She had decided today to ramble around. Check out the trails at the farthest reaches of wolf territory. They had effectively put her right into the mountains. She was pleasantly surprised. There weren’t many people around, so she could take her time and just wander around a bit. Not to mention it was actually really beautiful up here. The breath she pulled in was thick with the smells of the forest. Rain, cedar and pine, wet grass… it soothed her so much. She had had to spend a lot more time in her human form since she was back in Forks. Of course she had made a couple of friends, ones she was actually starting to open up to… but it still wasn’t the same. Keisha just missed her wolf self.
Padding along the trail, her small paws left tiny marks in the soggy earth. She stopped for a moment and pondered that. She was probably one of the smaller wolves, hardly bigger then a large dog, if not the smallest. It made her seem delicate and vulnerable. In reality it made her all but either. She quick, light on her feet, and agile to an extreme. She could fit in smaller spaces that the other wolves that were bigger couldn’t. What’s more, she was a girl. Not many females had the wolf gene. She lucked out. Big time. She remembered her father used to tell her that it might not happen. Thank God it did. Keisha wasn’t exactly sure what she would’ve have done if it didn’t. But then again if it hadn’t happened, maybe she wouldn’t even be here now. She heaved a heavy sigh, and continued walking.
Letting her mind wander, she wondered what Pete was up too. He had said he was going into town… Keisha just hoped he wasn’t stealing anything. Her younger brother could have some pretty sticky fingers when he wanted to. And where did he learn that one, Keish? |
she thought sarcastically to herself. That was completely her fault. Most of what they owned was stolen. Still, what they had wasn’t much. But now Keisha and Pete had jobs, they were making their own money so they didn’t have to steal as often… But even then. Their paychecks barely got them food for the week. Keisha couldn’t let her mind linger long on that. She jumped off the path for a little while and walked under the cover of trees. She had this strange feeling, like something was coming. Keisha knew her feelings well enough to know not to ignore them. Dashing for the cover of a dense thicket, she jumped to soar over the branches, and changed back into a human mid-jump. She landed on her hands, letting her arms fold as she rolled, spreading out the shock of the land to a minimal scale. She quickly untied the clothes she had secured around her ankle. Shimming quickly into her shorts and bikini top, she cast her sharp eyes around quickly. Keisha could smell what was coming now. Well not so much what as who. It was another werewolf. She didn’t know his scent, but in a strange sense it seemed familiar. Racking her brain, she finally came up with why it was sort of familiar. Keisha had smelled it not all that long ago. Around her house too. Whoever it was must have been with a pack around here. Crap. That probably didn’t mean a good thing for Keisha or Pete. They were loners right now. Wanders, a pack in themselves, but more than willing to gain members. That was all. Besides, no way in hell would Keisha be pleased with taking orders from someone. She just hoped being a part of a pack wasn’t required. Either way, as the wolf got nearer, Keisha glanced up at the tree above her, picked a branch, and jumped. Then she swung herself up and over, watching the ground silently and carefully, hoping, praying that she wouldn’t have to give up her freedom. Seth had to be the peppiest and most energetic kid on the face of the earth. Paul was surprised he hadn’t found a way to silence the kid yet and he really doubted he could take another shift with him. Not to mention Sam was beginning to think it was a good idea to pair the two together. Sam said something along the lines of ‘them working well as a team’ but that was complete bullshit—more like ‘Paul gets pissed off so let’s keep amusing ourselves at his expense’. The shift couldn’t have ended soon enough and as soon as Paul and Seth were replaced by two other members of the pack, Paul headed in the opposite direction of their marked territory. He didn’t really have a specific place to go—he just wanted to get away and to relax for a while before going back to get food. He was starving, but if he didn’t wait long enough he’d have to deal with people.. and he hated people. People were morons.
