Getting thrown into trees definitely wasn’t ideal handling it, but considering how close they were to the edge of the cliff, Nash knew it could have been a lot worse. The bruises would feel like shit for maybe ten minutes. Because being a shifter had its awesome advantages. Another one, at the moment, was their ability to plan and communicate without being overheard by the vampire. Were it not for the awesome teamwork and the element of surprise they had going for them, there was definitely no way they could have taken it. Luckily, they did have those things. And they were going to use them to their advantage as much as possible. ”If something happens I’m moving—just hurry up.” ”Wait for it.” He repeated in a warning tone, aware they were only going to have one shot to get this right before the vampire caught on. And with that he went forward and just like he’d hoped, the vampire hadn’t been expecting the second attack. With half its focus on Matt, Nash managed to grip onto its other arm, and as he tore it he got like a crazy rush of adrenaline. It was strange, but he was able to use it to his advantage, and in a very short amount of time the vampire was torn apart.
”Are you okay? Good thinking..” ”I’m fine. You?” Before he could even process what was going on Matt was on the ground and Nash focused in on his thoughts for the first time in a while, trying to make sure he hadn’t been hurt. It didn’t seem like it, but it was still strange behavior (even for Matt), so he couldn’t be sure. At the same time, Nash was beginning to realize that there was definitely something wrong with him. Yeah, it was partially because he was a smart rational human being but seriously, it didn’t take one of those to realize there was something off about this. I mean, this was the guy who’d just run half a mile without getting out of breath, and remained completely calm in the face of a vampire attack. He didn’t just have panic attacks for no reason. ”Nash? It’s dead. We’re done.” Realizing that Matt could read his thoughts, Nash pushed it to the back of his mind again and focused on the matter at hand. He’d have just shifted back if it weren’t for the fact their clothes were in his truck. ”Yeah.. Good job.”

Matt had been able to wait for Nash to tell him to go, though reluctantly. He knew it was sort of important and Nash made it clear that waiting was a good idea. His Wait for it also clearly stated that if Matt decided not to wait for it he could mess everything up. And so he did wait, and he went when he was supposed to and they killed the vampire so everything should have been fine. But something weird was going on for sure. I’m fine. You? Fine… What was he going to say—that he was tired? Because there was no way Nash was taking that seriously if he complained about it. He was so tired though. It wasn’t normal tired. It was more like ‘can barely stand up’ tired. He did manage to pick himself back up despite his stumbling all over the place and at that time he didn’t need to focus much to notice something was happening with Nash.
Let’s get back to your truck, he suggested, not wanting to expend the energy required to stay a wolf. The whole clothes thing was always pretty inconvenient when they needed to phase without warning. Matt started lazily heading for the camp but Nash couldn’t hide completely what was happening to him. What’re you trying to hide? You couldn’t just push thoughts back without there being an obvious indication that something was missing. Of course, just asking about it made it like a billion times harder not to think about it. Okay dude are you still freaking out? It’s over—I’m pretty sure you were fine before. If Nash wanted to be weird and freak out for once the time for that was like…during the fight. Not after. They got back to the camp and Matt immediately phased and threw shorts on before the tripping over to the soda. He wasn’t even going to put a shirt on because that was just extra work for him. He figured that maybe getting sugar high again would stop the nonsense but yawning while chugging leads to choking and so there was some spilled soda and then he gave up and plopped onto a chair, kind of relieved that he could keep his thoughts to himself though now it was going to be harder to annoy Nash about it. ”That…was a good idea you had,” he said awkwardly as it start to hit him that they’d just been attacked by a vampire. Going back to the truck was a good idea. Or it would be assuming that the two of them could make it there. Matt seriously looked like he was drunk the way he was stumbling around and it was kind of concerning because Nash had been with him and there was definitely no alcohol present. Nash gave him another cautious glance as they started walking, before he went and decided to start being all annoying. ”What’re you trying to hide?” Well, something he didn’t want Matt to know- obviously. That was a dumb question. But it brought back the thoughts to a place where Matt could hear them so he supposed it had been smart on the kid’s part. ”Nothing.” he asserted, and all things considered he thought he was doing a pretty good job of keeping it together until Matt started with the pushing again. ”Okay dude are you still freaking out? It’s over- I’m pretty sure you were fine before.” ”I’m fine now.” ‘Cuz fine Nash gave that kind of an attitude. Yup. ”Sorry… I don’t know what’s going on.”
Fortunately, they didn’t need to have this conversation anymore because Nash noticed the truck and hurried towards it, phasing back and changing before Matt got back because he was being a snail-wolf, and taking the extra like minute while the other guy got himself together (and went to the food because he was Matt and that wasn’t surprising in the slightest) to sit in the truck and try and get his breathing under control. The sitting still thing wasn’t really working for him though for long so it ended up being pacing around the side until he heard Matt like trying to drink and yawn at the same time (again not total atypical Matt behavior) which not surprisingly didn’t go very well for him. ”You good? It’d be a little anti-climactic to kill a vampire and then die choking.” When Matt spoke again he realized how tired he sounded and that also wasn’t abnormal but putting everything together he was starting to have second thoughts. ”That.. was a good idea you had.” He grinned a little. Yeah. Well this was awkward. ”I’m just glad it worked.”

