Tegan was minding her own business…really. All she was doing was grocery shopping. Luckily she was only shopping for her and her sister. Her uncle didn’t exactly eat human food, so shopping for him was pointless. That being said she only had a few bags to actually carry to her car. It was a normal trip to the grocery store. Just going up and down the aisles and buying things. A normal errand. Tegan made her way to the car, she began loading up the olds mobile when she caught a scent of something. The girl didn’t have super smell like the shifters, except on a full moon, but her senses were a little stronger than humans on a normal basis. The blonde glanced at the store’s trash bin and saw a foot. She stopped a gasp from escaping her mouth as she ran over and noticed that the foot was still connected to a body. The girl looked at the body. It looked like a corpse, but so did her uncle. There was only way to know if it was a corpse or a vampire.
She slowly bent down and slid open one of eyelids. Sure enough he had eyes like a vampire. Well at least he wasn’t dead, just passed out. He reeked of alcohol. Tegan scrunched up her nose, trying to understand how this was even possible. She slowly stood and ran over to her car. Tegan couldn’t just leave him there, that wasn’t in her sweet nature. She slowly drove the car over to the trash bin and quickly got out. The blonde glanced at the body and realized that there was a problem with her plan…picking him up. She had no super human strength so this was going to be difficult. But it was going to happen. She opened her back seat and grabbed his hands. After, what felt like an hour, the body was finally in the car. Sighing, Tegan got in the front seat and drove off. Hopefully nobody saw her and thought she was trying to get rid of evidence. And arrest would not look good for her planned future. Even if the future had her stuck in some crappy part-time job.
A couple hours later, Tegan had the unconscious vampire on her couch while she put her groceries away. She wasn’t sure what to make for him when he woke up. So she just prepared a couple bags of blood her uncle had in the basement. Of course she was also making some tea, to calm herself down. She didn’t really think this whole thing through. She had picked up a sleeping vampire from an alley and brought him home. What was she supposed to do now? Tegan knew she couldn’t leave him, she would feel guilty about it for months. But she didn’t exactly have plans to do at this point. Hopefully Dodger wouldn’t come home, Tegan could only deal with crisis at a time. The pot started to whistle, signaling that they tea was done. The blonde dropped the cereal box she had in her hand and quickly turned it off. But apparently not soon enough because she heard someone stirring on the couch. Oh no.
Crap. Tegan glanced behind her and noticed there was now cereal on the ground. Crap, crap. The blonde grabbed a bag of blood from the refrigerator and put it into a coffee cup. She would have to explain everything later to her family. First things first. Deal with the strange vampire in her living room. Tegan poured herself a cup of tea as she slowly walked into the living. “Blood?” Tegan questioned in a quiet tone. She readied herself for whatever the vampire was going to do. Because honestly even she wouldn’t handle waking up in a stranger’s home very well. She would probably handle it better than most, but still not well. So she prepared herself for the worst. Hence the blood. Bribery. It was the only thing she used to get her way. It usually worked.

How many drinks did it take for a vampire to pass out? Weeell, there were a few problems conducting that test. Mainly the fact that counting past twelve while drunk was not something very many people are capable of. That, and Freddie wasn't counting. (The foresight needed to realize that could have been useful information was clearly beyond him.) He hadn't even known that it was possible for a vampire to pass out. The inability to sleep had been one of the things that made him drink so much in the first place. He couldn't do fifty years alone with his thoughts and no break. (Nobody should have been able to do that.) So he dulled it..killed time. It was a small thing at first and then it turned into a more constant thing and then.. well, and then this happened. Clearly, he kind of had a problem with his solution... They should write that on the warning labels.
He had no idea how long he'd been out. Just that he was starting to come too again when there was a strange noise.. You know, when you're half asleep and you hear something and it doesn't really startle you because you don't even know if it's real or not.. He would have just gone back to sleep but.. he was a vampire and so they didn't just 'go to sleep'. It wasn't possible. I mean.. if he had a few more bottles maybe but.. he didn't know where he'd left the bottles..because he was pretty sure he hadn't remembered there being a couch and..and he was on a couch. The noise..the girl.. there was a blond girl.. Suddenly things started to make sense (some sense.. slight sense) and he looked around curiously. "W..what happened? Where am I?"
Freddie was used to waking up in strange places. Hotels, mainly, while he was competing. He'd spent more time living in them than he did a house. But he'd ended up in all kinds of weird places over the years. I mean, it certainly wouldn't have been the first time he passed out in an alleyway. He remembered a few of those. But most of the time he imagined someone dragged his ass home. But he didn't have a home now and he didn't know anybody on this side of the country aside from an annoying noisy vampire so.. he really didn't know what the hell had happened here.