As he got further into the woods, he enjoyed the silence for a good ten seconds before other voices started filling his mind. If there was one thing he hated about being in a pack, it was the telepathy thing. Sure, it was helpful and all but it really should have had a damn off switch. It was annoying to keep phasing back and forth because of the whole clothes issue and it wasn’t always worth phasing back to human form just to get the voices to go away. There was, however, something that convinced him to phase back that day. Paul’s hearing, which was overwhelmingly his strongest sense, picked up the sound of a tree moving. He’d have ignored it, but it sounded like someone was nearby—that the tree wasn’t just being moved by wind or some animal. People didn’t normally venture that far into the woods which left him very confused. He could tell by the sound and scent that it was not a vampire. Coming to the conclusion that it was safe enough for him to phase back, he did so, throwing his tattered shorts on quickly before proceeding to investigate.
He walked for a few minutes before reaching the area that the noise had come from. He would have missed her completely, but his bare foot snapped a branch on the forest floor, causing a few birds to fly up. He instinctively followed the birds with his eyes, causing him to see some girl in a tree. That was probably one of the weirdest things he’d ever seen considering he was pretty much in the middle of nowhere. He had half a mind to completely ignore her and to continue on his way to nowhere but then it occurred to him that leaving a human in the forest where there were leeches running around was a horrible idea. Plus, his pack members were idiots and if one of them were to be seen by her.. they could have problems.. and by problems he meant Sam getting pissed off and then taking it out on him. He looked at the girl with a raised eyebrow for a moment before realizing from her scent that she was a shifter.. except.. that was impossible. There weren’t other shifters around, and even if there were, the odds of one being a girl were second to none. This area’s taken. Okay, so it wasn’t really, but it was too close to Quileute territory than he was alright with.

At first none came. She moved herself easily toward the trunk of the tree, letting the dancing shadows of leaves fall over her, keeping her hidden from view. The forest around her was nearly noiseless. The only sounds made where the rustling trees, a bird call every now and again. Not to mention the sound of footsteps coming toward her. She listened carefully, determining if there was any possible way the stranger would walk past her, leaving her unnoticed. But she really didn’t think she was going to get that lucky. So instead, Keisha tried to determine who this stranger was. A wolf, obviously. Thank god. She might’ve died if it was a vampire. By the scent and the heaviness of the footfalls, it might be a male. Which was great. Just kidding. Males tended to be flightier shifters. At least all the ones she had met were. Not by much, but enough to make a difference. Aside from those two things though, she had no idea who this person was. Keisha hadn’t been back home long enough to really meet anyone. And since they’d left over 200 years ago, making friends wasn’t really her style.
As the stranger neared, Keisha was able to catch glimpses of him through the trees. He was probably only a little taller than she was, with a shock of black hair and the characteristic tanned skin of her father’s lineage. As he neared, she pressed herself back to the tree trunk. There was a chance he might miss her. Though she knew what she was wearing didn’t blend in well with her cover, she did know that from the ground, unless someone was looking for her, she would be tough to spot. Just as she thought she was in the clear, his foot landed squarely on a small stick. Keisha held in a groan as the silence was shatter by the flapping wing of what had been hiding birds. They flew off directly in front of Keisha’s hiding space, and she knew immediately there was nothing she could do about the man below her seeing her. She moved, but only slightly, on her branch to lean her shoulder against the trunk and throw her hip out a bit. Her freezing cold eyes watched him carefully for a moment and she crossed her arms across her chest defiantly. At his words though, her lips pulled into a cruel smirk. “Actually, I’m fairly certain that this is unclaimed territory,” she said, in an airy voice. The other pack’s boarder stopped a couple of yards back. She had made absolutely sure before moving back into her home. Now that they had moved in, technically, by right it was her territory. She planned to make it official starting now. And Pete wondered why she didn’t make friends easily.