Something was messing with Nash for sure at that point because Nash snapped and that just wasn’t like him. Sorry… I don’t know what’s going on. ”It’s cool…you’re fine.” Not much sooner, Nash ran ahead and Matt would have tried to call out and ask him what was going on but he wasn’t really concentrating on walking very well and walking and yelling at the same time would have been a lot. By the time Matt got back to the truck he did manage to catch Nash pacing out of the corner of his eye. He’d deal with that once he was done choking. You good? It’d be a little anti-climactic to kill a vampire and then die choking. Matt grinned a little despite the circumstances. ”Thanks for the concern. I’m fine,” he spoke weakly before he dropped into the chair. ”Why were you pacing?” It wasn’t until then that Matt started to put two and two together. Something was up with him, and something was definitely up with Nash. I’m just glad it worked. ”What if…it didn’t?”
Now fighting to keep his eyes open he was really struggling with the whole thinking thing but there was only one thing he could think of that could be messing with them like that. ”Okay…uumm…” He knew that he owed Nash a little bit of an explanation after his whole ‘oh btdubbs I didn’t actually tell you how to kill a vampire right’. ”Sometimes…vampires can have freaky power things… like how we can hear each other’s thoughts sometimes. I don’t know…maybe…” He had a thought but the more he expanded on it in his head the less it made sense. ”I mean… they’re supposed to stop having effects after it dies…” He then yawned, losing his train of thought. ”What exactly is going on with you? It’s kind of freaking me out a little…and we just fought a vampire so…” Queue the drunk Tilly voice again.

II’m fine.. you’re fine.. Matt could try to convince him that they were fine all he wanted, but Nash was the smart one in this relationship, and that kind of bullshit wasn’t going to fly far. Standing still and staying calm probably would have been completely impossible if it wasn’t for Nash’s above-average discipline level, and even with the conscious control he was still verging breakdown. ”Why were you pacing?” ”Just thinking.” he replied. Technically, that was what he was doing. Matt was probably going to be all pushy about it because that’s what he did but for that to work to his advantage his reflexes needed to be about a thousand times better.
”What if.. it didn’t” Kay, well one, way to take back a compliment. Two, ”What do you mean?” Nash narrowed his expression, giving Matt that look (not the ‘shut up you’re an idiot’ look more of the ‘what the hell aren’t you telling me’ look.. yeah yeah I know they look the same okay). ”Sometimes…vampires can have freaky power things… like how we can hear each other’s thoughts sometimes. I don’t know…maybe…” ”And you didn’t find this worth mentioning before?” Okay, so, in Matt’s defense, Nash would be a lot less irritated by this were he in his normal temperament . It wasn’t even Matt he was upset about just the fact that there was a vampire fucking with their bodies and they really couldn’t do much about it. ”They’re supposed to stop having effects after it dies.” ”So you’re saying that it’s not dead..” Yeah, it wasn’t a question. Fan-freakin-tastic. ”You did get a good look at it, right? Looked pretty damn dead to me.” I mean, they’d torn it to shreds. It wasn’t moving, it wasn’t getting back up.. This wasn’t supposed to be that complicated.
Nash took a deep breath as Matt went back at the harassing him thing. Which was kind of just failing since there was like a lag between every word and he sounded like by the time he got to the end of his point he didn’t even know what he was talking about anymore and Nash could probably just say ‘no’ and he’d be like ‘mkay’ but Nash wasn’t that obnoxious and so he was actually going to answer the question. ”I just feel really.. on edge.” Okay, so, that was kind of an understatement. It was pretty obvious that this wasn’t the time to hold back shit and be a prideful idiot (which was where Nash differs from the Phips character standard) ”And kind of like I downed eight energy drinks.” At least, that’s what Nash imagined downing eight energy drinks would feel like if you didn’t end up dying instantly because that happened to people and that’s why Nash didn’t drink that shit. ”What about you? I know you pride yourself on being able to fall asleep anywhere but this is pretty extreme even for you.”

