that)—he blamed the shifters. They were the ones to be stupid and challenge Blake. You don’t just challenge Blake. Well one of them was and the other…wasn’t doing shit. Anyway I’m going to actually go to the part of the post with the shifters so I can justifyingly complain about shifters. Blake spoke up the opposite way Cal would have found ideal but whatever no one ever asked Cal. Blake just gave him the all-too-familiar goofy grin before continuing to do what he knew Cal didn’t want him to. He’d give Blake shit about it later but right now Blake was the best chance the others were going to know not to try anything. Do you always look like a tomato ready to punch a tree? Correction: Blake was the best chance they were going to get attacked by a shifter pack. Thank you very much. You don’t. Alright, obnoxiousness but not responding. I’m gonna kick your ass. Yea, that look Seth had about ‘you really don’t want to do that’? Cal had the same one except his was more of a ‘wow you’re an idiot’. I’d like to see you try. Despite the fact that Cal knew Blake could kick this guy’s ass, Cal didn’t want a fight to break out. There was a reason they’d heard about shifters and they were clearly some sort of potential threat. Like, seriously, let’s be smart about this. ”Blake…” he warned as tension rose before looking over at the shifter. ”You try and you’ll be on the ground.”

Seth’s quietness really didn’t have a lot to do with his desire to make Paul happy. Shocking, I know. ”You better.” ”I wont!” Seriously, Paul needed to have more confidence in him. Seth would have vocalized that thought (especially considering the way Paul was standing in front of him) were it not for the vampires approaching when they had, and the horrible chain of events which followed. Okay so it was really obvious really quickly that this was not a situation Seth wanted to be in. I mean- there was a lot of tension going around and people threatening each other and insulting each other and that just was not something Seth wanted to involve himself in. But he couldn’t walk away because Paul was still there and Seth wanted to make sure the guy didn’t become a murderer and more importantly he came out in one piece. (Im not saying Seth didn’t have faith in Paul winning a fight, but, well…. there were two of them. Yeah. That was it.) Seth really didn’t blame the vampires.. he knew Paul had started it.. but he considered Paul a friend and so that meant if push came to shove he was going to take the guys side. He reeeeaaally didn’t want things to come to that though. Like, if I hadn’t made that clear already. The longer they could all go without killing each other the better. Although after a few minutes it seemed any chance of things blowing over these guys being on their way was gone. ”You try and you’ll be on the ground.” That was it. After the quiet guy got involved Seth’s mouth was moving before he even realized what he was doing. ”Nobody’s trying anything! Right? Right…” he trailed off, muttering the last part almost to himself and glancing up at Paul warily. ”Lets just.. start over. Without threatening anyone.” He managed to sound pretty resolute about the whole thing, but he actually had no idea what he was doing and there was consiquently a lot of flipping out going on in his head.