Figuring it was no use to stay up in the tree; Keisha took a step back off the branch and fell for a moment. Her hands shot out and met the jagged bark of the branch just in time to swing herself down to the ground in front of the other shifter. On solid ground she placed her hands squarely on her hips and cocked her hip to the side. All the attitude in the world was so delicately shoved into her movements that one would have to be blind to not see it. A little bit of that came from the wolf. Over the years, the wolf had become such a habit that some traits carried over to Keisha’s human form. This week had been the longest she’d been as a human in years. The rest of the attitude came from her age stuck inside a 19 year old body. “And as far as territory goes, by the by, I am from around here originally,” |
she said. That same airy voice was back. She decided she would just say it was from her age and be done with it. She sighed suddenly and rolled her eyes. “But, alas, I suppose you do have your formalities, don’t you?” Keisha’s icy stare rolled over the other shifter. His muscles alone, were three times the size of her, but it didn’t seem to faze her. He also had a strange look on his face. The whole being a girl shifter thing usually earned a look like that. “You can stop looking at me like I have four heads, by the by. I know she-wolves are few but we aren’t just legends,” she added, tipping her chin up ever so slightly. It was her way of making a point that she wasn’t afraid of him. Or really of his pack for that matter. A sort out between herself and his alpha would have things right in a heart-beat. ooc: your template is awesome. love the colors.
She was a girl.. she was a shifter, and she had an attitude. Perfect—she was Leah Clearwater. They’d get along great. He really should have expected a not-so-pleasant response with how impolite his own greeting was, but to Paul no one ever had reason to give him attitude and it was never his fault. Not only was she sassy but she knew that where they currently spoke was unclaimed. That was bad—how many shifters were running around with her thinking that they could just settle down right there on the edge of the border? This girl made one too many.. Actually, I’m fairly certain that this is unclaimed territory. Well, someone’s been misinformed. He rolled his eyes, aggravated with how close she was and how he couldn’t do anything about it while she wasn’t close enough. You do realize you’re practically on top of Quileute borderlines, he said, suggesting that she was too close for comfort.
This girl’s body language was enough to piss him off. That wasn’t saying much, him being capable of exploding after dropping a pencil and all, but she was still being ridiculous. When she got down from the tree, Paul took a few steps back as if wanting to be a good distance away from her. He didn’t trust her—not in the least bit. He didn’t know if she had a pack somewhere ready to attack and he wasn’t about to underestimate her no matter how annoying she had already proven herself to him. And as far as territory goes, by the by, I am from around here originally. Yea? Usually when people kick you out, it’s a bad idea to go back. Okay, so it wasn’t all her fault that he was in such a bad mood and a lot of it was just coming from the week he’d just had but if you asked him, she was a good person to take it out on. But, alas, I suppose you do have your formalities, don’t you? You’re damn right. Nothing annoyed Paul more than a girl with an attitude who could dish out just as much as he could.
You can stop looking at me like I have four heads, by the by. I know she-wolves are few but we aren’t just legends. She was right in that he was surprised to see a female shifter. He was too aware of the fact that female shifters existed (-cough- Leah –cough-) but they were supposed to be like one every hundred years.. not two in the same area in Washington. Clearly. Had Sam talked to her, he’d have gone back to tell the guys that they were far enough away and to leave them be. He wasn’t exactly one to cause problems that really weren’t necessary. Paul on the other hand had a problem with her and he needed to find out how big that problem was. How many of you charming shifters are there? You don’t plan on moving anywhere from here, do you? That’d have just been too perfect.. unless the moving was toward La Push. That was not okay. Of course, if they were shifters, they’d know very well what land was going to welcome them and what land was claimed.

