Grass can be cruel. It sits on the ground acting all innocent when really it is planning the demise of those who walk on it. It waits for people to get lost so it can watch in amusement and triumph as they fail to escape the unfamiliar terrain. Some people were smart enough to familiarize themselves with the area before wandering aimlessly around…and some people were Matt, Nash, April, and Emma. There they were, new to the area and having no clue where to find anything. As shifters, it was very important that they got to know the area before they accidentally crossed over onto claimed territory. So obviously, walking around lost was just a great idea. Matt was quickly growing frustrated, lacking any ounce of patience that it would take to make the situation slightly less horrible. The three people he was stuck lugging around… okay, they could have been less annoying and we’ll just leave it at that. We’re not lost. We’re misplaced. Just keep an eye out. They needed to do a little less complaining and little more looking out for vampires, or shifters…or houses. Yea, it sucked not knowing the area, but they were all in the same shithole so nobody had a right to complain.
It was time to end the senseless walking… at least for a little while. Okay… we’re stopping. You’re welcome, he said, hauling himself into a tree. He took some leaves, crumpled them in his hand, and attempted to drop them over Emma’s head before laying his back against the tree trunk. He had no desire to move for a little while, and he figured Nash and April were getting pissed off, because that was generally what they did, hence the reason why Matt decided that dropping a bunch of leaves on their heads wasn’t something he should do. He was pretty sure Nash could be up the tree and knocking Matt out pretty quickly, and he didn’t need April starting shit either. Obviously, he had a lot of faith in his pack members’ abilities to be civilized. Emma could get insane too at times, but Matt was slightly biased in her favor a lot of the time. I wish bark was edible. So his judgment was slightly blinded by hunger at the moment.[/blockquote]

Okay, so Emma may be one of the more crazy ones in the pack, but her mind was not going to ramble about grass. She has accepted that one day the earth would get back at humanity for all of the horrible things. There was no point in dwelling on it. Might as well live life until the trees decided to attack, because they were the ones that would make the first move. The grass seems a little more patient and well more strategic. Just saying. “Well according to the thesaurus misplaced and lost are synonyms. So you are both correct and incorrect, Matthew. We are lost and technically misplaced.” Yes, Emma had random facts in her head. Though anybody with a brain knew that fact. She was just the only one willing to point it out, despite it being blatantly obvious. She didn’t really think things through. The teen had no filter and just said whatever came to her mind. And whatever she said was rarely sarcastic or sassy. Just her saying things. Unless when she was responding to something to Matt, because then her tone had a slight sassy tone to it. Of course she toned it down with April around, since the older woman was dubbed the sassy one. Emma didn’t want to rob her older sister of her title.
“Nobody said thank you,” Emma muttered to herself, once again pointing out the very obvious. Em didn’t really understand why they were stopping. “Why are we even stopping? You wanted us to know the area. And stopping would be counterproductive. And as an alpha you should really avoid doing that. Especially since you are the one who is supposed to be on top of things and technically be the adult. Though you get a little slack because of your age, because according to some states you’re not actually a legal adult. Though that shouldn’t stop you from acting like one, I’m just saying.” She took a deep breath, because breathing during her rambles was nearly impossible for her. It was a wonder anybody ever actually knew what she was saying since she talked really fast and a lot. Actually she was relatively sure only her pack only caught half of what she said on a normal basis. To be honest if she was a normal person, she would never listen to someone like her. But of course her mind wasn’t wired that way, something many therapists told her parents. She physically had no filter, the part of the brain that makes you stop and think about things did not function for her. So she literally could not help what she said the majority of the time. Of course how she said them was completely up to her. And liked stated earlier, 9 times out of 10 her tone signified her dialogue as harmless.
Em watched as her alpha decided to rudely put leaves in her hair. She let out a squeak before shaking her head and tossing a glare at Matt. Of course she would be the one to get leaves in the hair. Unlike the other two, Em took it in stride and retaliated with something not so violent. Something that was assumed from Nash and April. That being said, the girl grabbed two big handfuls of grass, walked over to Matt, and promptly dropped the grass on his head. “I hear grass tastes great this time of year.” And with that she stuck her tongue out at him and turned her attention back to the other two. Because Matt and Emma weren’t the only ones there. Though the other two were probably just watching the two kids duke it out. “Nash, I think you should take the lead now.” She nodded once at him for confirmation. She would have asked April, but she was relatively sure (assumed) her older sister would just cause more problems. Actually none of them were really capable of leading a group. How they survived this long was beyond Em’s comprehension.

