Jared had decided to spend the day with his buddy Jake; he was bored and knew the other would be available. With everything going on it was Jared’s duty as a pack member to get Jake’s mind off of things. Though this shifter sometimes made things worse but he was determined to help his buddy out. Plus hanging out with Jacob was a lot better than sitting at home bored out of his mind. Which was the only thing Jared really had planned for the day. So bothering dearest Jake would be so much better. Jared quickly grabbed a pair of shorts before leaving his house. With his abnormal body heat, clothes were bothersome and weren’t really necessary to keep him warm. So whenever he was hanging out with a pack member, he wore next to no clothing. Future stripper right here!
Jared stepped out on his small porch and soaked in the morning sun. It was very rare for La Push to have this nice of weather out. Hell would freeze over before Jared let it slip away without doing something for the day. It was so beautiful outside. He had to resist the urge to shift and ultimately rip one of his few shorts. Jared quickly sprinted through the back forests. It would be easier to reach Jake’s house from the streets but the forest was so much better. And with his superior eye sight he was able to make his way through the forest without much effort.
The shifter could always see what Kim was up to. She was his imprintee and due to the situation, Jared wanted to consume himself within her. He wanted to always be around her, to make her happy twenty-four seven. But Jared knew it was healthy to hang out with other people on occasion. He didn’t want to be one those couples that only hung out with each other. No matter how uncommon his situation was. No matter how much he wanted to just be around her. Jared didn’t have to be in contact with Kim, just being around her made him a happy, happy man. Jared could not imagine what Embry or Jake was going through not having an imprint. It was an awful image of what his life would be without Kim. Absolutely awful and lonely.
Jared could see the Black’s house come into view. Finally he had reached his destination. Jared paused for a moment, maybe he should try calling for the boy from outside. Though that wouldn’t be any good since shifters had a tendency to be hard sleepers, at least Jared was. So he was going to approach this the way anybody would approach him. He slammed the back door opened, knowing very well that it was unlocked. There was little use of locks for the pack families, especially those that knew about everything. The shifters always walked in and out of each other’s houses. They weren’t ever considered guests, they were family. And family members weren’t guests. “Yo, Jake! Get your butt up, we’re going on an adventure!” Jared shouted throughout the house as he made his way to Jacob’s room.

Well, somewhat peacefully anyway. The dream he was currently having wasn’t exactly the most peaceful thing ever though. He was standing in the middle of a clearing. The entire area was still. Completely and utterly still. It was strange, and it made Jake’s hair stand on end. Truthfully, it really just freaked him the hell out. He felt completely alone. As if he was the only one left on the face of the earth. Then the wind shifted so suddenly it took his breath away. The forest was suddenly alive with… well, he wasn’t exactly sure. Jacob kept turning his head, trying to find how the sudden wind had picked up. Or where it had come from… or what (because it felt like something terrible) had made it change so suddenly.
All of a sudden, just as suddenly as everything had started, it stopped. Like the calm before the storm. Jake turned, fear starting to ebb its way into his core. He came to a quick stop when he smelled something sweet. Like roses and lavender, and all good things rolled into one. The smell of a human. The smell of Bella. Before he knew what he was actually doing, he was running as fast as he could through the forest. The smell was fading fast, turning rancid. Decaying. Jake pushed himself on as fast as he could. Only seconds later, he broke through the underbrush only to find the source of the smell. Bella’s decaying body. Jake’s entire core went numb, he couldn’t move, couldn’t think… couldn’t breathe. The body looked thin, like it had been sucked dry of blood…
The door of his house slamming open woke Jake immediately. Shooting straight up in bed, he sat still for a moment, panting heavily. He ran a hand through his hair before glancing at his bedroom door. What the hell was that dream about? Jake had no idea. It was strange, and had felt very, very, VERY real. And that scared the ever living hell out of him. He rolled his eyes at Jared’s voice floating through the entire house. “You know, Jared, you could learn to knock!” |