Just thinking. Matt reluctantly let it go because he knew that Nash wasn’t going to admit anything he really didn’t want to… though he was still concerned and never stopped giving Nash a skeptic look. Even if Nash hadn’t been put on some weird vampire energy boost, he’d have had a good reason to flip over Matt’s suggestion but in Matt’s defense, knowing that vampires could do freaky shit to them wouldn’t have been helpful in the least bit and Nash would have realized that if he wasn’t out of it. And you didn’t find this worth mentioning before? He grinned nervously, moving his hand to the back of his neck as he spoke. He knew that Nash wasn’t usually like this but regardless he didn’t really know how to deal with it. ”It’s not like I could’ve prepared you… I could list thousands of things they could possibly have the ability to do if I had the time, attention span, and food sources to last long enough.” So you’re saying that it’s not dead.. ”I’m not saying that… I’m thinking it,” he muttered. ”Saying it wouldn’t make any sense.” Matt had seen it just as Nash had. ”I’m…just as confused as you are…”
I just feel really.. on edge. And kind of like I downed eight energy drinks. ”Well damn, that explains a lot.” He gave Nash a concerned look. ”We need to fix this before you have a heart attack or something.” He seemed really jittery and jumpy and that just wasn’t Nash. If another vampire decided to show up they weren’t going to be able to handle it being unable to focus or physically incapable. But of course, that’s where Matt’s mind was going. That’s always where his mind went. Even without another vampire attack it’d be nice to figure out this shit because it was just really unpleasant for both of them. What about you? ”Like… the opposite of you, I guess. I’m really tired. I feel like I weigh a billion pounds and I can’t think.” He shot a warning glare at the older guy, almost expecting a sarcastic response. ”Before you say anything I swear to god this isn’t normal.” Matt would know. He was always tired. He knew what it felt like.

”It’s not like I could’ve prepared you… I could list thousands of things they could possibly have the ability to do if I had the time, attention span, and food sources to last long enough.” It was logical, the kind of logic Nash should have been able to figure out by himself were he not so preoccupied (although not really because like- he wasn’t the vampire expert here), but still being on the tense side of life, he responded ”You might want to add that to your vampire lecture anyway.” Yanno, because as unhelpful as it was as far as killing them was concerned, it was kind of nice to know that the thing you were trying to kill had the potential to use freaky powers on you before they did it.. ”I’m not saying that.. I’m thinking it. Saying it wouldn’t make any sense.” ”Can you try to take this seriously? It’s really not the time.” Yeah, remember when Nash told him to loosen up earlier? That ended when they got attacked. Now he was expecting Matt to be serious again.
Nash had kind of been hoping that Matt knew a little more than just that it probably wasn’t dead (like yanno, how to actually kill it for good) but that didn’t seem to be the case. Taking a deep breath, he tried to think about what he knew and figure something out. ”Maybe we should.. go back?” It didn’t’ seem like a good idea, and it hardly looked like Matt wanted to move from the chair he was sitting in, but Nash couldn’t think of much else. He was trying. ”If it’s not dead, we need to figure out how to kill it. And that’s not gonna happen here.” if whatever it was was causing them both problems and that was going to happen until it was dead, Nash was going to do whatever he had to to kill it as fast as possible. He didn’t really think it was going to get up and walk away, but giving it the time.. or others the time to find it, there was really just a lot of reasons why he wasn’t comfortable with it being so far away… and not dead. (Mostly just not dead.)
Nash finally fessed up to Matt about what was going on and Matt’s response was absolutely in no way helpful. ”We need to fix this before you have a heart attack or something.” Yeah, like, smooth Matt. The best way to calm someone who’s irrationally nervous down is to tell them that they actually have a very good reason to be nervous. Pure genius. ”That’d be nice.” he murmured, pulling his hands through his hair (which is totally a Lee thing before you say it I know shush). Then Matt confirmed that he was tired, but beat Nash to any comment about this being how Matt was like eight days a week with his ”Before you say anything I swear to god this isn’t normal” ”Okay- I believe you… I guess that explains a lot too.” The thinking thing was obviously difficult for both of them which was clearly explaining the lack of brilliant solution to the problem.

