Gwen gave her a tight smile as she gave her a wave goodbye. It had been the vampire’s turn to close the restaurant, which was exactly exciting for Gwen. She liked being alone in the building at night. Sure she had to do late night counts and secure everything. But she got to be alone and in silence. Well in semi-silence. She did have this fancy new Ipod that she recently bought. PJ had showed her the one he bought a while ago and Gwen finally gave in and bought her own. The two were getting really sick of sharing the one Ipod. It wasn’t like their music taste differed greatly or anything, they would just want to use it at the same time. And sometimes Gwen would ‘forget’ to give it back, which annoyed PJ when he was trying to grade papers but couldn’t find his source of entertainment. Again, the brunette couldn’t figure out why her brother decided to be a teacher in this town…or in any other town really. Her brother did enjoy interacting with all people and such, hell it made it easy for PJ and Gwen to keep up with the times too. But PJ would hate grading things and all the paper work that came with the job. Gwen knew if PJ could he would never give out a single assignment or exam. But that wouldn’t go over well with that whole education system. A system Gwen quickly dropped the moment she realized she would have all eternity to live. So she worked in a diner instead…because that makes sense. Gwen adjusted her ear buds, pressed play on her Ipod before slipping it into her apron and grabbing her clipboard. She had waited for the other waitress to leave to do her counts. That way she could take her sweet time and be by herself for a while before she traveled on home. Gwen adjust the register so it would clock her out soon on its own. It was really no big deal to be working off the clock for her. All she was doing was counting things. Gwen walked to the back and opened up the safe. Counting the money was always the first thing on the list. Otherwise she would completely forget to lock the safe. It wasn’t like Gwen had a manager title or anything but her manager wanted her to, so she knew all the passwords to the safe and the computer. Gwen knew it was just a matter of time before she moved so she was going to try to get the promotion as fast as possible. It would look good on her resume. The same one she had to keep changing every ten years to keep up appearances. Luckily PJ knew how to forge school records for her so appearances were possible to keep up. The brunette quickly locked the safe once she was done counting the money; everything seemed right on track with all of that. And all of the cashiers’ drop bags were good, so none of the employees had stolen money today. Well that was a good thing. Gwen hated having to file police reports and talk to the stupid cops that had no idea what they were doing half the time. The female vampire began grabbing boxes off the shelves and counting all the items. She paused momentarily when her favorite song and quickly turned it up. The brunette was a vampire even if the music was blasting in her eyes she would still here someone come in the door. So raising the volume on her Ipod seemed absolutely harmless. Really. The vampire managed to get through all the stuff in the back pretty fast. She heard the little ding from the register saying she was clocked out. Now Gwen could technically slack and her boss couldn’t do anything about it. After all she was technically working off the clock. Gwen hummed the Luke Bryan song that played in her ears as she quickly counted all of the cold stuff. This whole counting and writing thing wasn’t taking long at all. That was probably because they were out of a lot of stuff and were scheduled for a truck in the morning. Sucks for whoever had to count that in the morning. Gwen went to the back office and turned on the computer. Gwen tapped her finger impatiently on the desk as the computer slowly lit up. Almost as a knee-jerk reaction Gwen inhaled sharply. The scent of death hit her nose. She was honestly shocked she noticed it at all, especially with the kitchen’s awful smell lingering next to her. Gwen slowly turned her music off and walked to the door. The scent was very familiar, it belonged to someone she knew. But Gwen didn’t remember telling anyone to come pick her up and she certainly didn’t remember anyone saying they were dropping by. “You do realize we’re closed right?” Gwen questioned with a slightly hostile tone. ~:~ HOW MANY WORDS:: 842 ~:~ JUST A FEW NOTES:: Gah!