For the record, this was entirely strange Freddie behavior.. but for some reason didn't really feel very threatened here. I mean, it could have been because he was drunk.. and the couch wa sa lot nicer than where he'd passed out.. and the girl was human, she didn't seem imposing. Actually.. It took him a moment to realize that the girl was offering him blood.. in a cup. How...what? "No..thanks." That was awkward. Freddie wasn't really a please and thank yous kinda guy.. but he was so confused. And the scent of blood was making him sick so he was pretty sure drinking it just wouldn't be a smart idea at the moment. "I don't know you." Okay so..it was kind of a question, but mostly a statement, because Freddie was pretty damn sure he'd never seen the girl before in his life. And that was kind of a question because he was pretty sure he was in her house.

Tegan sucked in a breath at the sound of his voice. Oh, yea this may not have been a good idea. He was a vampire and to be fair she was merely human unless a full moon was out. So yea, she was at a major disadvantage. Why she didn’t just think of that to begin with was beyond her. Dodger surely would have thought this whole thing through. She would have leave him be in that alley. “You’re in my home. I mean, obviously you are in my home. It would be really weird if I brought you to a stranger’s house. Though to be honest bringing you home without knowing you is weird to.” So Teag had this thing with nervous rambling. Generally she was quiet around strangers, only opening up when she was comfortable with you. And when she was beyond nervous and couldn’t keep it inside. Like right now for instances. It wasn’t every day someone brought an unconscious vampire to their home. A vampire that they didn’t even know, one that could kill her on the spot. So yes she had every right to be so nervous that she hit rambling point. “You passed out and I brought you here….” Tegan’s voice trailed off as she explained what happened and then quickly added, “You looked uncomfortable cuddling with the grocery store’s trash.” She said it in such a quiet tone that it was hard to take that statement the wrong way. Slowly she made her way towards the couch.
She hesitantly set the coffee cup of blood on the table in front of him. “Just in case you change your mind.” Tegan glanced around nervously. “Um, do you want a blanket or something?” It wasn’t like she didn’t know what it was like to stand in a room alone with a vampire. Her uncle and the owner of the home was a vampire after all. It wasn’t that that made her feel awkward. It was that he was a stranger and this was probably the weirdest situation she’s ever put herself in. But the need to take care of him made her work past that and…well take care of him. Though she knew from her uncle that a blanket was useless to a vampire. There wasn’t anything she really could do. Their super healing would take care of any hang over. He didn’t want the blood in the cup. And well…there was the TV. Maybe there was a show he was missing that she could put on. Something to make him feel more welcomed. Even though she was more in danger of anything than he was. But that didn’t matter. Tegan always put others before her. Even strangers that she didn’t trust. The blonde bit her lower lip and slowly sat on the edge of the end table awkwardly. Careful not to knock over the blood.
“I know, and I’m sorry about that,” Tegan blurted out and then realizing how weird that sounded. “I mean I’m sorry if I’m freaking you out. I’m not a dangerous person, I can barely kill a fly let alone a vampire.” Tegan was honestly shocked she managed to carry him into the house to begin with. It was a trick. A trick that she miraculously pulled off on her own. It paid off to work out all those morning while Dodger’s was still passed out and her uncle was out hunting. The blonde tapped her foot awkwardly on the floor. “I’m Tegan DeLuca.” The small girl reached her hand out and accidentally knocked into the cup of blood next to her. It happened in slow motion really. Her eyes went wide in horror as she watched the cup get pulled down by gravity. Oh no, no, no, no, no. That’s just what she needed, another thing to clean up after. And it was blood. Something that would inevitably stain. Something she didn’t really want to explain to her uncle. “Oh my god, I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” Tegan couldn’t really tell if she was apologizing to the carpet or to Freddie. It would beyond weird either way. And honestly it would be unneeded either way.

“You’re in my home. I mean, obviously you are in my home. It would be really weird if I brought you to a stranger’s house. Though to be honest bringing you home without knowing you is weird to.” Luckily, Freddie actually managed to catch most of that rambling in his half-awake state. "Just a little bit." he agreed, looking around the room which now, very obviously, resembled a house... Why the girl had brought him to her house however was anything but obvious. It was clear she sounded nervous. He wasn't even trying to draw that out of her. But it wasn't like he'd broken in or something. She'd brought him here. She went ahead and confirmed the fact he'd been passed out. Had he spoken to her before? He didn't think so. “You looked uncomfortable cuddling with the grocery store’s trash.” Was that where he'd been? "Oh." Well, she would know better than he would. He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, realizing that this was probably the closest thing he'd had to civil conversation since being turned.