The other shifter must think she was actually 19. She didn’t realize, she played it that well. “Well this somebody lived on this land long before you did, sweetie,” |
she answered still laughing slightly. “You’re border stops yards back. Actually, at that pine tree to be exact,” she pointed at the trunk of the tree she was referring to, which was literally about 10 or 15 yards from where the two stood. She smiled sweetly, knowing that she was driving him absolutely nuts by being so close but still too far, and just her attitude alone was enough to make anyone crazy. “Being ‘on top’ of your pack’s land is a bit of an overstatement, now don’t you think?” she asked, sweet smile still right in place, but all the acid in the world dripping heavily from each word. She didn’t even flinch at his next statement. All Keisha did was widen her smile, and shrug. Kicked out? Ha! Little did he know. This was her territory rightfully. She knew that well. Her home was on the property, and now her pack. “You know, you’d be right… IF I had actually been kicked out in the first place,” she answered him. Though it being a bad idea to come back was highly debatable, there was no place like home after all. Besides, with her pack growing and currently scattered around the world, as an Alpha she realized it was her duty to slow down a bit and settle down. “As far as formalities go, consider this land claimed, since before I showed up it was unclaimed by wolves and vampires alike, alright?” she said with all the authority of an alpha, even though it wouldn’t work on him being from a different pack. Still it was an alpha thing; everything had to done with authority, she learned, because if it wasn’t, you weren’t going to be taken seriously. “And please feel free to let your Alpha know when you return to your pack that I request a meeting with him to lock in border lines, okay, sweetheart?” she added, slipping in the cutesy little remark at the end because it was sure to drive him wild. She rolled her eyes. Little did he know that her beta wolf was also a girl. Well that would be a pleasant surprise when he found out. Actually Keisha was kind of hoping she would be around for that meeting, it would be probably be entertaining. As far as pack members go, hell, she didn’t know herself. Keisha had plenty of members that had come and gone in the past two hundred years. “Let’s just say there a plenty more where I came from…” she answered, smirking slightly. “Some will be here, others won’t. That’s just how it goes.” She shrugged. She had opened it to the other shifters once she decided where she would be settling down at. They were free to come when they wanted, or stay where they were if that was more comfortable for them. She didn’t care. Either way, she would find the numbers where she got them. She dropped her hand from her hip and had gone to turn away. But the rest of his sentence made her turn back around. She looked at him oddly for a moment. “You really don’t make connections easily do you?” she asked, almost incredulously. She rolled her eyes again, and put one of her hands on her hip again, using the other to wave away her previous comment. “We’re staying here. Don’t worry about it. From your border here, to the abandoned house at the outskirts of the forest,” she said, airily. The abandoned home, HER home, had gained a pretty good rep for being abandoned, so she had found out. People also knew the house had been abandoned for hundreds of years at least. Obviously, this shifter hadn’t done much of his homework. But then again, her father hadn’t been a part of the Quileute pack back then either, mostly for marrying Keisha’s “pale face” mother. That was okay in her mind. Keisha got what she wanted as a wolf. Now she was home to reclaim her father’s territory. Now all that waited was for the connection between her and the abandoned house to be made by this other shifter. Of course. She didn’t know exactly how long that was going to take. For all she knew, she would be here all day. Well this somebody lived on this land long before you did, sweetie. Okay, she was crazy. He’d lived in La Push all his life and he hadn’t seen her around. There was no way she had lived there longer, nor did she have the authority to ‘sweetie’ him. He wasn’t twelve. If she wanted to go around pulling that card she could hang out with Seth. He’d put up with it. Somebody doesn’t like to show her face too often, then. And lay off the sweetie. I don’t answer to that shit. Well, it was a good thing they were being polite to one another because they wouldn’t want to have a bad first impression..
Your border stops yards back. Actually, at that pine tree to be exact. Shit. She wasn’t supposed to know that.. Paul barely knew that. How did she know that? He looked at her cautiously with resent. How do you know that? Being ‘on top’ of your pack’s land is a bit of an overstatement, now don’t you think? No, he didn’t think. What he did think was that she was too damn close to it, and that she knew that she was. She knew exactly how she was close and far enough away to drive him crazy. He could tell by the smile on her face, and he decided to let the comment go.
What annoyed Paul most about this girl was that she seem unphased by him. Nothing he said was getting to her-- like she was a stone wall that couldn't be broken through. I mean if he was going to try hard to outsmart her then he at least wanted the satisfaction of her showing some vulnerability. You know, you'd be right..IF I had actually been kicked out in the first place. Yanno, you are enjoying this, aren't you? It was clear to him that she was. She was enjoying knowing that he was confused about what she was saying. She wasn't making sense, she wasn't explaining herself, and he wasn't going to ask for clarification.
