Since their pack was killed and Matt was inadvertently made the alpha, it wasn’t really a big deal to show up at his place unannounced. Okay maybe it was for April because…well…it was April. She just needed to be the center of attention and needed the announcement. Emma however preferred to just appear and do things at random. Much like her brain was constructed. So that’s why she was headed to Matt’s house at the moment. Surely he would be home he didn’t really have any other friends outside of April and Emma. And he didn’t like doing the whole patrol thing without at least one of them with him. And Emma knew April was at the mall getting her hair dyed. So that meant that Matt was home and clearly not doing anything important. And if he was, that was cool she would just chill on his couch until he got home. Maybe attempt to write music or look up more how-to-play-instruments videos on YouTube. That was always fun. The girl skipped up to the mail box and quickly glanced in it. There was a lot of mail in there. Did the boy not check his mail box? He probably didn’t even know who his mailman was. Emma knew who hers was. She had met him, his name was Bob. He had three kids, a wife, and just bought a puppy. Yes, Em likes talking to strangers and making friends. You know when she went up to them and expected them to be there. However if they caught her by surprise then that was a completely different story.
Em quickly grabbed his mail and skipped up to the door. She grabbed the hidden key from under the dead plant and began to unlock the door. Pausing slightly, she caught a scent that wasn’t very familiar. Was Matt trying a new shampoo or something? Shrugging, she tossed the key back and thumbed through the mail. Using her back, she shoved open the door. Keeping her head down, she began shuffling through his mail in her hands. “Matt!” Emma called out. “Did you get a new shampoo or something? It smells really good. More manly like…I like it!” Still keeping her head, she paused at a magazine that seemed a little out of place. That was strange; Matt didn’t seem like a magazine kind of person. Maybe it was April’s attempt to get out of paying for something. Wouldn’t be the first time. “Since when do you subscribe to people magazi----” It was in that moment that Emma glanced up and noticed a man lounging on Matt’s couch. And this man was not Matt…but he was definitely the owner of the manly smell. Which explains a lot actually. He surely looked manly. More manly than Matt, but shush, don’t tell Matt that. Emma froze, not really sure what to do. Yea she was a shifter but still a tiny girl…and well this guy was shifter (the scent) and bigger than her. So she was slightly scared and caught off guard.
The girl dropped the mail and quickly glanced around. She grabbed the first randomly convenient placed weapon…an umbrella. And directly pointed it at the man. “Who are you? Where’s Matt? Did you abduct him? Are you some strange pedophile? If so let me tell you, I’m not every appealing and neither is Matt really. I mean he does have a certain charm about him but that’s not something you should exploit. You should let him go and I won’t call the police.” Okay first off if he kidnapped Matt and was a pedophile he would still not be in the house. And he certainly wouldn’t be lounging on Matt’s couch. Then again, you never know with shifters nowadays. They were strange creatures. Emma stiffly sniffed the air and noticed that Matt was nowhere to be found. So he was gone, it was just a matter of if this man was responsible or not. She cautiously walked over to the guy and poked his leg softly. Okay it was an umbrella and Emma, she wasn’t much of a threat. But she tried to act like one, and was probably failing miserably. Oh and if this guy could probably figure out, she also had no filter so it wasn’t like she could do a surprise attack on him or something.

Well, one month, three states, and a creepy mind-reading experience later.. Nash was actually starting to understand what the hell had happened to him. That was cool. Shape shifters… I mean, the whole thing was absolutely crazy. But then again, he certainly couldn’t argue it. Despite the awkward circumstances of their meeting, Nash and Matt had actually gotten on pretty well, and Matt had convinced him not to walk away from the whole pack idea. He didn’t know what he thought of it just yet, but at this point he didn’t have a whole lot to lose. He certainly didn’t have anywhere else to go. So that was how he’d ended up in Matt’s living room. Matt had told him to come over and for whatever reason he wasn’t there now and so Nash was just chilling out on the couch (his car didn’t exactly have one so it was kind of nice). When the door opened he figured it was probably Matt but he was still slightly on guard. He hadn’t known Matt long enough to be able to tell his scent or footsteps but something was definitely off. This was confirmed when the person spoke. Well.. unless Matt had suddenly turned into a female.. Obviously, whoever the person was knew Matt which meant she was probably welcome there. One of the girls, Nash realized almost immediately. Matt had told him about the girls who “didn’t” live at his house. He was supposed to meet them later, when Matt got back. Well, he guessed now was as good a time as any.
