After her encounter with Josef, Devon was a bit confused about everything and kind of went on a search for reality. Her search landed her in a liquor store, yea not exactly the best place for someone like her to be. She had entered the store and managed to find a deal on wine bottles. She grabbed four of the shelf and went to the counter. Luckily for her, Devon knew how to make herself appear 21 and so her license was set for that exactly. Making it really easy to buy the bottle. Luckily she managed to have some money left over from her shopping spree. Though Keisha was going to be mad she spent her money on alcohol instead of the needed material, like food. But the shifters would live. They were capable of hunting for deer or animal of some sort. As long as Devon cooked it just right it wouldn’t matter to any of them. Hell they would even eat the meat raw.
Devon got in her car and immediately opened the first bottle, with her shifter body it took A LOT to get her drunk. So one bottle of wine would not affect her driving in the least. Again something Keish would get mad about if she ever found out. Which lets be honest she will because Devon was honest and never really kept anything from Keisha or her brother Pete. The female shifter carefully drove home so she wouldn’t get pulled over while she chugged the first bottle of wine. This bottle represented how her night went. Running into a vampire that could push her buttons so easily. A vampire that she was sure was going to end up as her friend. A red-eyed vampire. Out of all the beings Devon could make friends with, it had to be a red-eyed vampire. He was hot, she would admit, and funny. But her mind was having a hard time getting past the obvious. Hence the wine.
The female shifter was finished with the first bottle as she pulled into the driveway. Devon sat there as she stared out the window. Suddenly she was reflecting on everything in her life. Crinkling her nose up from annoyance, she rolled down her windows and turned her car off. Devon glared at the woods before opening up the second bottle. This bottle was for her new life. The new annoyances that came with it. Like her beta position and her annoying pack members. Okay so they weren’t that annoying and Devon did grow to care about all of them. But for the sake of drinking she focused on everything that angered her about the pack. Them being able to read her minds, the fact that almost every single one of them were imprinting on people. And she had to do so much for the dang pack. Devon really didn’t anticipate the responsibilities that came with being a beta of a pack.
Once the second bottle was completely gone, Devon would feel her head get slightly lighter. That’s the stuff. She tossed the bottle out the window and grabbed the third one. This one was for father and that awful pack that made her family omegas. Okay so she was born into that position but that didn’t mean they had to treat them like crap. She could still remember the teasing she received as a human, the social issues she through in high school. All the emotion turmoil she went through. Devon chugged this bottle, there was no room for her to stop. Most of it was gone before the scent of a fellow shifter hit her nose. “Aw, crap.” Devon chugged the rest of the bottle, and now she was drunk. Whoo!!!
Devon tossed the bottle out the window and stuck her head out of her car. “Hellooooooooooooooooooooo!!! I’m going to stay in my car for the night, okay? Okay! Glad we had this conversation!” Devon yelled out into the darkness. She was relatively sure the smell was coming from the house, and with the others being shifters and all they definitely heard her. Before any response was given, Devon grabbed the fourth bottle of wine and popped it open. This was just to finish everything off. Dev began to sip it as she opened her car door. Without much thinking or effort, Devon fell out of the car. A few drops of wine spilled out but somehow she managed to save most of it. Letting out an obnoxious laugh, Devon took more sips as half of her was on the ground and the other still in the car.

It was rare that there was a calm night in Forks. Of course, no matter what Pete loved the forest, the smells and sounds. The light chirping of birds, the softest cadence of rustling leaves. What was there not to love about it? He walked slowly, hands shoved deep in the pockets of his pants, just enjoying the night. There was a lot that was good about his life right now. For one, the fact that he was entirely alive. He was 198 years old, and still kicking it pretty damn good for himself. Another, he and his sister were finally back home. For what reason, he wasn’t entirely sure, but they were and he was fine with that. And finally, he had just recently imprinted on this wonderful girl. One who reminded him just what it was to act his age. Though sometimes it sucked to be stuck at seventeen, Willow made the whole thing that much more worth it. One big downside… they were pretty much completely broke. Pete was walking home from his job right now as a matter of fact. He had been the only one with any sort of income as it was for a good while when they came back. He knew Keisha was just starting out in her job, and Dev was likely to never actually get one, unless of course it was with makeup or in the mall or something. Either way, they were pretty short on the money, and needed whatever they could get to get by. This also included stealing. Though that was mainly Keisha’s expertise. The girl could get anything and everything she wanted to. It was nuts. And she refused to teach Pete anything more than the basics. Said she wanted some of his innocence to remain intact. Either way, he figured as the house came into view, they needed to get by somehow. And Keisha was looking out for them in every way she knew how. Walking up the drive, Pete realized that the car was gone too. Not that it was nice or anything, but Keisha fixed it up pretty nice and got a pretty good deal on the piece of junk it was before she got her hands on it. And that’s why she was working in a mechanics shop. Pete hurried his way up the front porch stairs and let himself into the house. It was dark inside, and he flicked on the light for the front porch. He kicked his shoes off on the matt at the front entrance. Both Keisha’s and Devon’s were missing. So they both must have been out. He walked down the hall a few steps, before walking into the living room off to his right. Pete didn’t even bother to turn on the light and just plopped himself down on the couch, sweeping up the remote at the same time. No sooner had he clicked on the TV then he saw headlights of a car hit some of the trees of the forest. He was hoping it was Keisha or Devon, probably Dev cause she never liked to walk anywhere, but he wasn’t entirely sure who it was either. Getting himself up he made his way slowly to the front door. Pete pulled back the curtain on the window, peeking out the window to the driveway. Up that was definitely their car. Noticing that the car was shut off already, Pete raised an eyebrow and pulled open the front door. He stepped out on to the porch with his arms crossed waiting for whoever it was (Devon by the scent) to come in. He heard the crack of the glass before he heard her voice. Pete rolled his eyes and shook his head. He was relatively sure she was drunk. Why? Well that wasn’t exactly sure. He’d figure that out later. Until then, her statement definitely was not going to fly tonight. Shaking his head, he walked down the steps and toward the car. He watched, a small smile of amusement on his lips, as she opened the car door and face planted on to the ground. He shook his head again as her approached, looking down at the beta who was hanging half in and half out of the car. “Oh, Dev, what are we going to do with you?” |