You might want to add that to your vampire lecture anyway. ”Nash, it’s rare to come across a vampire like that. It wasn’t one of the things I thought of when I had to explain the billion other things you needed to know.” There was a lot to explain to Nash when he hadn’t known anything and it wasn’t like it was a conversation Matt had a lot of practice with. He was bound to miss things—you were supposed to learn that stuff as you went. Can you try to take this seriously? It’s really not the time. The funny thing was Matt wasn’t trying to be funny or witty or anything like that. He was just really confused. ”Dude, trust me, I’m completely serious. I’m thinking it’s not dead, but that can’t be true—I mean your idea was perfect. We finished it…” Seriously Matt was sort of freaking out too. He wasn’t taking it as a joke. He knew though that he had to be careful about what he said because Nash wasn’t in the mood for joking around and Matt knew it wasn’t his fault.
Maybe we should.. go back? That made Matt nervous. He knew it was probably what they’d have to do, but he figured it was dangerous. ”If it’s not dead… we can’t fight it right now—I can’t move and you can’t think.” He knew that didn’t make much sense because the thing was like ripped apart but the thought of it not being dead just made going back to it sound like a bad idea. If it’s not dead, we need to figure out how to kill it. And that’s not gonna happen here. ”You’re right—I just wish you weren’t.” If the vampire needed to die for them to get back to normal and they somehow lost it… they were pretty screwed. He was getting frustrated because he was supposed to know what the problem was. ”I don’t know anymore than you do about it,” he reminded Nash. At that point he’d told Nash all that he knew over time. It wasn’t like he’d had time to prepare and have someone sit down with him to explain everything about killing vampires before he phased…and after he’d phased anyone who’d known anything wasn’t around to explain it. ”But we’re gonna have to figure something out.”
And finally Matt had progress with Nash and his stubbornness. Not that knowing what was wrong with him helped Matt to fixed the problem but it was nice to understand what he was dealing with and how he needed to be careful with what he said. That’d be nice. ”Look, I’m sorry. I don’t want you anxious—we’ll figure it out. Try not to worry.” Matt stood up slowly trying to assure Nash that they were going to do something about it rather than just sitting there. Not that he could stand a few seconds without stumbling over. ”I’m not phasing unless I have to,” he informed Nash knowing that phasing was just going to reduce him to a blob on the ground. ”Let’s go check it out,” he said unsurely as he began to walk away from the camp.

