PJ had been searching for so long for that one person. The one person that he had truly fallen in love with. The one person he wanted to spend the rest of eternity with. Despite his sister’s pleas, he would not give up. He would keep searching. And so he did. PJ and his sister, Gwen, had moved from place to place. For the sake of appearances, obviously. But the places were the ones that held clues to his lost love. Gwen had given up on trying to deter him from his mission, so she just silently went along with everything. So they traveled from place to place. Always being a dead end, either the clue was false or Keisha had already left. The female was always one step ahead of him, whether she knew it or not. PJ had been living in Canada with Gwen when he heard a rumor about a pack heading to La Push. He didn’t think much of it until he heard the pack was being led by a blonde alpha. He knew it was her. Knew that it couldn’t be anybody else but her. No other female would lead such a pack around.
So he did some research on the area and found out that another pack resided in La Push. So for two vampires to move there would be a horrible judgment call. So he decided to move to the nearby town Forks. Luckily there was a teaching job at the local high school. He applied and was accepted immediately. Gwen was lucky to find a small job at the local diner. She had refused to do any bigger jobs for the sake of appearances. Plus it would be hard enough to explain a teacher randomly quitting when they need to move. Once they found a small house, the two got up and moved to Forks. It was an interesting move. The weather wasn’t much different from their Canadian home. But moving from a city to a small town was a big adjustment. At first PJ had been bored beyond reason in the small town. But as the school year went and his job became hectic he was no longer bored. And he started to enjoy the atmosphere of a small town.
Of course not long after they arrived did PJ start looking for that wolf pack. Being a vampire it was extremely difficult. For him to track any of them down. But one day, after visiting his sister at the local diner, he had run into a young male shifter. After some confusion and harsh words, mostly on the shifter’s part, PJ was able find out where his love was residing. At least the area. So he visited the area one day and caught site of her walking into a house, her house. Or so he assumed. PJ was so delighted that he was going to walk up to the house that day and talk to her once again. But he decided to wait it out for a couple of days. To get his thoughts together. So he did. Two days later he was standing on the front porch of that house. He took a deep breath, trying to collect some courage to knock on the door. After years and years of searching this is what he wanted, what he desired. Why was it so hard for him to go and get it? He shook himself lightly before finally knocking on the door. Here was his moment of truth.

been far away for far too long... I imprinted. Can you believe that!? Me! Of all people! I actually imprinted! It’s funny though. As fate would have it, it would only be the cruelest forms of punishment for me to imprint on him. On HIM! Of all the people in world, it really had to be him? What the hell? Why can’t for once I just be happy? Why can’t for once I have something that those stupid, arrogant, blood-sucking leeches can’t take away? Harsh? Yes. Do I care? Not so much. But how can I not? I have to care. Which is why I can’t believe I left. I left him… and left every piece of me behind without a single thought. That was the happiest I had been in years.
And yet, I just picked up and left… What the hell am I so freaking afraid of? What the hell am I running from? Is it happiness? Or is it the self-loathing of imprinting on a vampire? Or is it the complete destruction it would cause me to succumb to the awful creatures that killed my mother and father? Maybe it’s just everything. But PJ made me happy. And he isn’t like the rest of them. He doesn’t have eyes that glow as red as burning embers. Instead of humans, he feeds on animals. Just as I do. Well just as the wolf does… So really, how can we be so different? Why is it that the golden eyed vampires are our enemies, when they are really no different from us? Answers all left for the universe with no answer to fathom or ever to know… how I wish that was different.
My heart aches for him. Imprinting isn’t just a love you overcome or bad ending. It’s forever binding. Forever a lock on a cage. They are your gravity. And you will stop at nothing to ensure that they are safe. I go against all my instincts while doing this. Pete can tell how much it hurts, he can feel my pain. This is my only salvation.
This world is cruel and unrelenting. But it is only one world, one love… but can anyone have lives that are any more different? I finally found the man I want to spend the rest of eternity with. But we can never truly be together… He is a vampire… and I a wolf… But I love him.
So why can’t the world see?”
Slamming her journal shut, Keisha groaned and fell back against the pillows against her headboard. She managed to crack her head off of it at the same time, though that really didn’t seem to faze her in the slightest. Her icy grey eyes glared hard at the black hand-bound leather journal. She’d had that thing for a long time now. She used to stay up late some nights after she got Pete past his nightmares, just in case he had another one, and pass the time by writing. For a long time the entries were about revenge on the vampire that killed their parents. But after the one she had just been reading about her imprinting on a vampire… many of the page there-on-out held nothing but misery and heartache. She couldn’t help it. At least though, at the VERY bare minimum, it kept those thoughts separate from the ones she shared with Pete. She didn’t need to put him through her pain on top of her own.