he asked and she let out a high pitched laugh, even for her. Pete didn’t know if she was laughing at him or just in general. Sighing, he knelt down beside her, grabbing one of her arms to help her up. Once he finally managed to get the poor girl on her feet, he helped her carefully out of the car, before kicking the door closed. He helped her slowly, and not without difficulty, to the porch and up the stairs and right inside. Pete closed the door behind him and led her to the living room, and directing her to the couch. He guided her gently to sit down first before sitting next to her and leaning back. He looked at the bottle in her hand, took it from her really quick and took a swig. Pete grinned and gave it back, once again shaking his head at the girl. “So, Dev, what exactly is the occasion for this huh?” he asked, turning his eyes to the TV, though he kept her in sight in the corner of his eye. He was going to watch her every move like a hawk, just in case. The best he could do was sit with her until Keisha got home and she passed out. Devon was unpredictable as it was, and her getting drunk was even worse sometimes. Well, at least he had something to do for the night. Though babysitting hadn’t been the first thing on his list. Devon had smelled Pete coming near her. She really did, but the scent of all the alcohol she consumed had overwhelmed her nose to the point where it threw her off a bit. When Pete knelt down by her, Devon suppressed the urge to let out a yelp, so she let out another high pitched laugh. “Pete! Petey! Petey-Pie! Aw, cute little Pete,” Devon stated her voice getting lower each time she had his name. The girl was out of her mind so naturally it took a couple seconds for his question to sink in. “What are you talking about?” Do with her? Devon wasn’t some child that you had to deal with. She wasn’t some burden. She was an awesome 100 year old shifter. Do with her? Pshaw. She wasn’t some burden. If she was sober, she would totally have smacked him for the question. How dare he! Dev slowly started to realize that Pete was attempting to move her.
“What? No, I’m fine in the car,” Devon whined, not really think that statement through. She wasn’t in the car, he found her on the ground. But in her drunken state it was all the same to her. Plus the ground was nice a cold against her hot skin that only seemed to get warmer every time she took another drink of her bottle. The beta decided to play dead with her limbs to make Pete’s life a little more difficult. If he was going to move her then she wasn’t going to make it easy. The girl was clinically insane right now, anything she does cannot be held against her. That’s the drunk friend rule, obviously. Though somehow Pete managed to get Devon in and on their couch successfully. Damn. And she thought she was doing so well trying to make his life difficult. Damn the male physical strength and his ninety-eight years he had on her. She would get back at him, eventually not now.
“Hey!” Devon exclaimed when Pete took her bottle and took a swig of it. Excuse me! That’s hers! Granted, she didn’t need any more of that in her system. She had enough to actually make her sick later. Usually the girl never got a hangover because of the whole shifter genes. But Devon was sure she would feel it this time. Nobody can drink four (maybe five) bottle of wine and not feel it. That was technically alcohol poisoning to the humans after all, so the shifter was bound to feel it. But right now she was just too dang upset that he took a sip of her drink. She snatched the bottle back rudely and quickly finished it off before he could try that again. Yea not the best idea on her part. But she didn’t feel like sharing any more of it. When Pete asked her motives behind drinking, Devon visibly tensed. She really didn’t want to explain what had happened with the red-eyed vamp. How she was terrified of him, but enjoyed it so much. She didn’t want to explain that she probably made friends with him. And she didn’t want to explain that it brought up old memories of her father being murdered, therefore triggered her to drink. Pete didn’t need to know any of that.
The beta shrugged and decided to just not say anything. It was Devon after all, in her pack mate’s eyes she didn’t really need a reason to drink. Really, the girl was becoming an alcoholic and didn’t really need a reason to drink. She did it just because on a normal basis. So why should this time be any different? Dev pretty much assumed he would be satisfied with that answer and not pry. “I’m hot,” she stated suddenly. The brunette thrust the empty bottle at the boy and stumbled to her feet. Once she managed to stand steady, she began to strip. Devon just threw her clothes about in the room, not really sure if she hit Pete or not with any of them. Once the girl was down to her underwear, she glanced around. Dev was pretty sure Pete wouldn’t be interested in her body, since well he had imprinted on someone already. But he was still a male, so one should not assume such a thing. Once again, she didn’t care. Devon was very free with her body in front of him. It was her house too technically. And she kind of viewed Pete as her little brother as well. So clearly nothing was going to happen.
Well that’s what her brain kept saying. Her hormones on the other hand couldn’t help but notice how attractive Pete was. Like, she never actually noticed before. Obviously he was attractive, he was a shifter. But she never really noticed the extent of his looks. It was like she gained a whole new perspective. But her sanity was telling her that she should not do anything because it was Keisha’s brother after all. “You are so awesome.” Okay, so she could not actually hold of a legitimate conversation right now. But she was very nice when she was like this.
