”LIFE IS A HIIIIGHWAY, AND I WANNA RIIIIDE IT ALL NIGHT LOOONG.” All the best threads start with Jacki singing. Don’t even try to argue. Anyway, Jacki was singing along with the radio (well, a CD she and Willow made actually, because the radio played shit), which she had been for the last few hours, except you know when she and Willow were excitedly planning out what they were going to do when they got to the park.. and when she had to tell her brother to calm down and enjoy himself because sometimes he forgot to do that like every time Willow turned a corner or passed a car or.. well, okay, Tala actually forgot how to enjoy himself after he got abducted by aliens who mistook him for a cat as a child and he’d never been the same since. But they were hoping this trip would help bring out his inner child. The three of them were on their way to Disney World in Florida because Willow and Jacki had had this brilliant idea to actually go somewhere fun for once (there was only so much you could do in Washington) and they needed a legal adult to pay for the hotel and boring things like that.. and thus why Tala was coming along. Well, that and they wanted him to.. and Jacki basically owned his soul and he couldn’t say no. (She told him if he came with them he wouldn’t have to go to the mall or movies with her for a month which was a deal he’d been trying to get out of ever since she hid his homework around the house.) It was summer, so it wasn’t like Tala had anything more interesting to do or any way to get out of it. I mean, even their parents thought Tala needed to get out of the house more. And Jacki was convinced by the end he would admit he had fun. Or try to kill himself. Either one. Yanno. She and Willow would make sure of it. Willow was driving- obviously. Jacki didn’t have her license long enough to drive out of state yet and if Tala was driving it would have taken twice as long for them to get there (if they even got there at all). ”Tala, we should move to Florida!” She pointed out the window excitedly, which again, was something that had happened on a pretty regular basis during this road trip. Jacki enjoyed seeing the world. ”I mean look at the trees! And they have a SUN. And next time we want to go to Disneyland we wouldn’t have to drive for two days! Willow could live with us! It would be fun! ” Yeup, she was serious about this. Florida would have been a much awesomer place to live for many reasons and she expected her brother and friend to be on board with the plan because it was perfect and obviously very well thought out.

Tala was kidnapped. It didn’t matter how good Jacki’s deal was—he was there against his will and absolutely not having fun. I mean, how could he? They were in a moving vehicle under Willow’s control, there was music blasting, they were going above the speed limit, and they were going to be stuck in a car for a while. He was trying, very hard, to relax, but putting Tala in that kind of setting on a road trip was like locking a claustrophobic person in a small box. They were lucky Tala hadn’t literally exploded yet. It was coming. You just wait. In an attempt to distract himself from the obnoxiousness going on with Jacki being excited Tala resigned himself to being a very involved backseat driver (which was really a lot worse than just sitting there minding his own business but he couldn’t think of much else to do and they were moving too quickly on a highway for him to open a door, tuck, and roll). ”Wait! No, go that way! Slow dow—Willow, did you read any of those traffic signs? You driving this quickly will only slow us down in the long-run because it’s going to get us pulled over.” Jacki ended up starting ridiculous conversation with Tala but it at least got him to stop paying attention to the road. Tala, we should move to Florida! She went on about how they needed to move and she actually seemed to believe that was going to work. ”Yea, Jacki, we’ll move across the country because you like the trees.” That was only the beginning of why her plan was illogical. ”I’m fairly certain I won’t be coming back to Disney and so the location of our house in respect to any amusement park is completely irrelevant. Besides, you and Willow living together for longer than two days is frightening to think about.” Those two could get into a lot of trouble in two days. Two days was a long time. If they lived together, there would be chaos and that was excluding the part that Tala would not survive living with the two of them for two hours.

It was a good thing these two had been best friends for a year or more, they basically had the same taste in everything. Including music. Well everything except clothes. Willow stuck with yoga pants and a few cute things. While Jacki had more of a hipster look. Basically if someone looked in their car they would see an athlete with a hipster. Semi-strange pair, that seem to have nothing in common. However that was not the case. Hence why both of them came up with the brilliant plan to ride to Florida and go to Disney World. The only bad part of the whole thing was that they needed an adult figure to rent out the hotel room and all that boring stuff. Which was why they brought Tala. Well that and Jacki came up with the idea that maybe Disney world would bring out the inner child in Tala and he would be normal. Something Willow never believed he was to begin with. But apparently he was, according to her best friend…who she trusted with her life. Willow and Jacki were in the middle of going over what to do in the park when they were rudely interrupted by Tala trying to be a backseat driver yet again. “So little faith you have in me. And come on, Texas and Washington state governments deemed me worthy of having a license. So if they find me capable then you should too.” Willow made a quick right to the direction Tala pointed at. Last minute turn just to irritate her pseudo-brother even further.
“Jacki I think it is perfectly logical.” Of course Willow was encouraging such thought because it was an awesome thought. Granted her two brothers would have to join them because she couldn’t leave without them. But anything to move from Washington would be nice. That state was so dreary and grey. “Well you won’t have to be thinking about it for too long, you’ll be living it! A hotel room has already been reserved under your name for a whole week!” Okay so yea Willow may have gone through with those plans without either sibling knowing about it. But she figured Jacki would be okay with it and it was easier to do such work on her own. Plus Willow had a very believable voice and undeniable talent to convince people to do things for her. Such as reserve a hotel room under a name for a man that wasn’t even related to her. Of course she did it under the pretense that Willow wanted to surprise her boyfriend Tala with the trip, but since she wasn’t old enough to reserve the room. She politely asked them to make it under his without contacting him. And luckily the woman on the other line was very understanding, it was super lucky that the lady had recently married. Of course Willow would have to explain about Jacki, but she could always tell her best friend to sneak in the back way. Thinking about it now, Willow quickly took out her phone and began texting the whole explanation to Jacki. Yes she was still driving. By the end of her text she had typed for the fifth time that she was not interested in Tala that way and was only using him to her advantage. Willow quickly put her phone away before Tala caught her texting and driving.