he yelled back at him, finally getting himself together even though he was still a little shaken. He rolled out of bed so he could change, ruffling stuff around on his floor to find a clean pair of shorts. Finally finding some, he pulled them on really quick before starting his search for a shirt. After a moment of looking, he decided to just give up and opened his bedroom door to meet Jared in the hall. Groaning and running a hand through his hair again, he shot a deathly glare at Jared before walking past him. At the same time, he shoved the other shifter playfully into the wall. “What’s with waking me up like that? Couldn’t call first?” he asked, continuing down the hall and into his tiny kitchen. He moved easily to the refrigerator, stomach aching and growling all the way. The whole shifter thing made him completely starving. One more thing added to the list of things he hated. Not that he didn’t love food, because he did, he was a guy after. But the sheer amount that he consumed on a daily basis was disgusting. Grabbing some leftover pieces of ham from the night before, Jake slammed the fridge door shut and turned to look at Jared. Stuffing the pieces of food into his mouth (at least it was one at a time) he turned back to look at his pack mate and friend. Truthfully the two hadn’t been super close to start with. Jared had been one of the first to change after Sam, right about the same time Paul did, so the three of them had been super tight. Jake used to just think that their inflated egos made the three of them think that they ran the place, but that was before he knew anything really. It wasn’t until after the change that Jake and Jared actually got a bit closer. The other guy wasn’t nearly all that bad, and he really tried his hardest (especially for Jake, Embry, Leah, and Seth) to keep his thoughts about his imprint to himself. Thank god really. Jake heard enough of that from Sam and Paul alone. He was thankful though too because at the very least, Jared also tried (though he really couldn’t most of the time) to sympathize with Jake that the girl he loved had gone off with a leech. Of course Jared usually gave up pretty quick, but it was the thought that counted. Looking at him now though, Jake didn’t really care about any of that. He just wanted to know what Jared was doing waking him up so dang early granted it was almost 11:30 but still. “So what kind of ‘grand’ adventure did you have in mind that couldn’t have waited until I actually woke up?” Jake asked the other boy coolly. He was not about to let Jared get away with waking him up that easily. [/div] Every time I close my eyes My dreams are haunted

Jared was so excited to wake Jake up. It was part of his obnoxious behavior, he enjoys waking people up. Especially angst teenagers. It was fun to him, seeing their faces. Hearing them yell his name in a nonsexual way. Oh yes, so much fun. Jared was a crazy, crazy male shifter. He liked to live dangerously, gamble with his life. And what was more dangerous than a teenage shifter being rudely woken up? Nothing, I tell you! Except maybe a woman during that special time. That was always a fun time for Jared with Kim though; he was an irritating person at times. And he was worse during the mornings and days that end in ‘day’. See what he did there? Wink, wink. Okay, so maybe he was being overly obnoxious today for some odd reason. But his fellow pack member would just have to learn to deal with it for the day. It wasn’t like he could get rid of Jared, they were in a pack together after all. Pack mates for life, ya!
Jared grinned when he heard Jake’s angry voice from down the hall. “Why? The door was unlocked!” he exclaimed. It made complete sense to him. If the door is unlocked then there is no point to knocking. Because clearly if they wanted a person to knock and wait outside then the door should be locked. An unlocked door pretty much was an invitation inside the home. Maybe he shouldn’t have been so loud about it but hey it’s not his fault the Blacks don’t’ lock their doors anymore. You know, creepy people still walk around these small towns. Like creepy new shifters. And vampires. Oh, vampires! Those dudes are creepy and weird! They drain humans of their blood! And have those glowing red eyes. And sparkle in the sun! What was up with that?! You know in the legends they are supposed to burn and turn into ash in direct sunlight. Not shine and glitter. Especially not glitter! That’s why shifters were so much better!
Jacob finally emerged from his bedroom and rudely shoved Jared into a wall. Rude, good sir! Rude! Jared lightly chuckled at his fellow pack member. "Again, why? That would just be a waste of my time and yours,” Jared stated simply and then added, “Besides you would just ignore the phone.” The male shifter watched as his pack member practically devoured the ham. Being a boy you had a hardy appetite. And that only grew when being a shifter. Their appetite was truly a marvelous thing. Jared could eat everything in his sight if he wanted to, just for the heck of it. Even if the boy wasn’t necessarily hungry, he could still eat. Poor Emily and Rachel. They were practically dubbed the pack chefs. They had to cook for all of them hungry werewolves. How they managed to keep up with it was beyond Jared’s comprehension. They must have been rich or something, always having money on hand to buy all that food. Not to mention a vast knowledge of the culinary arts, because half of the dishes they made Jared never saw before in his life. He was a growing teenage boy, the most he ate was from fast food places and pizza joints. But ever since he joined the pack, it has been nothing but home cooked meals. Something to keep them fit and strong no doubt.