The girl walked into the room and none too surprisingly registered him as a threat. Well, at least that was the vibe Nash was getting from the umbrella she had pointing at him. She started ranting and this was pretty much a worst case scenario (which luckily was something Nash was getting used to and accustomed to dealing with). Resisting the urge to get defensive, Nash set the magazine down and held his hands up slowly, trying to show her that he wasn’t a threat. In the same manner he got up and stood to face her. He knew Matt had mentioned the girls’ names. He tried to remember. ”You must be… April?” he asked. Realizing that she still wasn’t going to have any idea why he was there (and the fact he knew who she was probably didn’t look very good as far as him not being a stalker good going there) he went he tried to answer her questions. ”I’m not a pedophile.. And I don’t have Matt. He went out. You just missed him. He said I could wait here.” He paused, trying to gauge if she believed him or was still planning on calling the cops. He was obviously telling the truth, but he really wouldn’t blame her in either case. Might as well just come out with the whole thing and see what she thought of it. ”My name’s Nash. I met Matt yesterday. Apparently I’m part of your.. pack.” Yeah, that still felt very weird to say. And Nash was pretty sure would remain weird for a long time.

She wasn’t. He was a stranger in Matt’s home. Reasonably she would register him as a threat. And then he did the worst possible thing he could do to her. He called her April. A person just doesn’t do that. That is the only thing that grinds Emma’s gears. And that’s a hard thing to achieve at this point. The girl is laid-back, kind, and spastic, not angry or mean. For the first time Em was truly speechless and had no idea what to say at this point. “April? April!?” Emma looked at him disbelief. It did not register that the fact that she did not know meant he did not know her and most likely did not know April. None of that was really occurring to her. Emma took a step forward and proceeded to hit the stranger on the head with the umbrella. It wasn’t like it was hard hit, but he would certainly feel it. Of course the thing that was registering with her was the fact that Matt would probably describe April as a witch with a B, and this guy that she was that. “How dare you insinuate that I’m a female dog!” Emma was severely offended. Emma didn’t have a normal relationship with her sister. The only bond they had was that they shared the same DNA. That was it. Emma was not fond of April and vice versa. The two of them couldn’t stand each other, though Emma was clearly nicer than April about it. And April would sell Emma for anything before Emma even thought about it. Okay so Emma’s relationship with her sister was more than abnormal.
“So I’m just supposed to believe you? You could be James Bond’s co-worker that has a license to kill. Or Mister Roger’s prodigy, the man was rumored to be an extreme pedophile. It’s not like I have a truth serum to give you that could help me trust you or anything like that. Plus why would Matt leave a stranger in his home? That’s just not smart at all. I mean you could take his TV, or laptop, or burn his house down. Really Matt did not make a very intelligent decision.” That was Emma for you. One moment she was verbally attacking Nash and the next she was insulting Matt. Because those were all her thoughts and something like that just doesn’t stay in her head. She must speak all of it! All of the thoughts at once! It was kind of bad for Nash in this situation more than her. He was the one in danger of going insane by talking to her. Really when it came with Emma either you liked her or didn’t. And it was usually because of her lack of filter. “Nash? That’s actually a name?” Emma question was not malicious or mean, she was genuinely curious. “Our pack? Well I guess that’s what it is technically called…. Did you do that weird mind thing with him? I have before, it’s not as fun as it seems. Especially when he’s being crazy paranoid and freaking out over every little thing. But that’s Matt. He’s…he’s a good guy. He’s a great guy, a great alpha. If his great paranoid self trusts you, than I can too. The real April on the other hand might be a different story, I wouldn’t try with her.” Emma smiled softly at Nash. She couldn’t believe she was just saying these things. Okay she could because she was Emma. And despite the whole pedophile and umbrella thing, he seemed to be an okay guy. Again if Matt could trust him than so could Emma. Obviously he did something right for Matt to leave him alone in the house.