Well, today was starting to suck. Socializing with his packmates was enough of a chore when they werne't lost.. And they were lost-- Nash didn't give a damn what Matt wanted to call it. Emma didn't seem to either, but her rant didn't do much for their situation. (Lets face it, NOTHING she said ever did much for their situation.) 'We are lost and technically misplaced.' "Great, 'cuz being one of those wasn't bad enough." Yes, the pessimism was needed. If they were going by the head idiot's logic, it was the grass's fault they were lost (because grass is diabolical like that). If they were going by miss perpetual sugar high's, it was a lovely day to get stuck int he forest with the three most annoying people on Earth. Aside from thinking about checking them all into an asylum, Nash wanted nothing more than to leave, but apparently he had some obligation to make sure they didn't get killed (which they couldn't manage without him, clearly).
'Okay.. we're stopping. You're welcome.' "Nobody said they wanted to stop." Actually, stopping seemed like a big waste of daylight they could be using to get out of the forest. Again, it seemed like Emma was agreeing with him, but Nash didn't feel like filtering through all the Emma garbage to see if that was actually the case. Besides, he was a bit too distracted by Emma and Matt grass fight... which was in no way surprising behavior for them. Ally was right on the dot... They were an extremely predictable lot. Regardless of the situation, Nash responded violently, Emma spastically, April sarcastically, and Matt.. well nobody knew exactly what his problem was, which was probably why he was in charge. Being the smart one, (and y'all know there's a problem when Phips is playing the smart one) Nash had a large bag of M&Ms in his pocket which he was eating by the handful, trying his best to ignore people. “Nash, I think you should take the lead now.” He nodded back at her, resisting the urge to smirk a little. "C'mon, get your asses up. Down in your case Matt. We're moving."

So far it had not been a good day, and it was only going more and more downhill (figuratively of course) as it went on. Matt and Emma were acting particularly stupid, and April had had just about enough of their antics. When they started the grass fighting, it was all she could do not to walk over and hit both of them upside the head before ranting at them about why they shouldn't be doing that, but luckily, it stopped when Emma (yes, Emma of all people - go figure, maybe the day was taking a turn for the better for a change, now wouldn't that be nice) suggested that Nash take over, and he did so willingly. Now normally, April would have argued that she be the one to take over, but Nash was almost as good as her in these types of things (leadership mainly) so she decided to let him have a go at it.
"It's about time someone had some sense around here. And here I thought I was going to have to knock some into you." she said, looking primarily at Emma as she said it. Just because they were sisters didn't mean that April had to like her. In fact, she was annoyed by her over ninety percent of the time. Just saying.
Flipping a strand of red hair out of her face, she added demandingly, "And if we ever find our way into civilization, you're all going to make this up to me by buying me a shit ton of hair dye. I'm going to dye my fur purple. Maybe red. And in case you were wondering, that was not a request or a rhetorical question or anything of the type. Just to clear that up." noticing Nash's M&Ms, she then attempted to grab a handful for herself. "Oh how kind of you, you brought a snack to share."

Everyone was being the obnoxiously predictable. There was Emma, who was pretty chatty and going off on tangents as specific as Matt’s particular word choices. Nash was being negative and trying to take charge and April wasn’t taking any shit from anyone. Out of everyone, Emma was being the least depressing so at the moment, she was Matt’s favorite, though that didn’t save her from his sarcasm. Well according to the thesaurus misplaced and lost are synonyms. So you are both correct and incorrect, Matthew. ”It’s Matt. Matt.” Because out of all her ranting that was the most important to him. She probably called him by his full name more than anyone and it was just one extra syllable but he didn’t like it and so being addressed as such was distracting. Emma and Nash had mentioned that they didn’t want to stop which Matt didn’t really care about. ”We’re stopping because I feel like it. Walking wasn’t getting us anywhere. We need to figure out where we’re going.” And then there was grass on his head falling over his face. That wasn’t exactly what he had in mind as far as food was concerned. ”Gross, Emma,” he exclaimed, shaking it off his head.
And pretty soon Matt was being voted out of power. He rolled his eyes and let himself drop so that he was hanging by his legs off the branch. ”Feelin’ the love.” He could have ordered them not to leave but he didn’t like doing that, and he sort of knew that Nash leading the way was probably a good idea… not to mention any ridiculous misuse of power was going to get Matt into bad situations with the other three. He didn’t need Nash like tackling him or something anyway because we all know who’d win that fight. Still, Matt was a difficult person when annoyed or hungry and right now he was both. Get your asses up. Down in your case Matt. We’re moving.” Matt crossed his arms. ”I’m not moving until I’m guaranteed food.” Later, when the rest of them wanted to go do something else and Matt wanted to stop for food, they were stopping for the damn food. He watched April take M&Ms from Nash and suddenly realized he should have been devouring those. That was enough to get him down from the tree. ”Dude I’ll pay you for those. Don’t let April eat them all. I need subsistence. ”[/style][/style]

