Tegan flipped a page in her new book, as she glanced up at the timer on the oven. There were six more minutes left until the cookies were done. The blonde had decided to make her twin’s favorite kind of cookies to bribe her into spending time with her. It wasn’t like she actually needed the bribe, but lately Dodger has been off disappearing and doing things without her lately. The two were complete opposites in every way. Back in Louisiana the only thing the two of them really bonded over was their family history and the mysterious disappearances happening in their town. Considering there wasn’t much else to find on their family history at this point, the two didn’t spend time together anymore. They were close, like any normal twin relationship. But they weren’t joined at the hips close. Which Tegan didn’t mind, spending too much time together could actually be a bad thing. But she did miss her twin and wanted to spend SOME time with her.
So she was using peanut butter chocolate chip cookies to bribe her into doing so. They were Dodger’s favorite and kind of hers too. Tegan liked all types of cookies really. She liked anything sweet, much like her personality. Tegan had a huge sweet tooth and could eat sugary treats from morning to night. And she was an awesome baker. Tegan loved to bake and cook. Without her, her sister would probably starve. Tegan was almost like a sixties housewife. She was kind, cleaned the house, cooked. Her clothes were up to date though and she was never planning on being a stay-at-home mom in the future. Tegan was looking for a part-time job currently, in hopes that she would be able to save up some money to get into the closest community college. She didn’t want to be a bum or live off of her uncle’s money for the rest of her life. She might act like a housewife on occasion, but she wasn’t an actual housewife. And definitely didn’t want to become one. But she didn’t have the bravery or heart to leave her family to start her own future though. She still needed to stay here and take care of everybody. That’s what mattered.
The timer soon went off and Tegan slowly closed her book. She tossed her blonde curls into a pony tail and quickly took the cookies out of the oven. They smelled delicious as she carefully put them on a cooling rack. Once the cookies were secured, Tegan grabbed her phone and began to text her sister. ‘Guess what!!! I made your favorite cookies!! I shall give them to you, if you come home and spend some time with your adorable sister!’ Just imagine Tegan’s cherry and falsetto voice while reading that text. It was the same voice she always used when she wanted something. Which was rare, because Tegan wanted little from other people. Most of the time she gave, but rarely asked to receive. It was who she was, adorable, sweet Tegan. But don’t let that fool you. She did have a dark side, deep, deep, deep down. And once it was triggered it was hard to contain. She was such a good girl all the time that when she went bad, she went off the deep end. Tegan was honestly worse than Dodger when she went bad. But that was rare for her and generally her and her family attempted to keep it at bay.

She wasn't really sure when (or for that matter where) she'd fallen asleep, but Dodger definitely wasn't ready to be woken up yet. So whoever made her phone go off.. on full volume.. in her pocket... they'd better have been in a near death situation or they would be in one soon. She pulled it out and flipped it open in front of her face, honestly not even needing the name to know it was her sister.. because nobody else used that many exclamation marks at that time of the... oh, it was like two. Right. Well then. Dodger had stayed out all night again, which wasn't exactly uncommon for her. And she'd slept through half the day, which again, wasn't very surprising. Silently getting up and leaving whoever's room she was in (it didn't matter how much fun she'd had- they weren't getting a goodbye) she read the message to herself and smirked. Yeah, that was just like Tegan. She could practically hear her bubbly voice in her head, a complete contrast to Dodger's tone.. Like,on a scale of one to ten, she stayed around a four.. and Tegan was like a fifteen. She replied quickly. 'I'll be home soon.'