She knew where Paul's border ended and she knew what land was unclaimed. Newcomers didn't just know that unless.. You can't be an Alpha-- you're a girl, he muttered almost to himself, though loud enough to be understood. A female Alpha? Alphas tended to know borders and claims and such.. they could sense it. Paul wasn't exactly a sexist, but the idea of being inferior to a girl drove him insane, and he couldn't imagine her being his own Alpha. And then she mentioned talking to Sam. Heh, that would go well. Okay.. so it'd go a little better than her talking to him, but he wasn't so sure he wanted her talking to Sam. He's not interested. Call me sweetheart one more time.. This girl was really testing his patience.
So apparently there was a pack living in the area now.. that was great.. a bunch of people following her orders. The whole thing was just bullshit, really. Great-- I'm sure we'll all be great friends. Because great friends call each other idiots. Paul was stupid—that’s what she implied. Maybe some connections weren’t supposed to be made—maybe sometimes you weren’t supposed to pry. He didn’t end up needing to, because she decided to tell him straight up that they were staying there. And you’ll stay out of the way. It was more of a statement than a question, really.

This other shifter was… well, he was fun to play with. He got angered easily. Keisha didn’t understand exactly why. She was instigating a bit yes. But she wasn’t the one making him shoot flames from his eyes at her. He actually wasn’t all that bad. Just a little feisty. Keisha specialized in dealing with feisty pups. “Ever think that I moved away, a long time ago? Like I said, I was on this land long before you were. Never said I stayed though,” |
she answered, a little less joking when she said it and a little more serious now. But she shrugged. A small smirk slipped across her lips at his retort about her calling him ‘sweetie’. She let out a small laugh again. “Obviously…” she muttered, not bothering to point out that he had responded to it anyway. Smirking slightly, she watched as he swallowed that little bit of information. Keisha waited for a moment. In her pack, Keisha made sure her members knew the lines. Moving around so much, it made sure everything went smoothly, and there were very little confrontations when moving around. Here would be no different. “I know that because I’m smart!” Keisha said enthusiastically. She’d wait for him to figure it out. “I’m also extremely observant, but ya know.” She shrugged still smirking. She momentarily placed her hands back on her hips as she watched him for a moment. Keisha smiled at his next statement. She was actually enjoying his confusion. A little too much granted, but again he was kind of fun to play with him. She laughed lightly. It was pure this time, just an amused laugh. “Yeah, I am. Problem with that?” she asked, flicking him a smirk. Actually enjoying was a little understatement. Keisha was absolutely loving all this. She hadn’t done this in a very long time. Well she honestly really didn’t have to do much. All she had to do was dish out as much attitude as she dished for him. It was a lovely little trade off. The smirk across Keisha’s lips this time was beautiful and proved just how much pleasure she was getting from this sort of oblique torture. On the plus side though, she was really throwing him for a loop. She bowed to him, before looking up and smirking again, this time a bit more evilly. “I can be whatever I want to be sweetheart,” she said coolly, eyes icing over to match her voice. “Yeah, honey, I’m a female Alpha. Welcome to the new age!” she said, amusement dripping in her voice. Yeah, female shifters were rare, but being an Alpha wasn’t heard of. Keisha figured she may have been the only one out there. Luckily, she didn’t need the alpha gene to have already been in her body with the way her pack was created. Since she and her brother had been Wanders for years, they didn’t run under an established pack. When they found other wolves, Keisha extended a pact of protection. From that, the wolves that joined her as Wanders, whether they actually moved with her or not, were joined to her. From there she was elected as Alpha, and stepped into the title for them rather than herself. She smiled at the shifter boy standing in front of her. “He’s not interested in a female Alpha? Well, now I’m offended,” she said sarcastically, and smiling all the same. She shrugged at the last sentence. “Oh alright. No more name calling, I promise. You males can be so sensitive sometimes!” She laughed lightly again. The smile melted easily into a smirk. “I’m sure we will,” she said, crossing her arms across her chest. His second statement made her laugh. “I will do whatever I please. And so will my pack,” she said, easily. The only way they wouldn’t be able to do what they wanted was on this other pack’s land. And they had plenty of space now, so that wouldn’t be an issue. And it wasn’t like this shifter was going to be able to order them around. Keisha’s pack would mostly laugh in his face. Actually Dev would probably play with him like Keisha was, but still. She rolled her eyes and decided (though it was probably a little late) that she was going to extend the olive branch. She smiled sweetly at the other shifter. “You’re feisty, I like that,” she said, still smiling at him and holding her hand out for him to shake. “Of course, your temper could use a little bit of work. I’m Keisha, by the way. If you want to hate me properly, you should at least know that.” The strangest thing was, was that Keisha could actually see them getting along pretty well. Course it depended on the definition of ‘well’ in the sentence. Though she was sure that they would be going at it quite a bit if they had ever became friends. ooc: sorry for the long wait Keisha!