She put the blood down on the table and offered him a blanket. "No.. I'm fine. Just.. give me a minute." Obviously, vampires weren't really meant to drink, but it's not like they had to worry about liver failure or any of that other stuff was seemed so concerning in human life. Eternal damnation.. that was what this was. Despite how much he'd drank, in a few hours he'd be one hundred percent. And then he'd start over. Rinse and repeat. Except for the part when he woke up on some nice girl's couch. That was kind of a one time fluke thing. Even god screwed up every once in a while. Then she started apologizing, excessively.. for what he had no idea. but he got hung up on the last part of her sentence. "I couldn't kill a fly, let alone a vampire."
"How did you know... " He didn't even realize before- when she'd offered him the blood- normal humans didn't know about vampires. But she... "You're not a human." He couldn't believe he'd missed that. Although between the alcohol in his system and the cup of blood on the table, it really wasn't that surprising. She wasn't a vampire.. What else could she be? She had human blood.. but there was something different about it. It didn't smell appealing at all. Which, in hindsight, was probably very good for her. For both of them. "You've got nothing to be sorry for." he brushed it off, finally responding to her earlier statement while he sat up. "I was just surprised." I mean, it was hardly something he had happen to him very often. He firmly believed that all people were assholes. Then you had this girl.. Yeah, so, he was a little intrigued.
"I'm Tegan DeLuca." "Freddie." he nodded, not having any problems recalling the name he'd chosen for himself over his given one.. It had been more than thirty years.. He'd wiped the slate clean as can be. Well, okay, so he'd maybe sort of kind of blown a bit of dust off the surface and stopped there. But anyway. He would have shaken her hand but before he knew it the cup was on the floor. And thanks to gravity, the blood was no longer in the cup. “Oh my god, I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” "Calm down.. I'll help you clean it up." Yeah, he was definitely being weird. I mean.. maybe he got hit on the hear or something when he passed out. Freddie didn't clean up his own messes.. but.. he felt he kind of owed it to the girl. She'd been really good to him and yanno.. it had been a few decades since he'd been social. It was kind of the least he could do.

Tegan bit her lip and shook her leg nervously. He told her to give him a minute so that’s what she was going to do. But she wasn’t stupid. She wasn’t going to leave him alone in the room. Tegan was a nice person, but she wasn’t born yesterday. That would be super awkward. And impossible. There’s no way she could go from a one minute year old to an 18 year old within a day. Teag has seen miracles and supernatural things that was not one of them though. She knew the difference between supernatural and impossible. She continued to stare at the man. It was true what they said about vampire genes. He was gorgeous. Outside of the smell of alcohol and disheveled clothes. This guy was attractive, like naturally attractive. Tegan began to feel a little self-conscious. Not in a way a silly school girl would get around a guy. More like how a low self-esteem person gets around an extremely attractive stranger. Like seriously there should be a law against vampires and their beauty. It was like nature decided to make it up to them, you know…take away their souls and give them drop dead looks. It didn’t seem like a fair trade, but Tegan could see the appeal of it.
Way to go Tegan. She should have known he would catch that. Honestly she was hoping that he would be too hung over to even process what she was saying. “Technically I am human. At least right now,” Tegan stated in a quiet tone, trying to write it off. Maybe he would mistake her for a shifter and leave it at that. And technically she was human right now. It was only during that time of the month when she was an actual beast. Okay, well if you want to be extreme truthful, she was a beast twice a month. But that was beside the point; he didn’t need to know that detail either. “Yea, that’s to be expected I guess. Honestly I don’t know what I was thinking. I just saw you passed out and I wanted to help.” It was the truth. Tegan thought everything through in life. She over thought things. She always planned and always followed through with those plans. Until it came to her impulse of helping people. When there were people in trouble regardless if she knew them or trusted them, she always helped them out. It was her greatest weakness and greatest impulse.