They weren’t two things; they were one with the same definition. Essentially. That’s how it worked in the thesaurus and in her mind. Emma was an emotional logical thinker. Her emotions drove her logic; yea it’s a bit confusing to be her. Though Em wasn’t very irritated like the rest of them were. So the need to keep explaining herself over and over again was not there. She was just going to let it go for sole reason that she was actually having fun. Well that and April was here. Usually the boys could handle Emma and her obnoxious rambling, April however seemed to have no patience for her little sister. They were sisters, but not close sisters. Emma loved her sister and would do anything for her; however she did not like April on a normal basis. And the feeling seemed what mutual, and also confirmed by April’s next statement. The black haired girl had to suppress the urge to respond with a roll of her eyes. Her older sister intimidated her and she never had the courage to be sassy with her around.
“I think purple fur would be pretty cool. You would definitely stick out! Though you gotta like of what shade of purple. Bright purple would be pretty um…bad ass..?” The word ‘ass’ sounded so foreign coming out of her mouth. Emma didn’t like swearing a lot. She preferred to do it the old school, playground way. Well how kids used to swear. Now you have five year olds calling themselves foul names. Emma nearly had a heart attack when she heard a ten year old say the ‘f’ word. But of course it was normal to hear her pack mates swear. That was just how they were. Crazy and extremely blunt. Em was used to them saying foul things; it was awkward for her to hear it from her own mouth though. The younger girl ignored MATTHEW, she would forever call him by his full name. Like how Emma was working up the courage to call Nash, Nashville. She didn’t have a long name to call April, and her older sister probably liked it that way. Emma did turn around and stick her tongue out at him after his comment about the grass. Well she had every right to throw grass on his head. So he should suck it up.
Em watched April take the M&Ms from Nash. Surely that was not going to end well and more than likely escalate quickly. “Can I have some Nash?” Emma asked in a sweet tone. She wasn’t about to pay him for a handful of M&Ms and certainly wasn’t going to take them out of his hand either. Those were very bad ideas. Though of course she probably shouldn’t even have sugar to begin with. “M&Ms aren’t going to fill us though, we should really keep moving like Nash said. Especially if you guys want food and hair dye. This whole stopping thing is really counter-productive like I said earlier. I’m sure I don’t need to reiterate this point anymore. I’m just saying.” Emma didn’t have an attitude in her tone. She sounded pretty sweet and nice. Of course none of them were really verse in reading people’s body language and tones of voice. They pretty much took things at face value and ran with it. Okay, maybe the pack didn’t do that…Emma certainly did though.