It was only after Matt explained everything that Nash realized how ridiculous and unfair he was being. ”You’re right- I’m sorry.” There wans’t much else he could do, other than try to get past it and actually be helpful. Nash knew Matt wasn’t going to like the idea. I mean – Matt didn’t like anything that put them at any risk for being attacked by a vampire. This “lets go back to the vampire business” was kind of like Fred’s shitty idea that one time. ”If it’s not dead.. we can’t fight it right now- I can’t move and you can’ think.” ”Then you think and I’ll move.” he responded quickly, ”Who else is gonna fight it for us? We’ll figure it out.” It was obviously neither of them were even close to accomplishing that part, but sometimes the best ideas came on the fly and it was likely enough they weren’t going to need to do much anyway because things which had been disemboweled did not wake up and put themselves back together again.
”Look, I’m sorry. I don’t want you anxious- we’ll figure it out.” (I’m pretty sure ‘we’ll figure it out’ has now been said more than four times in the last two posts) ”Try not to worry” ”I’m not worried.” he responded, realizing how anxious he sounded and rolling his eyes. ”I’m not actually worried.” he corrected himself, trying to sound more confident and Nash-like. It wasn’t as if his actual opinions had changed. Nash hadn’t been scared of vampires before and he still wasn’t now. He didn’t need Matt to assure him they were going to figure shit out, because he knew it.. It was just hard to focus his thoughts and more importantly come up with a plan. ”I’m not phasing unless I have to.” He nodded, hoping as much as Matt that it didn’t come down to another vampire fight.
They started to walk away from the camp and the trip seemed a lot farther this time because they weren’t racing or shifted and it didn’t help that Matt was having a difficult time standing up and Nash was being hyper-alert to everything that moved (which yanno, in the middle of the forest, happened kind of every few seconds). He was trying to keep in time with Matt but at the same time he really didn't want to be anywhere near him when he got jumpy over stupid things. ”You good?” he asked, when they were about half way there. As soon as he saw the cliff, Nash ran ahead. The running probably wasn’t the best thing for him at the moment but he’d seen something (actually he hadn’t seen something) and getting there only confirmed that. ”Matt! “ he called back, looking around uneasily. ”Matt, it’s not there.”

You’re right- I’m sorry. Matt nodded. ”Thanks, don’t worry about it.” Again, he knew Nash felt like shit. He wasn’t going to give him any trouble over it. He was just glad the guy was thinking somewhat rationally because that clearly wasn’t easy at the moment. Then you think and I’ll move. Who else is gonna fight it for us? We’ll figure it out. Well Nash was doing a pretty good job because Matt was supposed to be the optimistic one. Not that Nash was really optimistic but he at least accepted that they needed to go do something more quickly than Matt did. Matt had to grin a little when Nash tried to convince him that he wasn’t worried. It was kind of difficult to believe that with the panic in Nash’s voice, but he knew it wasn’t real. ”I know what you mean,” he assured Nash. ”I am, so let’s go before I change my mind.”
They got about halfway there and Nash wanted to run ahead. You good? ”Mhm,” he responded with a nod before watching Nash run toward the cliffs where they’d seen the vampire. ”Nash maybe you shouldn’t be running very much,” Matt called back to him after a few seconds but it was too late and Nash had already begun to run. Nash should have been like… laying down and not moving to try to calm down. Not that the vampire power cared about science and physicality but at least if Nash wasn’t running around he wouldn’t be making things wore for himself. Anyway Matt really had been hoping for a more positive trip but as soon as he heard Matt! he knew something was wrong. He gave Nash a concerned look before he explained. Matt, it’s not there.
Well that was great. Matt frowned and made his way to Nash before all but dropping to the ground. ”I…don’t know what to do. We need to find it.” He had no idea how it had even moved the way they left it, or maybe who would have moved it. And by ‘we need to find it’ he meant ‘we need to fix this without moving’ which was obviously going to work out. By the look on Nash’s face he was pretty concerned too, whether it was real or not. ”Try to stay calm, man.” Matt was still sort of concerned about Nash being all panicky and he didn’t want him to lose his head. ”We could at least look around—if somehow it’s…back… it’s probably pissed off and looking for us.” Yea implying that it could possibly be like…back together… was crazy but yanno what at that point Matt didn’t even know what was too crazy to be true. And as unpleasant as seeing it again sounded, they needed to see it again to fix their problem.