PJ was however a reoccurring topic in her entries. Keisha couldn’t help it. Just when she thought she would be good with it, it came right back and bit her in the ass again. Some days, of course, were worse than others. For the most part though, she kept it well under control. But that was when she started to turn her emotional compass off. After she left PJ, Keisha became cold and closed off. To those wolves that came and went from her pack, they knew her as a distant and ruthless alpha. But she was a good one none the less, none would deny that. Of course they never knew why. How could they? If they ever found out, there would constantly be battles for the alpha position. Of course, most of them Keisha would win, she didn’t make it this far on good looks alone, but there were some that she wouldn’t be so lucky. Thankfully, though, mostly because her’s was a pack of wanderers, the members came and went, and more often than not, Keisha and Pete were lone wanderers.
But the pain still hadn’t stopped today. In fact, on this particular day, it was worse than what it had ever been. Keisha didn’t understand why. That’s what had enthralled her to even open up the journal in the first place. For some kind of comfort. For remembrance of why she left. Usually she could numb out the pain. Today, though, it was just too much. Grabbing the black journal, Keisha took it and threw it as hard as she could against the wall across from her bed. It cracked against the wall and fell to the floor with a loud thud. Luckily, no one was home to see her like this. She turned over snuggled up on her bed. Keisha didn’t know what to do or how to deal with this pain, but she didn’t dare shed a tear. She was much too strong for that.
Keisha started at her blank wall for what seemed like hours, letting the pain was over her time and time again. She definitely wasn’t expecting a knock on her door. She groaned in frustration. This was so not a good time. She was already in a bad place because of losing her imprint… she didn’t need Seth or Paul around to make it worse. That was definitely the last thing she needed. Honestly if it was one of them, she’d just go wolf and save herself the trouble. But instead she rolled herself out of bed and moved stiffly down the hall. She was still in pajama pants and a tank top, but she didn’t really care. Why should she anyway?
At the bottom step she paused for a minute, debating on whether or not to open the door at all. She could pretend she wasn’t home. Who would honestly know if she was or wasn’t? But then again she had come all the way downstairs from her nice warm bed so she might as well just open the door and get it done with. Sucking in a deep breath, she let it out in a heavy sigh, grabbing the doorknob at the same time. She twisted it and pulled it open. God, she was so not prepared for the site that met her eyes. There, standing on her porch, as if he had walked right out of her dreams and wishes, was her imprint. “PJ…” she whispered, though she knew very well he could hear her. “Is that really you?” Keisha reached out with a shaking hand and placed it carefully on his cheek.
She was elated. Somehow, he had managed to find her. Against all odds. Here he was. In the flesh and all. Still stuck in his twenties. Her icy grey eyes swept over him, she was too stunned to do anything else, taking in all the details she had forgotten over the long years of separation. All of a sudden, Keisha couldn’t stand it anymore. The floodgates burst wide open and her entire body was flooded with the emotions she had tried so hard to lock up all those years ago. Her eyes stung as tears started to come to her eyes, and she flung herself to him, locking her arms around him tight. Never wanting to let go. “I can’t believe your really here…” she whispered.
He was here, really actually here. She wasn’t dreaming, or fantasizing or any of that. She could actually feel him, cling to him. He was here. Right here with her in La Push. That last thought out breaks on everything. He was in La Push. Keisha pulled back only slightly, glancing nervously at the forest surrounding her house. “What the hell were you thinking showing up here!?” she asked. “Get inside, before someone from that other pack sees you and kills you. You are supposed to be on wolf territory!” she hissed at him. It was one of those things she did. She’d let the happiness come again later. For now though, his safety was first on the list. Vampires were forbidden to cross onto La Push lands. Luckily, at the very least she had the imprint rule on her side too. Of course, she wasn’t totally sure how that would match up to the other pack. For all she knew, they could be looking for any excuse to get rid of her and her pack. Either way, she wasn’t going to chance it when she had just gotten him back.

PJ had been waiting for years for this moment, his fingers twitched impatiently as she waited for that door to open. He didn’t know what was going to happen, how she was going to react. Would she yell at him? Would she embrace him? PJ knew Keisha wouldn’t cry for happiness, she wasn’t that type of girl. At least he didn’t think she would. So then what would she do? Probably smack him in the head with a notepad. No, that was something Gwen would do as a reaction. So what would Keisha do? Well PJ would find out momentarily. It was just a matter of time; he just needed to calm down. There was no need to get jumpy or be nervous. It was just Keisha, they loved each other.
“Keisha,” PJ muttered when the door opened to show the woman. “I hope its me, it would really suck otherwise.” Not the time to make jokes PJ! If Gwen was here that would have earned him a smack to the back of the head. He felt her shaky hand on his cheek. If his heart was alive, then it would be beating rapidly. Maybe even skipping a beat like in those corny movies. Just the mere touch of her made his whole eternity shine. He longer cared that he was a vampire. He was happy that he had lived long to just find her. It took years but he did it. He tracked her down. Here, in La Push Washington. The most random places on the planet. But hey, beggars can’t be choosers. She was here in front of him and that’s all that mattered.