Yeah, soon. Which meant she was leaving. After a quick detour to the bathroom. She mussed up her hair and washed off her make up and slipped her jacket on, untimely successful in looking a little less like a vampire.. or yanno, wasted half asleep person. Their car was parked outside. The place wasn't too far away, so it didn't take her a horribly long time to get home. "Hey Teag." she greeted when she walked in, assuming her sister was somewhere she could hear her. Sure enough, she was in the kitchen reading. Dodger swiped one of the cookies off the tray, enjoying the gooey delicious otherwise awesome sweet treat. She couldn't cook to save her life. Like really, Dodge was the kind of person who found a way to burn water. So, she fund Tegan's skills quite marvelous. And useful.. otherwise there would just never be food. "These are awesome." And, since her sister basically filled the role of housewife, Dodger usually took it upon herself to bring in some money. She may have been the irresponsible one, but she wasn't just going to mooch off her uncle and sister either. She worked at a one of those funky record shops for a while before they moved in with their uncle. It got them enough money to stay on their feet. Now, however, she was unemployed, but that did nothing to keep her from spending nights on the town. She had her ways of getting in.. And..speaking of that..
"Look, I'm going out tonight, but you're right, we really do need to spend more time together. So I was thinking.. you should come with me." She smiled encouragingly, completely serious abotu the idea. Yeah, Dodger knew that her sister's definition of fun was nothing like her's, but it wasn't like Tegan had ever gone to a party with her before to say she didn't like it. It was just the overall concept that went against her 'good girl' image. "Tomorrow we can hang out here all day and bake cookies or do whatever you want to do but this is going to be huge.. Come on, it'll be fun. We have enough time to get you ready and everything." Because yeah, Dodger loved her sister dearly, exactly how she was, and wouldn't trade her for anything... but there was no way she was taking her out dressed like that without pretending they didn't know each other.

Tegan looked at her phone when it went off. First confusion passed over her, Dodger wasn’t home? Yes, the blonde already guessed that about her sister but still…where would she be in the middle of the afternoon. Surely asleep at some stranger’s house. Passed out because of alcohol and other party enhancers. Stuff that Tegan had forbidden herself to ever have. Especially after the small little incident when they first moved here. Tegan just wanted to make some friends and fit in. As it turns out the bad side of Tegan is extremely evil. In one night she made out with a guy, broke up two long-term relationships, give a girl a black eye, and sent at least three kids into therapy. After that the girl pretty much knew that she shouldn’t have any of those substances. There was no point. She hated that part of herself and didn’t want to unleash it on the world again. To be honest, that was only after three drinks. Yes she was a light weight. But what do you expect from a girl who only drank twice in her life and never had sex? She was a good girl virgin, a very rare and uncommon specimen nowadays. Like a unicorn almost, because those clearly existed. The blonde finally smiled at her sister’s text before putting her phone down and started reading once more.
“Hey.” She stated in almost a dead tone as she quickly finished the chapter she was on. Once Tegan found a good place to stop, she placed her bookmark there once more and turned her attention to her twin. Teag grinned at the other girl’s compliment, a slight blush forming on her cheeks. Tegan was really modest when it came to things like baking and other activities. She was an awesome housewife and cook, but she never wanted to boast about it. Then again she also wasn’t those low self-esteem girls that really didn’t think they were any good. She knew she was good, just didn’t feel the need to fish for compliments or boast about her talents. Those types of people were just plain annoying and Tegan really didn’t like them. She tolerated them, hell she tolerated everybody, but there were certain she just didn’t like. Not that she would do anything about it. Tegan was way too nice to voice her true opinions about a person or a situation. Which is why she didn’t express her disappoint in Dodger’s behavior or annoyances that her sister would rather party than do something responsible to help the family out.
And speaking of parties, that’s exactly where Dodger wanted to bond with her sister. That’s not exactly what Teag had in mind but she would have to take what she can get. Once again masking her hurt and disappointment from her sister, she grinned. “I’m up for a shindig! Should we bring anything? Like cookies or chips?” Tegan quickly got up and made her way to their cabinets. They didn’t have much, so the blonde was going to have to go to the store soon. The nicer twin knew it wasn’t going to be that kind of party where people bring fruit trays and sit around drinking wine and shit. But of course she had to ask, that’s who she was. Calling it a shindig was clearly a sign of how out of the party scene she was. “Get me ready? What’s wrong with what I’m wearing?” Tegan questioned looking down at her outfit; taking a small break from searching for snacks. She was wearing simple jeans and a light pink tank top with cherries on it. It was cute and practical. Why would she want to change out of it? But once again she wasn’t one to confront others about her feelings. “I think it’s cute…” she whispered softly to herself before turning back to the cabinets.