Freddie? Like Freddie Krueger? Freddie Prinze Jr.? Those Freddies were really impressionable. And this one seemed to follow suit. It had to be a trait these men shared in common or something. Like Freddie was an impressionable name. That was it! Of course she didn’t have time to analyze his name that much since the excitement of spill distracted her. The words ‘calm down’ never really had an effect on Tegan when she was like this. But for some reason this man’s voice did wonders. She paused for a moment and smiled up at him. “Thank you…” Tegan whispered and then added, “I’m going to get some paper towel and carpet cleaner.” Tegan quickly stood up and ran into the kitchen to get the supplies. She came back into the room and quickly sprayed the carpet with the cleaner. She glanced up at Freddie. “Can you find me something heavy?” It wasn’t the first time the girl spilled something on the carpet. She knew what to do. Clean up what she could at first. And then put paper towel and something heavy on the stain to soak it up. Leave it there for a few hours and it should be good as new. If it still wasn’t gone, repeat the process until it would be. She was glad to catch it now before it was too late.

”Technically I am a human. At least right now.” ”And the rest of the time?” he raised an eyebrow. Yeah, there was an obvious guess to anybody who’d ever like watched TV, but Freddie’s knowledge on the supernatural world was pretty lacking. He’d been one of those humans who stuck to human things, even as a child. And he thought that those people who obsessed over like vampire love stories or whatever the hell they were were totally stupid. Okay.. so he thought everyone was stupid. And, he’d probably read like a grand total of five books in his life. Which explained a lot but anyway, he didn’t know shit about vampires or any other creatures that didn’t exist. And then he got turned and after the whole denial period just kind of figured things out as they happened. So, he was curious. ”I mean, you don’t need to tell me, but I figure it can’t be much worse.” Being a vampire sucked- at least that’s how Freddie saw it. If he could go back and undo that day and get killed instead he’d have gladly made the switch.
She seriously had to be a strange person to drag a random guy back to her house, especially knowing that they were a vampire. ”Well, thanks.” Again, incredibly awkward, but.. there wasn’t much else to say. He didn’t have anything to complain about.. for once. Then she thanked him and he was literally sure he’d never heard that before (okay, he’d never heard that before when there wasn’t a check in his hand after an incredibly obnoxious politically aimed sell out broadcast but.. I digress). He got up when she left the room and tried not to fall over because the vampire thing made hangovers a lot more bearable but it didn’t just fix everything. Though he was basically good by the time she got back with the magic spray that cleaned the carpet. ”Can you find me something heavy?” ”Yea, like.. furniture heavy or..” Like I said, Freddie had like no experience doing house work. Especially with things like magic spray which were relatively new. And obviously, being a vampire, his definition of what was heavy was a little different than Tegans.

She had learned through her vampire uncle that werewolves and vampires usually don’t get along. There were some unique situations to this idea though. She and her, werewolf, twin sister were living in a small apartment with her vampire uncle. And to be honest Tegan didn’t mind vampires. As long as they didn’t bother her or kill anyone she loved, then she was fine with them. They were just being true to their nature. If she hated them for killing humans then she would have to hate herself for being equally as dangerous during the full moon. “Being a vampire can’t be that bad. You get to super strong, quick, and good looking.” Tegan realized what she said and immediately blushed. Sometimes she forgot that she couldn’t just say things to other people like she does with her uncle and sister. “I mean, you know…vampirism enhances your genes all across the board. Not saying you weren’t good looking as a human. I’m sure you were. I’m sorry.” She quickly silenced herself and looked at the ground, trying to hide her embarrassment. Freddie was good looking, it was an observation that couldn’t go unlooked. And usually Tegan was careful about what she said around strangers, but she got caught up in the fact that she was possibly making a new friend to even think before speaking.
Tegan put pressure on the paper towel and glanced around the room. Furniture would be inconvenient but she couldn’t see anything else heavy near her. “That works,” she smiled at him kindly. “Grab the coffee table, we can put a leg on the spill.” Once the spill was taken care of Tegan quickly put the empty cup into the sink and walked back to the living room. She grabbed the blankets that she had laid out and began folding them. Tegan couldn’t really get done with her day unless she knew everything was neat and organized. “I can give you a ride home, if you wanted to leave.” Tegan wasn’t really sure how to handle the rest of this situation. Freddie looked still pretty beaten up but Tegan wasn’t going to force him to stay at her home. “Or if you wanted to clean up, the bathroom is open and I’m sure my uncle has some free clothes for you to wear.” Tegan also didn’t want him to drive him home in that condition. She would feel a lot better knowing he was completely cleaned up and better before leaving him alone. She wanted to take care of him and make sure he was completely okay, it was something she would do for anybody really. Especially for someone she was fond of, he didn’t really give her a reason not to be fond of him. Though it never really crossed her mind that he could possibly not have a home, she did find him by a dumpster behind a grocery store.