The male vampire was surprised when she hugged him. Though he didn’t complain. He locked his stone arms around her. He didn’t want to let her go. He wanted to consume her, if it was all possible. So many years searching for her. So many lonely nights, listening to Gwen talk about how it wasn’t possible. Oh how he was going to tell his sister she was wrong. But that would wait for later. He had Keisha now and nothing would take her away again. Even if she had decided to leave him again, he wouldn’t allow it. Not unless she took him with. PJ took in the scent of her blonde hair. It smelled like outside, yet it was much more pleasant. The stench of her wolf didn’t bother him. It probably had something to do with the whole situation. A situation that should be nearly impossible. But it wasn’t. Again, not something PJ was about to complain about.
Suddenly the hug broke and she was practically yelling him. Though for a different reason then he thought. He glanced around him, what was there to be afraid of? The other pack? Probably. Though PJ haven’t ran into one of them yet. He wasn’t about to make that happen either. Then again, what about Keisha’s own pack. How would they react? He only met her brother in passing once. But now she was an alpha of her own pack. Oh, there situation just got a whole lot more complicated. But once again PJ didn’t care. They would figure it out as things happened. He was never going to lose her again. “Fine, fine, I’m coming in,” PJ stated, putting his hands in front of her. Trying to get her to calm down. It really was no big deal to the vampire. He was over two hundred years old; he could take a couple baby wolves. But if it would help Keisha calm down then he would listen and behave. He knew what it was like when someone didn’t listen to you.
The male vampire walked inside the small house and waited for Keisha to join him. Though he stood kind of awkwardly in the middle of the living room. What was he supposed to do? This wasn’t his house. This was hers. He was her guest, should he sit? Should he continue to stand? There were so many things this vampire was not prepared for in this moment. He just wanted to get passed seeing her. Holding her. Kissing her. Just being around her. Speaking of kissing her, PJ looked at her when she finally came into the house. With her tight green tank top and black pajama pants. The girl did not like to wear clothing. Again, something PJ was not going to complain about. The male vampire swiftly walked over to the female shifter. He lightly brushed some blonde hair out of her face.
It was horrible how long they had been apart. And now they were together. No words could describe how he felt. Which is why talking to her was nearly impossible to do right now. So he wasn’t going to talk to her. He was going to do the one thing he had been nearly dying to do since the day she left. Cupping her face, PJ laid his lips softly on hers. It was like fireworks went off in his brain. That moment in itself was worth all those lonely nights. It was worth all those dead ends. All those times his hopes were crushed. This moment was worth a thousand words to the vampire. And he didn’t use a single one of them. Call him a typical guy to want to get physical right away. But it was just one small kiss. A kiss that he was waiting for, for over a century. Any normal person would want to get physical right away too. Then again, any normal person wouldn’t have let her go. PJ broke the kiss and stared down at her. He was still cupping her face, gently as to not break her. He let her. He didn’t stop, didn’t go with her. He let her go. “I’m sorry,” he whispered as he slowly dropped his hands from her face.

Despite her being the happiest person on the face of the planet right now, she was completely fuming. Why would he come here? Of all the places, PJ had to follow her to La Push. Pretty much wolf capitol of the world. It was like he was holding a giant neon sign that said “Hey, Vampire lunch, come and get it.” Did he not care about his safety? Or did he just not care at all. On top of that, if a vampire showed up here, that other pack was bound to have a beef with her. That wouldn’t be good at all. Then again she didn’t really care, since her and that Paul kid hadn’t exactly hit it off too well. She looked out the front window to the woods surrounding her home. There was no one out there, but she was praying his scent was minor enough (especially with how many wolves were around) that he wouldn’t be picked up and followed here.
Heaving a sigh, and convinced that the coast was clear at least for now, Keisha turned, and made her way toward the living room where PJ had disappeared. After so long, he was finally within her reach. Looking at him now she couldn’t believe that she had gone so long without him. Why had she exactly? Well, it didn’t matter right now. She knew she would have to give a proper explanation of it sometime or another, but as for right now, it didn’t matter at all. Least that way she had a few moments to remember why she had left all those years ago. She leaned in the doorway of the living room for only the slightest of moments, drinking him in, and inhaling a deep breath. For whatever reason his vampire stench didn’t bug her all that much. As a matter of fact he didn’t really have one to her. Maybe that was just the imprint thing talking. Keisha didn’t know, and for that matter, she really didn’t care either.
She moved slowly into the living room, never once taking her eyes off of the vampire. Everything about this situation should have been wrong. Every single instinct within her should have been screaming about going into attack mode. But the imprint kept all that at bay. There was a never ending war raging internally within her over this situation. If it were anyone else it would have driven them mad. But it was Keisha. And she was probably about a crazy as you could get with everything that happened to her. Somehow she had come to terms with her imprint, managed to mute out the war since she couldn’t just get it to go away. It was worth it, to finally find someone like him. That she could actually love, even if ‘family issues’ got in the way sometimes. Keisha would deal with those in time. Wasn’t like she couldn’t after all.