“It’s 11:30! If I waited any longer the sun would have gone down and the whole day would be wasted. You should be glad I woke you from your slumber so you can enjoy the outside world!” Seriously! Half of the day has gone by and he wasted it by sleeping soundlessly in his bed. Okay so maybe Jared was an extreme morning/day person. Though he loved night time too! Okay so Jared liked any time of the day he was awake. Just being alive made Jared feel…well alive! He an obnoxious optimistic person, probably the most annoying being on the planet. But hey, his pack members still loved him. Well he pretty much assumed that they loved him because they haven’t kill him yet. And that was love right? Not killing the person who annoys you because you love them. Yes, that’s how it goes! Pshaw, and people thought Jared was just a pretty face. Please, he had brains too…sometimes.
“The adventure is a surprise! Duh! You shall see!” Jared exclaimed as he grabbed the rest of the ham and tossed it back into the refrigerator before Jacob could finish it. No more distractions! The boys were going on an adventure. What that adventure was? Well Jared had no clue. Anything he could think of at the last minute. The only goal of today was to get Jacob’s mind off of Bella and the leech with the big hair. Honestly Jacob was going to be better off once she turns and leaves. Or dies first. Yea the boy will be a wreck at first but at least he will have time to heal and move on. And then he can swoon over another girl that will no doubt fall in love with his charms. Or run off with another leech, since there seems to be a copious amount of those running around lately.

Seriously? That didn’t even make sense in their illogical world. He had watched way too many horror movies to think otherwise. Typically, if the door is unlocked, you turn around and run – very fast – in the opposite direction. That’s just how it went. Unless of course you wanted to get killed. Which apparently Jared did. Course it wasn’t going to be a ghost or anything that killed him. Oh no. It was going to be Jake. And honestly, the jail time thing might be worth it at this point. Especially since the older boy decided to wake Jake up. “It’s just the principle, Jared,” |
he groaned, more to himself then anything, but it was likely the other shifter heard him anyway. Jake continued to mutter under his breath, “Manners aren’t completely dead anyway, you know.” Course, nothing was ever going to change. It was a pack thing now to barge in on each other’s houses. Mainly due to trying to exact revenge, but that entire idea backfired and now you have circles like this running around just barging randomly into other people’s houses and for no reason what so ever. Jake tended to get highly irritated by it. All he could do was just shake his head. Jake honestly didn’t know how to handle Jared at this moment in time. The poor kid was sleep deprived and exhausted. His temper was on a very short and thin leash right now. “Even, if I didn’t answer, it at least would have woken me up!” he snapped back. As exhausted as he was, that was Jake’s number one issue. Once he was up, he was up. No ands, ifs, or buts about it. It was the crappiest thing when it came right down to it. And as of late, it was definitely a curse. He didn’t know exactly how much longer he could continue pushing his body to doing these things. Honestly, Jake was no doctor or anything, but he was pretty sure he was close to dropping dead of pure exhaustion. At Jared’s mini ramble about the day being wasted, Jake just stopped and looked at him. “That’s kind of the point, Jared! Sam kept me freaking out all night! AGAIN! At the very least, some sleep would be nice!” he answered incredulously. “I saw enough of the outside world last night while I was wonder around in the woods!” Yes. He was really having this conversation right now. With a pack mate that could at least be empathetic. Course, Jake was one hundred and ninety percent sure Jared had gotten a full night’s rest. To be honest, that really explained a hell of a lot. Aw hell no! There was no way Jared had just taken his food. Jake was starving. No surprise there. And Jared thought he could just waltz in, wake him up, and then take his food from him? Hell no. No way in hell as a matter of fact. Jake glared hard at his packmate, opened the fridge back up and pulled out the ham again to continue eating it. He raised his eyebrows at Jared’s surprise statement. Anything that was a surprise, usually meant he had no idea what in the hell he was doing. Jake snorted as he continued to eat his food. “Surprise?” he asked, almost bored with the idea of it, but he raised his eyebrows at Jared anyway. “You have no idea what we’re going to do, do you?” Jake was certainly not in the mood today. No doubt Jared would probably find something fun or interesting to do, but Jake was tired and cranky from being woken up, so right now was certainly not a good time. Of course the other reason Jared had come over to bug the ever living hell out of him was because of Bella. The entire pack wanted Jake over the leech girl. What could he say, he just couldn’t. Just the very thought of her brought back the dream he had just had, the very details were still surprisingly clear. He wasn’t exactly sure what to make of them. His father had always told him there was a deeper meaning in dreams. Something that the conscious mind didn’t compute with, so the subconscious brought it up in dreams. Glancing at Jared out of the corner of his eye, Jake debated momentarily telling him about the dream, then thought against it. Jared would probably just say to stop worrying about it, that it meant nothing. Curious as he was though, Jake wanted to find out. Slowly he lowered the last bits of ham and stashed them in the fridge. “I have a feeling you aren’t going to go away are you?” he muttered in irritation at Jared. Course, maybe he could turn this into a little information hunt. Hell, if Jared was dragging him out, that was exactly what Jake was going to do. [/div] Every time I close my eyes My dreams are haunted