Matt agreed to go (because there was literally no alternative) but it was clear he wasn’t really all for the idea. Or, yanno, Nash’s other idea. ”Nash maybe you shouldn’t be running very much.” Yeah, so, Nash hadn’t really planned on that being a problem because it never had been before but again, thinking about it, it made sense. He would have responded to that but running and breathing were hard enough at the moment without trying to talk. And when he got there they realized that they had a bigger problem than how shitty they were feeling which was just great awesome and all those are sarcastic words. Matt was right. They needed to find it. There really wasn’t an option there. Nash started pacing again, glancing at Matt on the ground every once in a while mostly just to confirm that nothing changed in their situation. ”Where would it go?” he asked in frustration. ”What was it even doing here in the first place? We’re practically in the middle of nowhere.” ”Try to stay calm, man.” ”Yeah.. okay..” ”We could at least look around- if somehow its.. back.. its probably pissed off and looking for us.” ”If it’s looking for us, finding it shouldn’t be too hard.” All they needed to do was get its attention and lets face it, Nash is a Phips character- that wasn’t going to be hard. The question was if they really wanted to deal with a pissed off, revenge seeking vampire at the moment.. or if they even could. ”But we need to figure out what we’re gonna do before then.” They needed some kind of a plan, because obviously, as good as the last one seemed, it hadn’t worked. However the vampire had gotten wherever it had gone, it wasn’t dead, and as crazy as it was there was no way they could argue it. So, the only other option was trying to rationalize it. ”Matt..vampires are already dead, right? I’m just thinkin’ out loud here but.. ripping off arms and stuff would kill a person because they’d bleed, and the head would cut off oxygen flow to the brain, but they don’t need any of that. That doesn’t explain how it’s walkin’ around right now but.. How do you kill something that wasn’t alive in the first place?”

Where would it go? That question was just ridiculous because like the thing had been in pieces. It shouldn’t have been able to go anywhere. What was it even doing here in the first place? We’re practically in the middle of nowhere. ”It probably followed our scent. I mean, most of them would attack just for the hell of it.” There wasn’t much else it could have been because no vampire that would attack shifters out of nowhere would be out there hunting because they wouldn’t be after animals. Yeah…okay… Matt knew that it was easier said and done but he felt that Nash needed the reminder every once in a while. If it’s looking for us, finding it shouldn’t be too hard. But we need to figure out what we’re gonna do before then. ”What the hell are we gonna do before then?” Matt wasn’t angry or anything—he just didn’t think they could come up with a plan and he certainly wasn’t the more strategic of the two. ”I mean… I could think for you and you could move for me but how are we supposed to get far if neither of us can do both?” It was hard to be positive about that because they were sitting their planning what they were going to do to something they’d just killed. Like, the conversation shouldn’t have been happening. They’d killed it. This was a messed up first impression for them and vampires. Nash did manage to come up with something that was sounding pretty reasonable which did give Matt a little more confidence. Matt sat up and thought about it for a minute. How do you kill something that wasn’t alive in the first place? Matt grinned slightly. ”You… destroy it, right? You completely deface it—don’t leave it anything to put back together.”

Okay, yeah, so, in talking out loud, Nash had asked a few stupid questions. Real stupid ones like yanno, where the dead dead thing had disappeared to and um, why it had been attacking them. In the heat of the moment he’d forgotten how there was never a logical explanation for anything in their lives. ”It probably followed our scent. I mean, most of them would attack just for the hell of it.” ”Right.. I guess I forgot what pleasant people they were.” He rolled his eyes, clearly getting frustrated. ”What the hell are we supposed to do before then?” ”I don’t know yet.” The pacing thing lasted until he was short of breath again and then he sat next to Matt. ”I mean… I could think for you and you could move for me but how are we supposed to get far if neither of us can do both?” ”We.. trick it.” Okay that one just sort of came out but the more he thought about it, that could work. ”We trick it. It worked last time.” Of course, they’d need to do something different. They’d also need to know what they were doing but.. they were getting somewhere. Finally, finally Nash managed to figure out the logical explanation for what was going on. He grinned back as Matt answered him. ”You… destroy it, right? You completely deface it- don’t leave anything to put back together.” ”Exactly.” And.. there was only one way to do that. ”We don’t happen to have the ability to shoot fire out of our hands or anything, do we?” See, you’d think he was being sarcastic, but really, you never knew. I mean, considering their job was to kill vampires, it seemed a hell of a lot more useful than the ability to make girls follow stupid orders. But, that was just one guy in a shitty situation’s humble opinion. Anyway, they didn’t have that power. So, they had to go about doing this the normal way. ”I've got an idea.. On a scale of one to ten, how much are you gonna want to kill me if I tell you we need to go back to the truck?”