The minute PJ moved, every instinct told her to flinch back, but she didn’t. Keisha stayed where she was, looking solemnly up at her imprint as he brushed a couple strands of her hair back and out of the way. For a moment, she got lost in his gorgeous golden eyes. But her entire world stopped spinning when his lips touched hers. Closing her eyes slowly, she let the cold marble like touch of his flesh mingle with the warmth of her own skin. The only thing that would ever be able to cool her always burning hot flesh. Keisha wanted the kiss, simple and sweet, to last forever. But the second that the thought crossed her mind, he pulled back. She looked at the ground as his hands fell away and she sucked in a deep breath at PJ’s words.
Taking a step back, Keisha raised her hands and cupped them around the back of her neck, somewhat out of frustration. “It’s alright, PJ,” |
she said, hushed in tone and regretting the words as they spilled over her lips. She took in a deep breath, and finally managed to get herself to look at the man in front of her. Her icy grey eyes studied his face. Even though he hadn’t changed a bit, she couldn’t believe how many detail she had actually forgotten. She wished the next moment wasn’t about to come, but she knew that it couldn’t be avoided for much longer. She moved around him, gesturing at the same time for him to follow, to the couch, folding her legs carefully underneath her as she fell to the cushions. Keisha sighed and put her hand to her forehead. “PJ, what are you doing here?” she asked. Here goes nothing. As if leaving and living without him once wasn’t enough, by the end of this discussion she may be forcing herself to do it again. How long this time? How many more years could she go fighting a battle that was never meant to be fought? There was nothing she could do anymore either. “How did you even manage to find me here?” she asked looking up at him. Keisha knew well that the journey she had set for him wasn’t easy, so it was a wonder he’d even managed to make it all the way to the end. Was it? Was it alright? PJ didn’t seem to think so. How could possibly be alright? They both knew how wrong this whole thing was. He was a vampire, she was a shifter. They shouldn’t have imprinted on each other. It should have been against the laws of nature. They were supposed to be mortal enemies. Something in their biological systems did not agree with each other. Yet here these two were, imprinted on each other. Like some form of freaks. Freaks among freaks. It was ridiculous how much PJ had told himself that he wasn’t in love with shifter. But it never worked. Lying was not his strong trait, especially lying to himself. PJ watched her reaction to the whole thing, his eyes following her to the couch. He slowly followed after her. That’s when reality set in once more, Keisha began those questions that he was so hoping they could avoid.
Honestly he didn’t know how he found her. He just went on a hunch about an alpha female moving from Canada to this whole in the universe. He remembered the day he moved in this place. How close he felt to her. Yet at the same time he felt so lost and defeated at that point. This was the last time he was going to go after a lead about her. He remembered the promise he made to Gwen…
‘Forks? Really? Of all places in the world, she’s in forks!’ Gwen had exclaimed in a high pitched manner that should have broke their windows to their new house.
‘I think she’s here,’ he stated, unpacking a few things for their living. They were lucky to find a move-in ready house. Especially since they didn’t have much on them while traveling. Made it easier to be nomads at this point.
‘You think?’ Between the tone and her eyes, PJ knew Gwen was livid with him. He lost track of how many places he had dragged her two over the past two hundred years. Each place more unbelievable than the next. Why would Keisha be in such ridiculous towns? Maybe this was just a test for him. Maybe he would find her in Romanian where they met. Like this was the test of his love and if he made it to the end, then they could be together. That was most likely not the case. ‘PJ, you have to stop this.”
Her tone had softened, but he knew what was coming next. A long lecture on letting things go. Like she supposedly did with that Tristan guy. But he knew she was right. He needed to let her go. There was no point in chasing after a dream. A memory. ‘This is the last place, I promise. If she’s not here, I promise the next place will be your pick.’
Gwen had wrapped her arms around him at that point. He wasn’t sure for comfort or for joy at his decision. He had leaned into her and sighed. He would never forget what she said next, ‘I’m just tired of seeing you disappointed.’ And he was getting tired of feeling that way too. That’s why he truly meant this promise to her this time around.
“Well it should be obvious why I’m here,” PJ stated trying not to sound sarcastic. Gwen was starting to rub off on him; he could feel it in his bones. Which meant he needed some serious detox from his sister. But obviously he was there to see her, no other reason. It didn’t bother him that he was literally inches away from starting an all-out war with the pack just down the street. Honestly, he didn’t care. He was just happy that he was there sitting on a couch next to Keisha. This moment could last forever for all he cared. Nothing else seemed to matter to him at this point. “I heard a rumor about a female alpha and her pack moving in to this area. I figured you were the only plausible female that could lead her own pack.” It honestly was the only reason he came to this place. Of course he didn’t tell Gwen that, she would surely have killed him for moving her to this place on a sheer whim. Of course they moved to much weirder and smaller places than this on less information. Something he always kept hidden from Gwen on the off chance that she might actually snap and burn him to a crisp one day.