"April? April?!" Not April then. Definitely not April. Nash tried to remember the other name Matt had used but before he had the chance to the girl was swinging the umbrella at his head. Acting on instincts before he even had a chance to think about what he was doing Nash stepped back and grabbed it, pulling it out of her grip. "How dare you insinuate that I'm a female dog!" "I- what? I never said you were… oh you mean a.. no! Of course not!" Okay.. so this meeting couldn't have gone any worse. He glanced at the umbrella in his hand and awkwardly set it down on a table, realizing that she might still view him as a threat. "Emma, sorry, you're Emma?" He nodded a little, waiting for her confirmation. Luckily talking didn't seem to be something that was hard for her. Que another long rant about James Bond, Mister Rogers, and why Nash was likely either a pedophile, thief, or killer. The last one hadn't been far from the truth, but that didn't seem like a good thing to bring up."I know you don't have a good reason to believe me." I mean, despite her eccentricities she was right. He was a stranger in her friend's house. It was weird. Obviously Nash knew he didn't have any bad intentions, but there was nothing he could give Emma other than his word. Truthfully, Matt didn't even have a good reason to trust him alone, although he supposed that the whole mind reading thing might have helped. Either that or the guy was extremely trusting.. which Nash didn't think was the case considering how obviously paranoid he was. "If you want I can leave and come back later." It seemed like the best option for everyone. He'd have offered for them to go somewhere else, yanno anywhere not in the house of someone who wasn't home, but he didn't know anything about the area and he didn't have money so there were a lot of reasons that probably wouldn't work. "Nash? That's actually a name?" "A nickname, actually.. but I guess you could say it stuck." That was a question Nash actually knew how to answer. It certainly wasn't the first time he'd gotten it. Emma went on another rant and Nash nodded. "That's what Matt called it. And yeah, we did.. That's how we met actually. He could have considering it his weirdest meeting ever had today not happened. "I don't know him as well as you, but he seems like a good guy." He'd certainly done a lot for Nash that he didn't have to. And apparently she was willing to give him the same chance. "Thanks." The real April.. well, dumb luck seemed to be on his side so far. He'd cross that bridge when he got to it.

Now how was she supposed to protect herself? Though to be fair he was doing it in self-defense since she ridiculously hit him for calling her April. It wasn’t his fault, he didn’t know better. Well now he did. And technically she was a female wolf on occasion, you know when she shifted. But that wasn’t the context of which she was using that. And Nash seemed to catch on to that. Good, Emma didn’t really to have to explain it. She didn’t swear; okay she did when she was EXTREMELY pissed off. But otherwise she chose not to, she thought it made her sound ridiculous. And considering her and her character, it kind of did. “Good, because that certainly wouldn’t help you.” Emma wasn’t a scary person or say scary things. So when something like that is said don’t imagine other angry characters, imagine a person just simply pointing something out while failing at being scary. Yea that was Emma, and just remember also that Nash will love her like a sister eventually. And finally he got her name right. Good, good. “Yes, I’m the other one. The nicer one.” Okay so calling him a pedophile, hitting him on the head with an umbrella, and yelling at him certainly did not help that statement. But if she did all that and she was, in fact, the nicer one, what was April like? Oh God. Sorry, April-bashing done. For now. And just like that Em was calm down, still a little insulted but calm for the most part. “Sorry about hitting you on the end…with an umbrella,” She stated genuinely trying to apologize. Even though it still hasn’t been established if he was a registered pedophile or killer. So yes, he was right she had no good reason to believe him other than the fact that Matt left him alone in the house. And Matt being alive or not has still yet to be confirmed. Just saying.
“I’m glad you understand where I’m coming from. Can I have the umbrella back please?” Yes she was still stuck on her umbrella being taken away. It was her weapon and thing to protect herself. Her really strange security blanket. Eventually this role is going to shift to Nash, just saying. But for now it was the umbrella. She just wanted to know she was safe…with the umbrella. And then the guilt of her crazy actions and statements sank in when he spoke up again. Matt would not be happy with her if she kicked out his guest without him being home. And clearly Nash had nowhere else to go if he was sticking around a teenage boy this long. “No!” she exclaimed. “I mean, no. Matt wouldn’t be happy if you left or happy that I was the reason for you to leave. Though, no offense, I am just a small girl, really you could take me if it came down to it. In this form and the other. I really hope you won’t resort to that though. No, stay. Sit back down, I’m fine now. I swear. Well I’m not fine; I still want the umbrella back.” She reached her hand out hesitantly and quickly grabbed it back from the table. Emma looked at the umbrella and laid it down next to her. If Nash was willing to show that he wasn’t a threat then she should let up on him. After all, stated before, if Matt could trust him then so should she. “I’m sorry, this whole thing can’t be easier for you. I just…you…I really don’t like being called April. Sorry, really I am.” Emma was trying to be better. But it was weird. He was a stranger in her best friend’s house. Yes at this point she consider Matt her best friend, probably a one-sided thing too. But whatever. He was in her best friend’s house and a stranger, she got scared and worried. And then he called her April which pretty much unleashed the crazy. So yes she was trying to go back to normal, nice kind of crazy Emma. That’s when she knew the best thing to do to make up for him. “You got to be hungry. Matt’s always hungry so I assume it’s a guy thing. Maybe it’s just a Matt thing…In either case I shall see what he has to eat and hopefully make us something. If not there’s always the diner. I could get us something.” One could tell she was still nervous and hesitant about the whole situation. She still hasn’t’ reached chipper Emma yet, the girl isn’t bipolar. She just has no filter.