For the record, Keisha was instigating a lot. If you asked Paul, it was completely her fault that he was annoyed and that his anger was justified. She had no right to even be there, claimed territory or not. He didn’t like it. She was suggesting the idea that she had moved away a long time ago. Now she just wasn’t making sense. How long could she have possibly been living there before moving away? She didn’t look much older than he was and he’d been there his whole life. There was no way she had time on him. Mhm, blondie, you’ve clearly been here since birth, he retorted sarcastically, implying that she couldn’t have been born into the reservation with that physical appearance. This thought, of course, was very ignorant, but he didn’t understand the possibility of her being so much older than him. He had never met a shifter who was as experienced as she was and he didn’t even know it was possible to stop aging for so long. He had no knowledge to back himself up. Then she went and had an attitude over his response. The sweetie was one thing, now she was just being obnoxious. Obviously… He gave her an eye roll, not catching how she’d outsmarted him.
Because she was smart? He wasn’t buying it. If she’d recently moved back there, she had to be more than extremely observant to know where the borders were… unless she was an Alpha. That obviously wasn’t possible since she was a girl.. so.. she just didn’t make any sense and he’d already acknowledged that multiple times in the short time span they’d been talking. And all she’d managed to do in that time span was annoy the hell out of him. She even admitted to enjoying it. Yeah, I am. Problem with that? ’Course not—I love annoying assholes. Of course he had a problem with it! Was she insane? There was no point in reasoning with her because she had proven herself to be just as stubborn as he was.. and that was impressive. She gave off a clear sense of superiority, as if she believed herself to be above him and she wasn’t afraid to show it. It would have been more okay for her to be arrogant if she wasn’t able to throw out a comeback with everything he said. Nobody was supposed to do that. He was just supposed to win without giving it any effort.
And… there was no way. Female Alphas didn’t exist. It was rare enough to have a female shifter in the first place. I can be whatever I want to be sweetheart. The sound of the sweetheart leaving her lips yet another time tensed Paul up. His fists were clenched into a tight ball. You can be whatever the hell you want to be if you move your ass somewhere else, Princess. What the hell made her think she was so high and mighty compared to him? Carrying a very similar attitude, Paul wasn’t so great at getting along with people who shared her confidence. Paul had questions about how she managed to become an Alpha and where she had come from but his pride was too great to allow him to ask them. He didn’t want anything to do with her and he certainly didn’t want Sam getting involved with her because that meant potentially working together with her pack--which Paul was unwilling to put up with. He’s not interested in a female Alpha? Well, now I’m offended. It’s about time. The sooner she became legitimately offended the sooner she’d leave. No more name calling, I promise. He didn’t believe that for a second.