Away from PJ, away from the truth that she imprinted on a vampire, away from her instincts, and away from all the pain it caused her. She had been trying for all these years to fill the hole she had gouged into her heart by leaving him. Of course, that had been pretty near impossible. You couldn’t just replace an imprint. It was never that simple with love, and an imprint was no different. It had taken all her strength and restless nights to muster up any kind of courage in order to leave. Of course, even then, it wasn’t that easy. Luckily for her, she was thankful that at least she had enough control to not think about what she had imprinted on when the rest of her pack could hear her. For months afterward though, the pain she had caused to herself was so intense that she had to change from her wolf form when she slept so Pete wouldn’t hear her dreams. More often than not, she had found out years later, he would awake in the middle of the night to find her withering and whimpering in pain and anguish on the forest floor. After countless nights like that, Keisha finally managed to get it under control. She locked the whole ordeal away tightly, every emotion she had didn’t matter to her, and they all went right into a little box at the back of her mind.
This, of course, had its own set of consequences. The transformation to a cool and almost emotionless girl started then. It took a few decades, but after meeting Devon and a lot of her other pack members, Keisha finally allowed herself to feel again. She thought that maybe she could learn to live with it, knowing full well she was never going to get over it. Of course, any chance she had of that was now completely defenestrated with him showing up here. Typical PJ. Right now she wouldn’t have it any other way.
She watched him carefully. Part of her really couldn’t believe he was sitting in her living room. It was some cruel dream, it just had to be. There was no way Fate would be this kind to her now. After her parents’ deaths, moving around, freezing her age, imprinting on a leech, going through the pain of leaving him… Yeah, she was pretty sure Fate just liked to fuck with her. But she wasn’t dreaming. PJ was actually sitting right next her. On her couch. In her living room. The whole idea was going to take a lot of getting used to. A lot. She couldn’t say enough how fine she was with it though. Actually, she even surprised herself. Keisha was weirdly okay with everything right now. The way of raging emotions inside her was completely normal of course. But she hadn’t broken down yet. Hadn’t let the full gravity of what was happening hit her yet. So, yeah, she was doing pretty well so far in her book.
Keisha couldn’t help but stare at him. He was gorgeous, and that wasn’t just the vampire thing either. He would have made a very sexy human (not like he wasn’t still sexy, but the bloodsucking part she could do without). She inhaled a quick breath and looked away, thankful he couldn’t read minds. Right now, her thoughts were so far in the gutter that even an X rated movie would be taking a risk in showing them. Keisha took another steadying breath as he spoke to her. Obvious in what way was the real question. But she ignored it for now. His voice was calm and soothing to the wild animal inside of her. It was weird; even the wolf loved the sound of his voice. She looked back up at him, wanting nothing more than to touch him, to feel his cool marble skin under her burning hot finger tips. Keisha sucked in a deep breath once more and held it, trying to reel in the runaway freight train of her thoughts. She was surprised she hadn’t just jumped him yet. “So you just came here? On a complete whim?” |
she asked him, completely taken aback. “You didn’t even know it was me for sure…” Keisha muttered this last bit under her breath. She couldn’t fathom taking a leap of faith like that. Okay well for him she would, but still. Leaning back against the couch, she looked solemnly at him. Keisha had no idea what to do next. What to say, what to think. She was clueless. There was one question that was flying around in her head, begging to be let out. Looking away, finally breaking the trance she was so obviously in, she trained her icy grey blue eyes on the ground. She sucked her bottom lips into her mouth and began to chew tenderly on it. Keisha wanted to ask this question, she needed to. But it would open a whole new can of worms. Was she really willing to go there? Really willing to ruin this moment? It would have to come up eventually, yes, but for right now, maybe she could just side step… “PJ, why did you go looking for me? Even after I left?” Keisha finally had to ask. Curiosity had gotten the better of her. She wanted to take back the words the second they tumbled from her mouth. When she finally looked up at him again it was all she could do to keep a straight face. Tears threatened her eyes, and her whole body wanted to shake. But she had to know. The imprint, the sheer love she had for what should’ve been her natural enemy, made her act the way she ws, the way she had all those decades ago. She left because she wanted to protect him. From something that may not have worked, something that would have gotten both of them killed. This imprint, this forbidden love, was almost like treason. That’s why the pack didn’t know, why they had never found out. The only one Keisha trusted enough was Pete. Her little brother had kept this a secret for as long as she had. Now there was a chance to rekindle the fire. Maybe, just maybe, there was the tiniest glimmer of hope for them. That glimmer would either thrive, or be completely diminished. It all rest solely on his answer. And part of Keisha really didn’t want to know it. [/div] ~:~ HOW MANY WORDS:: 1,088 ~:~ JUST A FEW NOTES:: read this while listening to Broken by Lifehouse!!! “Yes,” PJ answered simply. “I knew it was you. You are one of the two women I know that would be capable of leading a pack across the world.” Yes, Keisha and Gwen were the only two women PJ ever met that were capable of such a feat. It amazed him, truly. And since Gwen was with him that only meant Keisha was the female alpha he heard about. The two women in his life. They were similar in many ways. Strong, stubborn. Both willing to do anything for the ones they loved. Both scorned by what the hand of life dealt to them. Honestly there were very small and few differences between the two of them. But those differences meant the world to PJ, after all his mate was Keisha not Gwen. There was that huge difference in species between the two females. The same difference between PJ and Keisha, the reason they were in the position they were in. The reason PJ ran to every corner of the world to find this blonde wolf. She had run from him, from their situation. At least that’s what he assumed. Why else would she run from the one person she was meant to be with? There was no other explanation from why someone would run away from that. The exact opposite of what PJ did.