“Manners are completely dead in this pack!” Jared exclaimed as he dramatically waved his hands in the air. Obviously! The pack had no manners! Jared wouldn’t have barged into Jake’s house had it not been tradition. And where did the tradition start? The pack. So clearly Jared was just following his alpha’s lead. You know, like a good little shifter. “Maybe you should start locking your door.” Yea, like a lock will actually keep the pack out. Please, you would need a whole armory to do that. Besides Billy understood that there was no point fighting your pack. Which was probably why he left the door unlocked in the first place. So Jake should know better than to resist a pack mate at this point. Especially Jared. It was one thing to resist Paul or even Sam. But Jared. Not saying Jared had complete control over the pack or the pack mates. But Jared was persistent, stubborn, and obnoxious. An extremely lethal combination of the three. Sure Jared had no authority in this house, but he had the will. And it wasn’t below him toe bound and gag Jake. Nor was it below him to kidnap the boy. Jared just rolled his eyes; Jake was being a crabby baby about the whole thing. He should really be grateful that someone would come out of their way to see him. Grateful that someone cares enough to pick me up out of his bad mood. Then again Jacob was permanently in a bad mood. Jared couldn’t blame him though, if the woman he loved was shacking up with a vampire then he would be in a bad mood all the time. But that’s why Jared was here! To rid the Jacob of all the negativity. “And you would still be mad, so again I say it would just have been a waste of time.” Jared was very logical in this whole thing. After all Jake would still be mad that he was woken up and he would still yell at Jared. Because no doubt Jared would have ended up at the Black house anyways. So yes, it was all just a waste of time to just ended up where they were now. “Stop acting like you’re the only one Sam exhausts on a nightly and daily basis. And the woods don’t count! I mean the outside world with other people! You remember those, right?” Jake wasn’t the only one that Sam has done this too. He’s just picking on Jake this week. Next week it’ll be Jared’s turn and the next it will be Paul. There was nothing special about Jake, so he should stop acting like it. Yea, Jared should be more empathetic about the whole since his turn was coming again. But last time Sam did it to him; nobody cared or stopped themselves from disturbing his sleep. Then again Jared was just a naturally hyper person; he could run for days with three hours of sleep in his system and be perfectly fine. So maybe Jared wasn’t being empathetic to Jake because he couldn’t grasp the idea of being tired. Jared watched Jacob take the ham out again and finish it off. Jesus! Let’s just dilly dally some more shall we?! Seriously, they were wasting daylight. “I know what we are doing! I’m just not telling you…at this exact moment.” Yes, Jared had no freakin’ clue what they were going to do! But he had a general idea. He was going to get Jacob laid. Okay, maybe not laid. But definitely a date. If anybody in this pack could attract girls, it would be these two. Between Jacob’s hot body and Jared’s charismatic personality, they were going to have the girls swarm to them. And because Jared was taken they would all focus on Jake. And then Jake will be able to go on many, many dates. Forget about the vampire girl and move on with his life. Of course Jared knew it wasn’t going to be that easy. And he knew that Bella would still be in Jake’s life. He just wanted to make it easier for the guy and wanted him to think of Bella as more of a friend. Friendzone the girl, she deserved it. “Good deduction Sherlock! Always go with your gut instincts!” Jared exclaimed sarcastically. Of course Jared wasn’t going anywhere! He went out of his way to the Black residence, he wasn’t about to leave without Jacob. Again, kidnapping was not below him. But he was glad to see that Jake was coming to understand everything. He was starting to get it. Jared wasn’t going anywhere. And Jacob would just learn to take some anti-grumpy pills and they will beyond his way. Though the boy might wanted to shower first and put some clothes. They weren’t hanging out with the guys today. They were going out. Out to find some hot chicks. And even though Jake had a hot body, he should really cover up in public because not everybody appreciated it. Like the police. They didn’t really like that stuff.