I am not sensitive. That made him sound weak, small, inferior. He was just about done with taking that vibe from her. It was the worst possible feeling to be continuously dealt. I’m sure we will. They weren’t going to. At most, Seth would tolerate them but Paul expected nothing more as far as the two groups getting along. Seth liked everyone so that was whatever. I will do whatever I please. And so will my pack. And you expect us to get along with that attitude? Hah. She was just so charming. You’re feisty, I like that. He gave her an exaggerated eye roll before watching her extend her hand. Staring at it as if it was a bomb, he was hesitant to meet his tensed-up hand with hers, though it did happen to his own surprise. With his giant hand in hers, he couldn’t help but think of how crazy she was for having the slightest belief that she could antagonize him. He shook her hand, a feeling of submissive defeat washing over him as he did so. Keisha—good to know. Paul, he offered back. And as they greeted one another formally, a strange feeling overcame him. Keisha was difficult, and obnoxious, and annoying.. and a challenge. He needed that challenge—he needed people like her.

So Keisha was instigating a hell of a lot more than she cared to admit. And she could tell he was completely and utterly pissed off at her. It was a great first impression in her opinion though. Ha! Yeah right, but either way, this guy was a kind of amusing to play around with. Not that she was usually so mean… well most of the time… but she was just genuinely having a bit of fun! It wasn’t her fault her idea and this guy’s idea of fun were two things entirely. Keisha smirked at him. Yeah yeah yeah. She’d heard it before, mostly when she was little. Her father married an English woman. Back then it was disgraceful, and she and Pete were often looked at with disgust. As of late, she’d even been called a vampire. Well, if only they knew her imprint. Of course, this particular shifter didn’t look like he would be able to stand to see a vampire in any sense of the term. But she retorted with the same response she did with anyone else, “Better check the pedigree. I’m sure you’ll find the Catori name was in the books centuries before you were even born.” |
Of course, she didn’t exactly mention that the name stopped with her and her brother either, but, if he was going to do the digging, he could just find that out for himself. Though Keisha kind figured at some point or another it would come down to age. That was always a particularly interesting conversation. To be completely honest, Keisha had no clue in the world as to why annoying this shifter was so fun. If it came down to a fight between the two of them (which if she kept it up could be a very good possibility at this point), Keisha had age and speed on him sure, but he was definitely more brute force than anything else. She could tell just by looking at the size of him as a human. He was that bulked up now, sure as hell he would be as a wolf. Annoying assholes. Keisha couldn’t help but chuckled. “Good, I love ‘em too, maybe that’s why I act so much like ‘em,” she answered with a smirk. God. She was just downright terrible this afternoon! There had to be a reason. Well there was, but eh. She had to get over it. It was no wonder she was throwing all this back at him. No matter how she was feeling though, she full on busted out in laughter when he called her ‘Princess’. Now that was actually legitamtely funny. If only he knew. Well actually, he was getting a pretty good taste of it right now. “Now Princess is definitely something I am not. Course if I was, I definitely wouldn’t be here, so I guess you’re SOL. My home is here, and unless you wanna try picking it up with your macho-ness, it ain’t goin’ no where,” she answered, finally done laughing. But it was true. There was no way in hell she was moving… Especially when she just made a new friend! Keisha just shook her head and rolled her eyes. “Oh chill. I said males can be so sensitive sometimes. Not just you. Believe me, I’ve met people a hell of a lot more sensitive then you,” she said, small smirk in place. Keisha then shrugged and added, “Then again, you may wanna try sensitive. Girls love it. But all the same I’m sure we’ll get along smashingly!” She couldn’t help be act like this. Keisha was really the one who was super feisty today. Definitely rattling the bars on her cage. Being home in a small town was still definitely going to take a lot of getting used to. Not like she didn’t adapt well, she had to with all the moving around, it was just that being home brought back a lot of memories that she really just wished would stay buried deep in the blackest corners of her mind. Holding her hand out, she was actually extremely surprised he even took it at all. Compared to her, his hand was enormous, completely encasing hers, but the heat from his body was hardly noticeable with her own. It just came to show how similar they were. From bloodline to attitude. That was probably why Keisha was having so much fun with this. He was a lot like