By now, Dodger know better than to try talking to Tegan while she was reading a book. Her sister could get so wrapped up in her own world. Of course, so could Dodger. Dodger's world just wasn't in a book. Yeah... Agree to disagre was practically a De Luca family motto. The two of them didn't have a whole lot in common, but they knew each other pretty damn well. Whether or not Tegan wanted to admit it, Dodger knew that she took pride in the compliment. She was a people pleaser (unlike Dodger) so it mattered to her whether or not someone liked her cookies. And it wasn't like Dodger was just saying she did to be nice. But.. we already covered Dodger's lack of cooking skills so lets move on to the next important topic of the day. parties.
“I’m up for a shindig! Should we bring anything? Like cookies or chips?” Times like these, it was hard to remember that the two of them were related... and that Tegan wasn't ripped straight out a 1950s magazine. "Nah, they'll have food there." Dodger didn't have one hundred percent evidence to back up that fact, but there was usually something edible around (granted, you never really knew what was in it).. On second thought, "Actually.. we have enough time. Why don't we stop for pizza first. My treat." She was pretty sure she had enough cash on her. And it would probably be better Tegan didn't try any 'special' anything... but she'd give her that warning after she convinced her that they should go. Either way, Dodger hadn't had actual food today, so they were stopping for pizza. Dodger really hadn't meant to offend her sister with the whole 'you need to change' comment, but Tegan was a lot more delicate then her and she could understand how that came off as kind of rude. "I think it's cute." "It is cute." Dodger agreed, smiling a little at her assuringly, "That's the problem. You don't want to look too cute.. It makes you look easy." Obviously, Dodger wasn't talking about 'easy' in the slutty sense. That, Tegan was not. But the outfit she had on made Tegan look like shed never been to a party before and didn't know what she was doing, and that made her easy in another sense. As much as Dodger wanted her sister too loosen up a little, and would have no problems id Tegan did decide to embrace a more wild life style.. she was not in the mood to spend her evening following her sister around threatening guys. (Duh guy were gonna think she was hot. I mean, they were related.) "You don't need to change all of it. Besides, you always liked dress up. I need to change too. You can pick it out for me if you want." She figured the thing would sound more appealing to Tegan if they turned it into a make over party. Totally fine by her, as long as they stayed in her closet. What kind of party didn’t have at least snacks? But it was the polite thing to do. Then again, Tegan’s version of a party is wine, barbecue, and everyone outside having nice-clean fun. She knew that there were other kinds of parties out there. The ones where innocent girls that look like her come out not so innocent. That’s probably what happened to Dodger. Not that she was judging her sister or anything, she loved her dearly despite her partying nature. She just hoped that Dodger wouldn’t drag her to that kind of party. Something she knew she shouldn’t have hope about. Tegan took pride in her innocence and virginity! She was a rare species nowadays, like a unicorn! Had she kissed a few boys? Yes, the girl wasn’t that innocent. She did have a dark side that was slightly more dangerous than Dodger’s normal attitude. And that dark side has caused her to do bad and stupid things. But luckily she has never crossed the sex line…yet.
“That would be most excellent!” Tegan cheered and then quickly added, “You don’t have to pay for me though. I’m sure I have some money laying around here.” Again the girl had no job. It was kind unspoken, but the girl was their stay-at-home mom. The blonde would LOVE to get a part-time job. Just to have something to do and meet new people. She liked people and she thought having a part-time job would be fun. It would be normal. Tegan longed for normality ever since they moved in with their vampire uncle. While her family’s history still intrigued her, she still wanted to be normal. But of course thanks to her and Dodger’s curiosity they were anything but normal. Not to mention Tegan had this plan back in high school, when they lived with their father in Louisiana. She would get a part-time job while in school. So she could help pay for some college. Then she would go to LSU, where she would find another job through the school until her junior year. When she would for sure have a major and be taking internships dealing with that major. That way once she graduated college she would have a better chance at a job that she wanted. Or something close to it. And if need be, she would do part-time school for her master’s degree. If her major required it. But of course that all went to shit within one night. So she had hoped that maybe if she got a part-time job here, she could attempt to get her plan back on track.