Tala really needed to stop it with the backseat driving. As Tilly once said in a thread- nobody likes a backseat driver. Of course, in that particular sitatuoin it didn’t apply at all but in this one.. yeah. It’s not like Jacki or Willow took anything Tala said to heart, so all the guy was doing was getting himself all worked up. ”Tala we’re not getting pulled over! If someone was going to pull us over they would have done it yesterday!” I mean, obviously, if these signs and speed limits and things were so important, someone would have already came to yell at them – or better yet (okay, but better yet, but much more point supportingly) they would have gotten into an accident. Had they gotten into an accident, maybe Jacki would have admitted that the rules were there for a reason. (She probably would have just found a way to blame Tala, the other cars or a tree, but she MIGHT have admitted it) But since the only thing that had happened was that they’d gotten to Florida two days before they would have if Tala was driving, Jacki thought they’d definitely been doing something right. ”Besides, the government thinks Willow can drive. Two governments. What kind of government authority do you have? Exactly.” Tala was not a member of the FBI, CIA, hell he didn’t even work a boring desk job for someone who used to be affiliated with the government. He had about as much authority to have an opinion on this one as he did to tell them which of two parties would be more fun. Exactly. See how little Tala knows?
As was to be completely expected, Tala immediately shot down Jacki’s idea to more to Floridia, and Willow was all for it. ”Yes Tala, some people actually go outside and so the trees are kind of important!” Jacki and Willow were those kinds of people. The ones who ran around outside and climbed trees and things. Tala HAD been one of those people, and were his creativity still in tact he might have understood what kind of opportunities this could lead to but no. Apparently Disney had not yet worked its magic and Tala was still his old boring self. Tala made some other points about not wanting to go and Jacki and Willow living together – blah blah blah that’s all Jacki was getting. Willow immediately chimed in how Tala didn’t need to think about living with them because he was going to be doing it and Jacki laughed. Lets face it- even without knowing how Willow worked this whole thing out, she still knew it was completely ingenious. Jacki got her explanation though in the form of a text message very shortly after and literally, like, she was dying. I mean, insinuating Tala relationships with Devon and Rachel were one thing- but Willow! Of course she was going to end up laughing her ass off. Obviously, Jacki didn’t need her friend to tell her (five times) that she wasn’t actually into Tala, but watching them pretend- especially when Tala had to play along- that was probably going to be her favorite part of the entire trip. ”You know I’m recording this.” She whispered.

If Tala had to listen to the obnoxious scream-singing one more minute he was going to explode and Jacki and Willow were going to have to scrape Tala off the windows from the inside of the car. And if you asked him, there were a lot of things wrong with those state governments so the license didn’t mean anything to him. ”All governments are run by power-hungry lunatics and therefore are not intelligent enough to deem anyone worthy of a driving license.” He looked at his sister unamused as he added, ”Nor are the officials reliable enough to have the attention span to catch every speeding car on the road however that does not take away the importance of not risking getting pulled over so I suggest you slow down at least twenty miles per hour.” Tala rolled his eyes at the tree comments. If Jacki believed they were going to move for the trees she could be happy with that but it wasn’t going to happen. Not with Tala, anyway. If she wanted to risk being killed in a car crash every day for the rest of her life by roadtripping with Willow to go live with her in Florida for the trees then whatever. And just when Tala thought it couldn’t get any worse… A hotel room has already been reserved under your name for a whole week! He sighed in exasperation before looking at her in disbelief. ”Willow, do you realize that it’s common courtesy when making a reservation in someone’s name to let that person know about it beforehand?” He didn’t know how he was going to survive staying in a room with those two. He really didn’t. He only had so much patience. Willow was lucky Tala was preoccupied with making sure she wasn’t randomly switching lanes out his window because had he seen her texting he would have flipped a shit.