her, and she generally didn’t do it that often. She had a pack to run so things like this weren’t an option for her. Dev was the closest in the pack to him, and Keisha just didn’t go there with her, mainly for the fact that her and Dev were more like sisters than anything else. Mentioning his name, it was obvious that he wasn’t exactly pleased with himself. Keisha gave him a genuine little half smile. “It’s nice to meet you, Paul,” she answered, nodding at him. Her smile widened slightly and she let out a short laugh as she retracted her hand. “I apologize, formally, for being so nasty. I’ve had a long first couple days back, and I’m still trying to get used to being human again. But you do make it a little too easy.” She shrugged, still smiling, and crossed her arms. He could take it for what it was. Honestly though, she could see the two of them getting along, in their own demented I’m-going-to-insult-you-every-chance-I-get sort of way. Keisha was up for it… it was just a matter if he was or not. Sighing she raised her arms over her head to stretch, keeping him in the corner of her eye as she did so. “So if you don’t mind my asking, do you greet all your visitors like that? Or am I just a special case?” she asked, throwing him a smirk. Keisha just wanted to know, he was quite the welcoming committee after all. Better check the pedigree. I’m sure you’ll find the Catori name was in the books centuries before you were even born. That angered him to a great extent. Shifters were proud of their heritage and territory claims. It wasn’t cool to just come in and be all ‘I’m new but my family got here first so step aside’. Maybe she did actually have a right to be there, but Paul didn’t like it. He took in the comment, red in his face as he did so. Catori? Doesn’t ring a bell. There was a possibility that the name was well-known in the area and Paul just didn’t pay enough attention to know that, but he preferred to believe that it just wasn’t known. And as much as he had made up his mind about hating this girl and all associated with her (unbeknownst to him he’d soon meet and get along with Devon), he almost enjoyed the challenge. This new pack would give him something to do and something to complain about and someone to yell at. He’d never admit such a thing to Keisha, but the thought of future arguments between the two packs brought a smirk to his face. She’d be quite the challenge—she didn’t seem to be phased by insults. It wasn’t even like he was sugar-coating. His insults were blunt and clear and she didn’t let them get the best of her. They didn’t bother her. Good, I love ‘em too, maybe that’s why I act so much like ‘em. She was so clever. Pretty sure it’s more self-initiated. Give yourself more credit. No need to blame other assholes for your own shitty attitude. Paul’s was his own and he was proud of it.. probably too proud. Keisha seemed confident enough with herself though, laughing at any attempt he’d had at being rude. Whatever. Stay. We won’t be welcoming and we’re not interested in making friends. When he said ‘we’, he really just meant himself but the ‘we’ sounded more intimidating. I said males can be so sensitive sometimes. Not just you. What the hell was she doing—was she trying to make him feel better about himself or something? Paul wasn’t interested in being sensitive. Then again, you may wanna try sensitive. Girls love it. Going to Keisha for girl advice was the last thing Paul would ever do. He didn’t need it from anyone let alone her. He was doing just fine on his own in that department. I’m not sensitive, and the only girl whose opinion matters seems to be fine and dandy with that, thanks. The ‘thanks’ was backed with a whole lot of sarcasm that he couldn’t really hold back as she’d touched a nerve. But all the same I’m sure we’ll get along smashingly! Did she even know what that word meant? Because ‘smashingly’ didn’t seem to describe how they were talking to each other at the moment. Yea, I’m sure. She really thought this would work out. Maybe she got the same amusement out of him that he slightly got from her. It’s nice to meet you, Paul. Yea, he was sure it was. She was so damn headstrong… it was evident in the way she spoke, and how she stood. Then she apologized, however, which Paul honestly did not expect at all. Skipping the whole ‘hug and make up’ part of the conversation, he shrugged and nodded stubbornly. As she began to stretch, he pulled himself up onto a tree branch, basically inviting himself to stay on the property for a while. In the future it wasn’t like he had any plans to warn Keisha before showing up anyway. If he needed her for something he’d have no problems with appearing without warning. He’d make sure he was like a fly she couldn’t get rid of… as long as he could stand it. Do you greet all your visitors like that? Or am I just a special case? Don’t flatter yourself. He smirked again. Me? Every intruder gets the same treatment. Kinda depends on who you meet first. If it was Seth who had seen her, the conversation obviously would have gone down a whole different way.