The girl walked into the kitchen and began to look through the place. The girl honestly expected for nothing to be in there but surprisingly Matt was good about keeping his kitchen stocked. It was probably because he was so hungry all the time. “A nickname for what?” she asked curiously open the cabinets and refrigerator, finding ingredients for chicken alfredo, she settled on that. “I hope you like chicken alfredo. Seems like that is the only thing outside of cookies and junk food to eat around here.” The girl once again went in search for a pan to put the noodles in. “Well that’s certainly a strange way to meet. Probably your strangest right? Ah ha!” She found a pan, put water in it and proceeding to put it on the stove before go to find the noodles once more. Emma didn’t really know if he considered this an odd meeting. Emma certainly did. It wasn’t everyday she did something like she did earlier. Then again it wasn’t really out of character either. She smiled at him after he called Matt a good guy and thanked her. Emma quickly turned her attention to the water, making sure it would boil nicely before she put the noodles in it. “How much would you like?” Clearly he was getting food, no point in arguing about that. All he needed to do was tell her how much to make and she would do it.

"Good, because that certainly wouldn't help you." Nash nodded. "Can't imagine it would." As had been said, Emma wasn't exactly the most intimidating person, but Nash understood that she was trying to threaten him and so he decided to just play along. "I'm the other one. The nicer one." "So.. your sister must be a serial killer then, right?" Yeah, he decided to press his luck and make a joke out of it. Hopefully that would go over well. She was kind of… strange and he really didn't know how she'd take it. Though it certainly seemed like she didn't like April, and Matt had mentioned that she was scary.. Maybe the killer thing wasn't so far from the truth. It would also explain her accusations of him. I mean, Nash wasn't exactly Willow, but he knew a little bit about the human mind. Trauma and association and all that. He had spent four years in the military. So the whole umbrella thing- he got it.. to an extent. "Can I have the umbrella back please?" "Can you refrain from trying to knock me out with it please?" He raised an eyebrow, smirking a little bit. He didn't think she would, which was why he was being obnoxious about it. But it was a pretty fair question.
Aand then she flipped completely and started apologizing to him. Which was.. weird, but Nash couldn't complain because I mean, it was a lot better than getting yelled at.. or hit.. or accused of being a murderous pedophile. "I won't try anything." he assured, letting her take the umbrella and place it next to her. At least that was one problem out of the way. "You don't have to apologize. It's fine, really." He wasn't going to hold anything against her. Nash was just glad that it didn't come down to her calling the cops or something. Because that would have been a lot of explaining things that Nash had no explanation for and it really just would have been a big mess. He laughed a little when she went on about how guys were always hungry (it was pretty true) though he couldn't help but wonder if Matt was going to be okay with them raiding his kitchen. He seemed pretty serious about his food. Emma knew him better than Nash did though so he let her do what she wanted, which involved making them food. Yeah, he wasn't complaining.
"That would be awesome." He admitted, no longer feeling bad about eating Matt's food once she told him what they were having. She began taking things out and he walked itno the kitchen, answering her questions. "A nickname for what?" "Just a nickname. It's not short for anything. I don't even remember where it came from to be honest." It just kind of happened and he liked it and that was that. Emma had put up water and taken out pasta while they talked. He smirked when she asked if his and Matt's meeting had been his strangest. You would only think. "I don't know. I mean, getting attacked by an umbrella-wielding girl is up there too." No offence to Emma, it had just been strange. And she was strange. But… they were wolves. I mean, strangeness was sort of to be expected. I mean Nash wasn't claiming that he was normal and well, he had met Matt. "How much would you like?" "Just a small plate. What can I do?" Did Nash had culinary skills? Not in the slightest. But he wouldn't feel right just standing around while she did all the work either so he was going to attempt to be useful.