At that point it was just stupid to try to filter things because yea, everything was going to sound ridiculous when it was said out loud but being subtle and trying to avoid talking about it was just going to get confusing. Right.. I guess I forgot what pleasant people they were. Matt grinned nervously, not exactly excited about the thought either… but that was what they did. I mean, they got bored. Cal and Blake were primary examples of that and had they known they could harass shifters all day along the borders they probably would be doing it. If a vampire was bored and headstrong enough it was likely to follow a scent just because it could. I don’t know yet. ”Dude I don’t think the pacing is helping,” he pointed out before yawning for like the billionth time. It was a wonder they were both able to carry out such a coherent conversation. With the way Nash was breathing Matt was surprised he could even get out full sentences without passing out. Luckily, his mind seemed to be working pretty well despite his anxiety. We..trick it. It did work last time. ”We could try… Good thing there’s two of us.” He was pretty happy to have Nash around for this because it wasn’t going to be possible by himself… for a lot of different reasons—one being that Nash was doing a pretty good job thinking about this. We don’t happen to have the ability to shoot fire out of our hands or anything, do we? Matt laughed a little, shaking his head. ”That’s a little more complicated… we won’t be able to do that until we’re like thirty so you’re gonna need to come up with something else.” As it seemed, Nash was way ahead of him. I’ve got an idea..On a scale of one to ten, how much are you gonna want to kill me if I tell you we need to go back to the truck? Matt looked at the older guy with curiosity before slowly struggling to get to his feet. ”Ten. Lucky for you I’m not in any condition to attack you right now,” he said, smirking slightly. He then turned and headed for the truck. ”Show me what you’re thinking.”

”Dude, I don’t think the pacing’s helping.” Neither was the pointing out the obvious, but Nash had already snapped at Matt once and was trying his best to keep from doing that again and therefor was keeping that remark inside his head. They were obviously both very rightfully stressed right now and they didn’t need to be making things more difficult for each other (which was what Nash considered being unnecessarily (StupidWordTakesSixTriesBeforeSpellCheckEven FiguresOutWhatIMTryingToSay) obnoxious even though any of my other characters would have been having at it just thought you needed to know). The focus Nash had was definitely working out for him though, because despite the shitty situation, he was quickly coming up with a plan for how to get them out of it. He smirked back at Matt when he replied ”Ten. Lucky for you I’m not in any condition to attack you right now.” ”You’ll have a chance later. I’ll be looking forward to it.” They got back to where they’d left their shit and Nash popped open the truck, immediately tossing most of their things onto the ground. He pulled out a bottle of gasoline from the back which no, was not conveniently kept there for the off chance they needed to cremate a dead person, but some people planned for other things and driving long distances in a state made up of like eighty percent forests meant you didn’t always know where you were going to find a gas station. It would have been nice if he’d also conveniently kept rope in his trunk but he didn’t so he took the bottle and started going through their things looking for something which would serve the same purpose, all the while beginning to instruct Matt. ”Put anything you’re strongly opposed to getting destroyed back in the truck.” He took a roll of paper towels and started undoing the whole thing, which got annoying fast since his hands were shaking from the ridiculous excessive energy. Once they was done he started spreading it in a line, rolling it the long way so it looked kind of like a tube and stepping on it so it stayed in place.
When it long enough he put the rest of the paper down in single sheets over a pretty big circle and threw a blanket over it and then started pouring the gasoline over the whole thing, making sure to spread it evenly across the line and then dump the rest on the main part. ”We need to cover it up. Start making a mess.” Nash didn’t plan on giving the vampire a lot of time to look around, but the clear path was going to give too much away. Luckily, it was a camp site. And therefor nobody was going to think twice if there was shit everywhere. He went back into the truck, started it up, and drove it a good distance away from the area that was going to explode. when he came back tossed a lighter at Matt. ”Go sit down or something. I’m gonna go find it and lead it back here. When I get it in the middle, you need to light the end.” He tried to dig his foot into the ground around the end and make a pit but the dirt was too hard. ”We’re gonna need to get out of here pretty quickly when it’s done.. so be ready. Let’s hope it works.”