But Tegan wouldn’t do that, at least not right now. Not when her sister and her uncle needed her at home. Taking care of them. Family came first and then her desires. “Easy?” Tegan echoed and quickly made a confused look. She didn’t see the correlation between the two. Then again she didn’t go to these parties. She didn’t know anything about this kind of thing, so she shouldn’t question her sister’s judgment. Tegan had faith in her twin sister when it came to these things. Teag threw her sister a huge grin at the sound of dress up. Yes she liked the whole thing about dressing up. But she used to dress up as a princess or a pirate…because those two things were so similar. Well she could just imagine it as her being a bad ass princess. Or a modern day pirate. That would be really cool! And the thought of being able to pick Dodger’s outfit too was extremely entertaining to her. “Well then what are we waiting for?! To your closet!” Tegan sprang to her feet and smiled at her sister. She assumed that Dodger would only let her venture into her closet, there was no point in fighting that. Her twin did have some awesome clothes, just nothing Tegan would have worn before this occasion. Tegan walked into Dodger’s room, ignoring the mess, and went straight for the closet. She glanced at herself, then at Dodger, and then at the clothes. Well this was going to be more difficult than she thought. “Challenge accepted,” she muttered to herself and began shuffling through the items. Cleaning as she went because the woman couldn’t possibly leave things be.

Luckily, and kind of to Dodger's surprise, Tegan seemed really game for the whole thing after a few of her questions were covered. And even though Dodger would have to tone it down a bit and probably leave earlier than she'd been planning to, she was looking forward to the evening too. She grabbed a few more cookies off the tray and ate them while they talked. “You don’t have to pay for me though. I’m sure I have some money laying around here.” "It's fine, I want to!" Dodger definitely wasn't a candidate for any sister of the year awards but when she wasn't preoccupied with her own life she did try to do nice things for her sister and her uncle. "I cant cook so I need to make up for it once in a while." Tegan did the household things so when they went out it was Dodger's turn to cover them. Especially because it wasn't like they hung out often.. and that was generally her fault.
'Easy?' Tegan repeated, and Dodger knew she was basically trying to explain the color green to a blind person. "Easy.. like.. to take advantage of. You know." It was hard to explain, but Dodger had assumed the whole thing was common knowledge. Tegan looked innocent. She looked like someone who could be taken advantage of. Who would go along with whatever because she was too nice to say no. Dodger looked like someone who would punch you straight in the face if you tried to fuck with her. People didn't get Dodger drunk and in bed. If Dodger was going to do that stuff, she was doing it willingly. Hell, she was leading the actions. But her sister was naive and clueless and that made Dodger hesitant to leave her alone around people... but the girl needed to learn how to get out in the world eventually! Innocence was only cute up to a certain age and Tegan was quickly getting there.
They went to Dodger's room, which, was a mess. Per usual. It wasn't like she spent a whole lot of time there, and overall, she just wasn't a very neat and organized person. That was Tegan's thing. Which was obvious by the fact that she was putting things away as she took them out, something Dodger never bothered with- hence the clothing on her bed.. and the floor.. and the various other things scattered around the room. "Just leave it, it's not like it'll make a difference." Once day, when she had nothing to do, she'd shove everything back in her closet. Maybe she'd even get rid of some stuff because, she really had a lot of stuff. She pulled off the boots she'd been wearing and tossed them in the corner before jumping on her bed and facing her sister (who sort of looked like she was on an archaeological dig and was just ultimately very out of place) "See anything?"