Some people run FROM events, situations…people. Others run TO all that. A person that runs TO something usually has a purpose or a reason. The purpose being a number of things. Confronting someone, changing their lives, following their loved ones. Trying to win something or someone back. A number of things could be behind it. PJ was obviously one of those that had the purpose to love driving him. The emotion that no one can explain. People have an idea of what love is, maybe a certain definition they think they can use to explain it. But lets be honest for second. Can you explain happiness? Can you explain sadness? Not in any clear definition, because it is different for everybody. No two people have the EXACT same definition for those things. Sure there is the webester dictionary and all those technical definitions. But that was written by someone at a desk; it was their job to define it. To find the meaning behind all of it. But there is no true meaning.
Its like the philosophical question what is the meaning behind life? Every person on the planet would give you a different answer. Because Jody’s meaning for living will be different of Bob’s meaning. Yes, PJ was throwing around random names, but he’s trying to get his point across here. There is no true meaning for something as abstract as life. Or love. There just isn’t. Love was a force that drove people to do ridiculous things. Like drag your moody sister across the world to find someone. Or to take in a very stubborn girl as your sister. Yes, even family and friend love was complicated. Usually people express those things as unbreakable bonds, that was how people defined that type of love. But it wasn’t that simple. What if that family scorned you to the point of no return, or did things to you that no one should go through. Things that nobody could forgive. That’s when bonds break, but the feeling of love and the care you have for the person never leaves. And of course love only intensifies when dealing with the love of your life.
No matter how much hurt and disappointment PJ went through he was still madly in love with Keisha. She was his mate, his forever mate. Something like that cannot be simply broken by her act of leaving. Which he showed by appearing on her front door in the middle of shifter territory. Lets be honest once more, no normal vampire would do that. At least not just to visit a friend or something as simple as that. No, they would have to be driven by a huge, mystical force. PJ sucked in a sharp and unneeded breathe when Keisha asked her question. It was pretty clear where the vampire stood on the whole love thing, so explaining it might not be as simple as someone would expect. ‘I love you,’ was not a statement that would suffice in this situation. His gold eyes traced over her features. He beautiful and breathtaking features. Her blonde hair that had a natural shine to it. Her legs, curves. All the things that could make his dead heart feel alive. Just being near her was enough for PJ.
“Because you left,” PJ finally explained after minute of silence. That statement meant everything, explained everything. “You were no longer there, no longer next to me. No longer down the street. You were gone.” He inhaled once more, he wasn’t saying this in a harsh or hurt tone. His voice was smooth and calm. “I went to every corner of the world looking for you because you left. And when you did, you took a part of me. A part I can’t live without. And believe me, I have lived a very long time to know what I can and can’t live without.” PJ smiled softly, suppressing the urge to reach out and grab her hands. Suppressing the growing urge to simply touch her. To let his world burst in front of his eyes the way he wanted it to. To have that part of him back. The part he was missing for two hundred or so years.
“Keisha,” he paused, her name getting stuck in his throat for a moment. “You are my mate, the one I’m destined to be with. Something like that doesn’t change because one of us leaves. It doesn’t change because we are different species. And I’m glad it doesn’t. To me you aren’t a shifter, you’re just a girl and I’m just a guy. Both of whom have dealt with horrible things in life and managed to come out on the other side. And manage to find love in the process.” The urge was too great; he reached out and lightly touched her hand. That simple gesture made PJ’s thoughts stop, his body tensing in place. “I just wanted to…” His eyebrows creased together as he tried to gather his thoughts once more. Dang, he had this whole speech planned out and everything. Where were his notecards when he needed them?! “You mean the world to me, I love you. Nothing will change that. You can leave again, and I will follow. I will never stop following you.”