”We’re stopping because I feel like it.” ”Well, as long as you had a good reason." Nash rolled his eyes again, starting to get pretty sarcastic because.. lets face it.. there was only so long you could be in the presence of the Human Dictionary, Grass Conspiriology Expert, and Wolf with Purple Fur without catching some sort of an attitude problem. Besides, Nash knew the three of them spoke sarcasm. English.. yeah he wans’t sure sure about that. He didn’t have a problem listening to Matt when the guy knew what he was talking about but considering how long they’d been lost, he wasn’t getting much leeway. ”Walking wasn’t getting us anywhere. We need to figure out where we’re going.” ”You’re right. Now that we’re not moving it’s a lot easier to weigh our options and make that decision. Before, we might have missed something. Lets see… if we go that way, theres trees, and if we go that way, theres… more trees. Tough choice. I guess we’ll put it to a vote.”
Somehow, it got decided that Nash was going to take over. (Okay, not somehow, Emma.. which was sort of a somehow because nobody really understood how her mind worked) April approved the idea in her own.. uniquely violent way and Matt didn’t pose any objections (ignoring the obnoxiousness because if I responded to every piece of obnoxiousness you people wrote this post would be a billion words). Of course, Nash had only gotten to wear the leader hat for about three point seven seconds before someone deicded to turn on the ridiculous. Usually Nash got along with April pretty well (despite her horrible attitude she was the only one with a place of residence on planet reality so at least the two of them had something in common) but despite the fact that he got along with her he didn’t approve of the whole threatening Emma thing and he definitely wasn’t going to take her demanding him to do things.
”No one forced you to come. If you don’t want to next time, save us all the trouble, stay home. We’ll try not to miss you too much. It won’t be hard.” Seriously, it wasn’t any more his fault than it was hers that they were lost. Or if you preferred the have this analogy from the ‘half full cup’ view point.. it was equally all their faults they were lost (except Matt was more at fault because he was leading but they really should have realized that was a dumb idea like an hour ago so.. back to being all their faults) Because April was already doing a great job at staying on his good side, she tried to steal his M&Ms. Nash held the bag up out of her reach. ”I’ll share – and you won’t complain the rest of the day.” All things considered, he could have been a lot meaner. He could have told her she needed to go hug her sister or something. But he wasn’t on that big a power trip.
Then of course, everyone else decided that they needed some. Obviously, Nash had seen this coming. Because he was dealing with children. And despite the fact he had authority in at least three ways.. there was no better tactic than bribery (as I’ve learned from Ally ;]) and no better form of bribery than food (especially in the given lost situation that they were in) Emma asked nicely (and was the only one to ask nicely), so, it wasn’t really like Nash could say no. He poured a decent amount into her hands. ”This goes completely against my better judgment. Try not to make me regret it too much” It was meant as a semi-joke.. Obviously it wasn’t that he didn’t want to share with her but.. really any sane person knew than Emma and candy was a horrible combination. So, that left the one child who was smart enough to use bribing back at him. Matt. He twisted the bag so it was closed and tossed it to the younger guy. ”There, now get down.”
Yeah, he wasn’t making Matt make a ridiculous promise but he and Matt alternated between helping each other out and he’d owe him later. Now that everyone had been properly bought into doing what they wanted to do in the first place (man, talk about a counterproductive group) Nash went back to what he was originally trying to do… find out where the hell they were. ”Look, I'll lead, but you guys need to decide what you wanna do. We don’t know if there’s actually anything to find out here.” He tossed a look at Mr. Its Important We Find Every Supernatural Territory In the TriState Area Because Im Paranoid ”But we’ve wasted enough time, if there is, I’d like it see it. If we turn back now we lose that chance,” because Nash was pretty sure none of them was stupid enough to sign up for this picnic twice ”but we get a change of view, the rest of our day to do whatever the hell we'd like, and whatever food Matt has at his place. I was serious about the vote.“

Everyone was talking at once, and to be perfectly honest, it was starting to give April a headache. They needed to get out of these woods, and fast. She just had to think of a good plan, because it seemed like no one else was able to. She shot a look at Matt when he said not to eat them all, and then turned to Emma who was suggesting shades of purple. "I'm going with dark purple. That way I won't stand out at nighttime like an idiot." she really did try to exercise patience when speaking to her sister. She did. Emma just kind of, well, annoyed her most of the time, that was all. It might seem as though April was always really mean to her younger twin sister, but to be honest, she was being pretty nice most of the time compared to how she could be acting. People just couldn't seem to see that for themselves, though, so they'd always complain about her. And by people, she meant the pack. And at this moment specifically, Nash, who told her she could only have some M&M's if she stopped complaining for the rest of the day. "Personally, I think I complain far less than you do, but if that's what it takes to feed me, so be it." she said with an eyeroll, actually taking the M&M's this time and dumping a handful into her mouth. As she stood there savouring the taste, she took in everyone else's conversations, watching with mild interest. They were all saying pretty much the same thing, in her opinion, but nothing was actually getting done about it. With a small sigh, she swallowed the M&M's she'd been eating and walked past the other three, finding a particularly tall tree and kicking it. It didn't move (well obviously, it was a tree), and apparently satisfied, she began to climb up it. She was tired of Nash telling her that they didn't care if she was around, so she might as well give them a little scare. Or maybe they really wouldn't care- either way they were stuck with her. She just wanted to make sure they actually got stuff done, and apparently she was the only one that could do that.
Climbing higher and higher, she finally reached the top of the tree. Standing on one of the top branches and holding the leaves and other branches with one hand to keep her steady, she looked around. She could see over all the other trees now, so it was easy to see which direction to go in... except all she could see, pretty much, was trees. There was a small clearing further ahead, though, which looked promising, and teh trees after the clearing looked like they were getting much thinner, which probably meant that they were getting closer to civilization after all. Excellent.
With that, April made her way back down the tree. It was pretty tall, so the whole endeavor probably lasted about ten minutes or so. Once she was only about five feet from the ground, she swung herself down easily back to where she'd been standing before. "There's a clearing that way-" she pointed- "and after that the trees get thinner. So if you guys wanna keep standing here talking about how much we need to get to civilization, that's fine. Or you could actually get off your lazy asses and actually move, and we might get there before nightfall." with that, she started walking in the direction she'd pointed, feeling quite triumphant. And they thought they didn't need her. Yeah right. ooc: i decided that april is going to be the acrobat of the pack idk someone had to do something and i'm bored hi guys