been far away for far too long... It was true; no one else on earth could do what she and his sister did on a daily basis. Defy the odds, break the rules… make them up as she went. Keisha was definitely a sight to behold at times. The whole alpha thing, leading these shifters to a better place. And yet, Keisha didn’t care about any of that. So what she was probably the only female alpha on the planet? So what she kept her pack together across hundreds of countries? Keisha truthfully didn’t care about any of that. She had her brother, she had the pack that was now her family… she didn’t need anything else… Well, she liked to think she didn’t but there was one thing that she needed. The one thing sitting on the couch next to her. Keisha’s mind was reeling. Why did she have to open her stupid mouth? Why did she have to challenge everything that was right in front of her? Why didn’t she just apologize and ask if he could forgive her and never let her leave again? Because she was a stubborn bitch sometimes who had multiple things to take care of. Her pack came before everything else. Their protection, their safety. PJ was right up there with the pack, if not above them. She needed him save, protected, out of the way of anything that could take her from him. Namely, out of the way of her pack. Realistically speaking, her pack would have turned around and ripped him to shreds. And Keisha didn’t know what they would do to her. Having already been dumb enough to open her mouth, Keisha figured it couldn’t get much worse then what it was already. When he didn’t speak for a moment, Keisha held her breath. She was so afraid that he wouldn’t answer at all. But when his lips parted and he finally spoke, relief welled in her chest and coursed through her entire body. Yes she left, she looked up at him, listened carefully to his words. Part of her brain tried to memorize they way he spoke, how his voice sounded. She wanted nothing more than him in that moment. All over again she found herself falling right in love with him. Keisha watched as the corners of his mouth pulled up into a slight smile. She was partially surprised that he could even manage that. Keisha wasn’t sure what she could manage right now. As he continued, she heard her name get caught in his throat. With the words that followed her name her heart flew. For a moment, Keisha was back on cloud nine. Elated that her imprint was back, was near her once again. When he reached out and grabbed her hand, it was all she could do to keep her from stopping him right there. But all the same she crawled over to him, wrapping her hands around him and leaning carefully against him. His cold marble skin felt wonderful against her shockingly scolding skin. Keisha snuggled right up next to him, breathing in his scent. Though it was very much so vampire, it didn’t smell like a garbage dump like any other vampire did to her. It was musky, like the forest after a fresh rain, mixed with a spicy kick, almost like ginger or cinnamon, with just a hint of something wild she just couldn’t put her finger on. Her nose had to be defective in some way, but she was relatively sure that that was what the imprint was doing to her and her senses. Looking up at him, she tried to force herself to smile, but she just couldn’t manage it. “I love you too…” |
she answered softly, snuggling even closer to him, if that were at all possible. Her eyes searched the floor. She was completely elated that he had said that. He would follow her no matter what. Luckily, she wasn’t planning on going anywhere again anytime soon. Keisha was morbidly sure that she physically, emotionally, and mentally wouldn’t be able to pull off a stupid stunt like that every again in her life time. She sucked in a deep breath and pulled back a little. The words she was about to speak were going to sting, maybe even reopen a wound or two… but she had to say them. It would kill her if she never told him… “I’m sorry for leaving like I did…” she started quietly, her voice morbid and bland. “I did it to protect you, you know… from what I was, from my pack… We aren’t exactly supposed to be bffs… let alone fated to be together…” She pulled in a deep breath and looked at him. “PJ… you shouldn’t have come looking for me… don’t get me wrong, I’m glad you did… but… you’re in danger here…” She put on a small smile, but it was something just short of amusement. “And I know, you’re a big bad vamp and could take on the entire pack and all… but PJ, the other pack has numbers here… my blood ancestors… they will not hesitate to kill you, and probably me too… my pack has the age, theirs the force… both not without experience…” Sighing, she drew back even further looking at him through worried sad eyes. She wanted him to understand how dangerous this was. How much they were truly going to be putting on the line here. Leaning up, Keisha kissed him lightly on the cheek. “I just don’t know what will happen… and I don’t know what I would do if you were killed…” she muttered quietly. That was the reason… that just in itself. She would much rather have left knowing he was alive and well, even hating her, then trying to continue living knowing that he had disappeared from existence at the hands of her people. It was certainly a damned if you did and damned if you didn’t situation… but she had thought she had chosen the lesser of the two evils. Boy was she given a run for her money on that theory. In the end though… it had kept him safe… though he would have probably been even safer if he hadn’t come after her. But, hey, beggars can’t be choosers. What was worse? The entire time, all Keisha wanted was him. His body against hers, his lips on hers. She wanted to be as close as physically possible to him. Plus, she did have the house to herself. Minus… well, she didn’t know how much of the house would actually be standing by the time they were through. Not to mention now wasn’t exactly the time for such shenanigans. But the desire was more overbearing than anything else. Damn her primitive animalistic instincts! And you know what? Screw it to caution, and what was right and wrong about this entire situation. She and PJ were forever bonded, and if this all didn’t go well and today was their last day together, then she was going to get what she wanted. And realistically that was him. Reaching up, Keisha again laid her scorching hot hand on his icy cold cheek, turning his head to let her lips meet his. The fire broke loose inside her, and the she-wolf in her heart howled in approval. Everything felt so right, but in a way it was all too wrong. Of course, right now, Keisha didn’t care about anything else. Before he knew it she was crawling over to him and into his arms. His strong, cold arms wrapped around her petite body. He could feel the overwhelming warmth from her body soak into his. He let his body and arms conform to hers. Her extremely hot skin made him feel alive. For once he had body heat. Yes it wasn’t his, but it didn’t matter. His body now had heat. He took in her scent. And while normally a shifter scent makes me feel disgusting and dirty, her scent didn’t do that to him. She smelled like freshly cut grass mixed with something sweet like roses or lilies. PJ was absolutely in love with Keisha. He couldn’t imagine his life without her. He would love to stay like this for forever. In this moment, this position. PJ would be perfectly happily right here and now. PJ couldn’t help his smile from growing at her words. He wrapped his arms around her tighter, making sure not to break her. That would be awful, death by hug. Not that it hasn’t happened before to PJ. He tried hugging a bunny once, yea that didn’t go over too well. That’s why PJ doesn’t hug other creatures. Outside of his sister. The girl was a vampire, made of stone like him, making her nearly impossible to break in half. So he would really not have Keisha turn into that bunny. That would be awful and PJ wouldn’t know what to do with himself if something happened ot Keisha. Regardless if he caused her death or not. PJ would do anything to protect Keisha.
“Don’t apologize,” he murmured as he listened to her prattle on. It was the same song and dance as before. Nothing really changed in their situation. Okay well there was second pack that PJ had to look out for. Great, a second pack. But that didn’t matter to him. One might call him naïve. But PJ was a romantic. He believed that true love conquered all. Even after all the things he has seen in his life time, PJ will always think that love is above all else in the universe. This is why people think the man is naïve. Obviously love does not conquer all but PJ would rather not think about that. He believed their power would rule over all. That it didn’t matter if they faced a thousand wolf packs, in the end PJ was determined to be with Keisha. Love was the only thing that man lived for and he had it in his hands. He would be damned if he let it go.
“Exactly, Keisha, we defy all odds. We are supposed to be mortal enemies. But instead we are fated to be together. You can’t fight something like that. And something like that is not weak, something like that…I believe, can get through anything,” PJ paused and looked down at her, his face absent of a smile for once. “We can get through anything.” He stressed the ‘we’ in that statement. Because he really did think that the two of them could get through it all. The second pack didn’t’ scare him. And he was her imprint, there had to be some rule in her pack that made it impossible for them to kill him or hurt him. The other pack learned to live with vampires right across the forest from them. He was sure they could deal with him. It wasn’t like he was killing humans on their territory or anything like that. The only thing that would probably hate is that he would be feeding on their food. Animals. All the furry creatures out there. But he could learn to share. He was a kind soul like that.
He grinned down at her finally. “Just put in a good word for me with your pack…starting with your beta, right?” He had that right, right? That was how pack dynamics went, correct? Alpha, beta…delta, gamma, omega? Or was it just alpha, beta, omega? And all the others in between were just normal pack members. With no special titles. PJ was a history teacher. The material he studied never went over the dynamics of a shifter pack or even a normal wolf pack. He would have loved to study it all and learned more about it. Honestly he probably should have looked some stuff up before doing this whole interaction. But he wasn’t really thinking clearly when he found her. He just wanted to hold her and be with her. Not really thinking anything past that. Honestly he had been so busy trying to find her that he never actually thought about what would happen when he finally did find her. Which wasn’t a smart move on his part. His grin widened when she kissed his cheek. “We can cross that bridge when we get to it.” Another thing about PJ was his impulsive nature. Hence why he never thought things through. Nothing ever went according to plan anyways. If it did then PJ would be in love with a vampire. Actually PJ would have stayed human and married Maria, his fiancé. Or if he was supposed to be a vampire then maybe he would be in love with Gwen, since they got along so well. But no, he mated with a shifter. Which could be considered part of the universe plan. But lets be honest. Nothing every went according to plan. Plans were stupid. So the vampire lived in the moment. Which is why he didn’t think this whole thing through. He should have, but he didn’t. It would eventually be the death of him. But not today! Today he was alive and holding Keisha.
PJ had wanted to keep kissing Keisha this whole time. Really it was amazing his male brain could focus on anything else. He felt her hand on his cheeks. He froze as she laid her lips on his. It took a couple of seconds to realize that talking was over between the two of them. For good. Because now he could actually give into his male brain and totally jump her bones. Just saying. PJ pulled her closer to him, if that was possible at this point. One of his ice cold hand took hold of the back of her neck. Keeping her face there, not like she would probably move it away from him. His other hand slid under her shirt and up her smooth back. Her skin was so hot compared to his. It was a big contrast. The two of them. Fire and Ice. There was a famous poem about that out there. But PJ was clearly too preoccupied to think about it at the moment. Otherwise he would recite it to us. But now was not the time for that nonsense. PJ made the kiss more passionate. Again if that was possible at this point. The two of them were going to die tomorrow, PJ was not going to waste any time on four play or this talking nonsense. He would have kept talking if that’s what Keisha wanted to do but clearly that is not what she wanted to do. So neither did he.
